[04:10] hi [04:11] I am trying to get my microphone to work in Counter-Strike. Counter-Strike just uses whatever the default system microphone is. My microphone is on my webcam. My microphone works if i open Audacity and set it to my usb device, but it still does not appear to change the system's default microphone device. Anyone know how to go about this? [10:34] how to take screenshot in lubuntu? [11:17] bq: scrot [11:17] bq: or sudo apt-get install xfce-screenshoter, or whatever. [14:02] so lxce is openbox based? [14:03] lxde* [14:05] pantato: lxde tends to imply openbox, but it's not a requirement. i use awesome. [19:30] Joined with Pidgin currently on Lubuntu. :/ [19:31] ;)* [20:00] Good afternoon [20:01] Argh_: having a problem? ;) [20:01] (going off of your nick) [20:02] I have a merc board and I cannot seem to get the keyboard to work. I am using Lubuntu 16.04 [20:02] LuMint: s/apt-get/apt/ [20:02] do I need to put in that command? [20:02] no, I was pinging someone else there [20:02] sorry specifically the numberpad [20:03] Argh_: I don't know what a merc board is, could you provide more details? [20:03] it is a gaming keyboard [20:03] does it work on Ubuntu? [20:03] tsimonq2: yeah, that's easier. I also tend to use just apt these days [20:03] LuMint: :) [20:03] tsimonq2: I've been told it's only in mint that apt combines apt-get, apt show, apt-cache etc. [20:04] I haven't tried ubuntu I jumped to lubuntu because it is an older computer [20:04] even though I've also been told it was the case in Debian and Ubuntu, too [20:04] tsimonq2: that's why I recommended apt-get, I wasn't sure [20:05] Argh_: if it's an Ubuntu problem, then it's a driver problem, but if it's Lubuntu, then I should be able to help you [20:05] LuMint: nope, that's not the case [20:06] ok. I am unsure where to start [20:07] Argh_: get an Ubuntu Live USB image, reboot into that, and tell me if it works [20:08] I'll be afk for like an hour, be back [20:08] ok give me a bit [20:12] How will I get back into this chat? [20:17] Argh_: What client are you using? [20:20] not sure what you mean by client. I am using lubuntu 16.04 is that what you mean? [20:21] You coul just leve it on, unless you have to disconnect(in that case You can do what you did to get here) [20:21] could* [20:21] I mean, [20:22] What program are you using to connect to this chat [20:23] slimjet [20:23] Slimjet. ah [20:24] sorry I wasn't sure if that was directed to me :) [20:24] Meaning you're using the web irc client [20:25] Basically just do what you did before to get here again [20:26] If you're leaving ^ [20:27] ah ok [20:27] well I was thinking I would use another computer that I have a kvm for and see if that works. [21:25] it did not work in ubuntu either [21:26] the numbers above they keys work fine just not the number pad [21:30] did I loose you jbmorris289? === Argh is now known as Guest31473 [21:34] I have lubuntu 16.04. I have a merc gaming board and I am unable to get the numberpad on my keyboard to work. I have tried to load ubuntu on another computer using the same keyboard and it doesn't work there either [21:35] and I have no idea what I was supposed to do to verify the nickname Argh LOL [21:37] I tried running a few commands as suggested for other keyboards where the numberpad wasn't working but it didn't seem to help either [21:47] I have lubuntu 16.04.  I have a merc gaming board and I am unable to get the number pad on my keyboard to work. I have tried to load ubuntu on another computer using the same keyboard and it doesn't work there either I tried running a few commands as suggested for other keyboards where the number pad wasn't working but it didn't seem to help either === GRRRRRR is now known as Guest73473 [21:47] GRRRR [21:48] What does it mean I "failed to identify" [22:13] anybody here? [22:15] hello? [22:18] Need: hello :) [22:18] I was hoping to get some help. [22:18] ask away :) [22:19] I have tried a few time to get help but nobody answered :) [22:20] my number pad isn't working on my keyboard. They keyboard is a merc gaming board, I am using lubuntu 16.04. I tried to install ubuntu on another computer to see if it would work with a standard install, it didn't [22:20] I have tried running some other solutions but they have failed, so. I will take any suggestions :) [22:22] oh you're Argh [22:22] :D [22:22] hehe yes :) but it wouldn't let me have my name back [22:23] Need: at this point, if it didn't work in Ubuntu, hop in #ubuntu [22:23] do I just type join # ubuntu? [22:24] /j #ubuntu [22:24] thanks :) [22:24] Need: no problem :) [23:02] Is there a way to get a more "option" version for the keyboard and mouse menu? [23:04] the reason I ask is they gave me a link that gives an option not available in lubuntu http://askubuntu.com/questions/539769/numeric-keys-not-working-after-upgrading-14-04 [23:08] Need yes lxinput the default input changer in lubuntu but you could maybe install another one or there is probably a config file to edit but installing unity control center would allow that but would be really heavy but I do not know of a more lightweight solution [23:09] lynorian, did you look at the link by chance? [23:09] Need I did [23:10] The screenshot is shown for the unity control center is the graphical program or maybe gnome control center don't know the exact package name [23:10] hmm have you a way I can change that or is putting in unity the way to go? [23:10] the setting is what I am after :) [23:10] need I don't know [23:11] shoot hehe [23:11] this is not my expert area I have a fairly standard us keyboard layouts so don't end up having theese problems [23:11] well I guess I can always purge it :) gotcha. [23:12] I don't know if mate would have a similar setting in the GUI [23:12] what is mate? [23:13] another desktop environment much lighter than unity [23:14] forgive me for my ignorance. So Unity is gui for the desktop? [23:14] in moron terms :) [23:15] for one desktop environment [23:15] how would I install mate? [23:15] if you have time :) [23:15] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desktop_environment [23:16] Sweet! off to read, may be back later :) [23:16] although installing everything will end up with a ton of programs in menu [23:16] you can do it but it does not mean you should [23:18] oh [23:18] lol [23:19] If I may ask, what do you use? [23:21] I guess the better questions is what should I use. Let me get you the specs [23:23] HMM.. that gave me to much. haha [23:24] Pentium D 3.2 8 gigs of ram [23:28] not sure unity would run well on a pentium D [23:29] ok [23:30] I installed Lubuntu on UEFI mode successfully yesterday but messed up today when adding a third OS. I had to reformat but now I can't get Lubuntu to install in UEFI mode. I'm doing exactly as I did yesterday. Using unetbootin, windows 8, USB stick. What can I do? [23:31] I restored my main OS from a disk and doing exactly as I did previously, but this time windows skips over the USB even when I manually tell it to boot from that device [23:33] What can I do?
