pantato | I am trying to get my microphone to work in Counter-Strike. Counter-Strike just uses whatever the default system microphone is. My microphone is on my webcam. My microphone works if i open Audacity and set it to my usb device, but it still does not appear to change the system's default microphone device. Anyone know how to go about this? | 04:11 |
bq | how to take screenshot in lubuntu? | 10:34 |
LuMint | bq: scrot | 11:17 |
LuMint | bq: or sudo apt-get install xfce-screenshoter, or whatever. | 11:17 |
pantato | so lxce is openbox based? | 14:02 |
pantato | lxde* | 14:03 |
wxl | pantato: lxde tends to imply openbox, but it's not a requirement. i use awesome. | 14:05 |

Argh_ | Good afternoon | 20:00 |
tsimonq2 | Argh_: having a problem? ;) | 20:01 |
tsimonq2 | (going off of your nick) | 20:01 |
Argh_ | I have a merc board and I cannot seem to get the keyboard to work. I am using Lubuntu 16.04 | 20:02 |
tsimonq2 | LuMint: s/apt-get/apt/ | 20:02 |
Argh_ | do I need to put in that command? | 20:02 |
tsimonq2 | no, I was pinging someone else there | 20:02 |
Argh_ | sorry specifically the numberpad | 20:02 |
tsimonq2 | Argh_: I don't know what a merc board is, could you provide more details? | 20:03 |
Argh_ | it is a gaming keyboard | 20:03 |
tsimonq2 | does it work on Ubuntu? | 20:03 |
LuMint | tsimonq2: yeah, that's easier. I also tend to use just apt these days | 20:03 |
tsimonq2 | LuMint: :) | 20:03 |
LuMint | tsimonq2: I've been told it's only in mint that apt combines apt-get, apt show, apt-cache etc. | 20:03 |
Argh_ | I haven't tried ubuntu I jumped to lubuntu because it is an older computer | 20:04 |
LuMint | even though I've also been told it was the case in Debian and Ubuntu, too | 20:04 |
LuMint | tsimonq2: that's why I recommended apt-get, I wasn't sure | 20:04 |
tsimonq2 | Argh_: if it's an Ubuntu problem, then it's a driver problem, but if it's Lubuntu, then I should be able to help you | 20:05 |
tsimonq2 | LuMint: nope, that's not the case | 20:05 |
Argh_ | ok. I am unsure where to start | 20:06 |
tsimonq2 | Argh_: get an Ubuntu Live USB image, reboot into that, and tell me if it works | 20:07 |
tsimonq2 | I'll be afk for like an hour, be back | 20:08 |
Argh_ | ok give me a bit | 20:08 |
Argh_ | How will I get back into this chat? | 20:12 |
Jbmorris289 | Argh_: What client are you using? | 20:17 |
Argh_ | not sure what you mean by client. I am using lubuntu 16.04 is that what you mean? | 20:20 |
Jbmorris289 | You coul just leve it on, unless you have to disconnect(in that case You can do what you did to get here) | 20:21 |
Jbmorris289 | could* | 20:21 |
Jbmorris289 | I mean, | 20:21 |
Jbmorris289 | What program are you using to connect to this chat | 20:22 |
Argh_ | slimjet | 20:23 |
Jbmorris289 | Slimjet. ah | 20:23 |
Argh_ | sorry I wasn't sure if that was directed to me :) | 20:24 |
Jbmorris289 | Meaning you're using the web irc client | 20:24 |
Jbmorris289 | Basically just do what you did before to get here again | 20:25 |
Jbmorris289 | If you're leaving ^ | 20:26 |
Argh_ | ah ok | 20:27 |
Argh_ | well I was thinking I would use another computer that I have a kvm for and see if that works. | 20:27 |
Argh_ | it did not work in ubuntu either | 21:25 |

Guest31473 | and I have no idea what I was supposed to do to verify the nickname Argh LOL | 21:35 |
Guest31473 | I tried running a few commands as suggested for other keyboards where the numberpad wasn't working but it didn't seem to help either | 21:37 |

Need | my number pad isn't working on my keyboard. They keyboard is a merc gaming board, I am using lubuntu 16.04. I tried to install ubuntu on another computer to see if it would work with a standard install, it didn't | 22:20 |
Need | I have tried running some other solutions but they have failed, so. I will take any suggestions :) | 22:20 |
tsimonq2 | oh you're Argh | 22:22 |
tsimonq2 | :D | 22:22 |

tsimonq2 | Need: at this point, if it didn't work in Ubuntu, hop in #ubuntu | 22:23 |
Need | do I just type join # ubuntu? | 22:23 |
tsimonq2 | /j #ubuntu | 22:24 |
Need | thanks :) | 22:24 |
tsimonq2 | Need: no problem :) | 22:24 |
Need | Is there a way to get a more "option" version for the keyboard and mouse menu? | 23:02 |
Need | the reason I ask is they gave me a link that gives an option not available in lubuntu http://askubuntu.com/questions/539769/numeric-keys-not-working-after-upgrading-14-04 | 23:04 |
lynorian | Need yes lxinput the default input changer in lubuntu but you could maybe install another one or there is probably a config file to edit but installing unity control center would allow that but would be really heavy but I do not know of a more lightweight solution | 23:08 |
Need | lynorian, did you look at the link by chance? | 23:09 |
lynorian | Need I did | 23:09 |
lynorian | The screenshot is shown for the unity control center is the graphical program or maybe gnome control center don't know the exact package name | 23:10 |
Need | hmm have you a way I can change that or is putting in unity the way to go? | 23:10 |
Need | the setting is what I am after :) | 23:10 |
lynorian | need I don't know | 23:10 |
Need | shoot hehe | 23:11 |
lynorian | this is not my expert area I have a fairly standard us keyboard layouts so don't end up having theese problems | 23:11 |
Need | well I guess I can always purge it :) gotcha. | 23:11 |
lynorian | I don't know if mate would have a similar setting in the GUI | 23:12 |
Need | what is mate? | 23:12 |
lynorian | another desktop environment much lighter than unity | 23:13 |
Need | forgive me for my ignorance. So Unity is gui for the desktop? | 23:14 |
Need | in moron terms :) | 23:14 |
lynorian | for one desktop environment | 23:15 |
Need | how would I install mate? | 23:15 |
Need | if you have time :) | 23:15 |
lynorian | https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desktop_environment | 23:15 |
Need | Sweet! off to read, may be back later :) | 23:16 |
lynorian | although installing everything will end up with a ton of programs in menu | 23:16 |
lynorian | you can do it but it does not mean you should | 23:16 |
Need | oh | 23:18 |
Need | lol | 23:18 |
Need | If I may ask, what do you use? | 23:19 |
Need | I guess the better questions is what should I use. Let me get you the specs | 23:21 |
Need | HMM.. that gave me to much. haha | 23:23 |
Need | Pentium D 3.2 8 gigs of ram | 23:24 |
lynorian | not sure unity would run well on a pentium D | 23:28 |
Need | ok | 23:29 |
Andymc | I installed Lubuntu on UEFI mode successfully yesterday but messed up today when adding a third OS. I had to reformat but now I can't get Lubuntu to install in UEFI mode. I'm doing exactly as I did yesterday. Using unetbootin, windows 8, USB stick. What can I do? | 23:30 |
Andymc | I restored my main OS from a disk and doing exactly as I did previously, but this time windows skips over the USB even when I manually tell it to boot from that device | 23:31 |
Andymc_ | What can I do? | 23:33 |
