=== urbanslug is now known as zipper [07:05] Morning === MaNL is now known as MaNI [07:25] good mornings [07:41] morning unlaudable [07:42] hi inetpro, dlPhreak, MaNI [07:43] superfly: are you well? [07:43] dlPhreak: I'm fine thanks. Just busy, almost going crazy at the moment. [07:46] hi [07:49] superfly: What's keeping you so busy? [07:50] dlPhreak: Moving! [07:51] dlPhreak: specifically, to the USA. [08:03] Oh yeah that's right. [08:04] How's that going so far, superfly? [08:06] dlPhreak: we're getting there. The Mrs and the kids are flying out on the 20th of October. We've got a fair amount of stuff sold and/or booked, still lots to get rid of though. Animals are slowly being re-homed (fish have gone, snake is organised, one cat is gone, dog is going this weekend, other cat is coming with us). I'm waiting for my visa so that I can go, but that'll only happen in December, most likely. [08:09] Morning [08:10] morning Squirm [08:25] Heya superfly [08:25] morning superfly [08:26] We need coffee before you leave then [08:26] I feel like we live a few 100m from each other :D [08:26] sorry in and out... [08:26] Squirm: yes [08:27] Squirm: I'm finishing up at work at the end of next week, after that I'm felxible. [08:27] *flexible [08:29] Cool [08:31] Can someone easily describe the difference between a cacert file, a cert file and a key file? [08:34] Squirm: cacert is the Certificate Authority's certificate. It's like the master cert that everyone uses and that the browsers already know about. cert is the certificate for your actual server, which has been signed by the cacert so that the browser knows this particular site's cert is authentic and valid. a key is your private key which you created in order to generate a certificate. your server uses this key to encrypt and decrypt (I [08:34] think) [08:35] Cool, that makes sense [08:35] So now, a service of mine is in need of a cacert file. We bought the cert. I have the key and cert, but no cacert [08:36] Squirm: go to the place you bought the cert, they have an "intermediate certificate" - this is what you need [08:37] https://search.thawte.com/support/ssl-digital-certificates/index?page=content&id=INFO1384 [08:37] ta [08:37] This helps [08:41] aag no man, gofundme takes 7% of the total funds raised kulelu88: I think that's why they raised the price slightly. [08:48] but the Oz government are idiots. 7 days to pay such a massive bill [08:59] I don't think it is really fair to call them idiots for that, they have their policies and it likely has good reasons behind it. Though they actually should have insisted on travel insurance, not insisting on travel insurance if anything is the bad policy here [09:12] but 7 days to pay such a massive bill? you cannot even get a loan in 7 days [09:12] unless it's a shark loan [09:13] but you're right, there was no travel insurance, which is strange for an older person [09:36] travel insurance only covers the flight [09:40] no, you are confusing airline ticket insurance with medical travel insurance. It is relatively common place for travellers to take out medical travel insurance and often it is a requirement just to get a visa (especially when visiting countries that have public healthcare systems) [09:42] specifically to avoid things like what has happened here :/ [10:02] i agree MaNI was a stupid mistake not sorting that out first [10:03] to be clear, not blaming you - hindsight is 20/20, I'm just really surprised they didn't insist on it in your circumstances [10:04] they enforce it if you are goping for more than 3 months so i was actually releived, because it was like 2k for 3 months insurance [10:04] yeah :/ [11:16] g'day all [11:17] hi nlsthzn [11:18] nlsthzn: by the way, if you use SASL auth, people won't see the "joined, quit, joined" [11:22] haven't installed a "proper" irc client, using the one that comes with Gnome "Polari" ... AFAIK with the 3.22 version it can save your passwords etc... [11:22] ah and you not in America yet superfly? [11:23] nlsthzn: nope. The Mrs and the underlings leave on the 20th of October, I leave once my visa comes through, probably December [11:25] well I hope it comes through ASAP [11:26] the time-frame they gave me was 90 days, which is the beginning of December [12:17] Hey superfly, nlsthzn, Kilos [12:18] sup paddatrapper ? :) [12:18] * nlsthzn didn't even notice uncle Kilos in the channel [12:18] stupid irc client >.< [12:19] Lol, I was guessing initially simply because there was a lot of talking :) [12:19] Yellow [12:20] Kilos: How goes man?
