ubottuoem: No warez here! This is not a file sharing channel (or network); read the channel topic. If you're looking for information about me, type « /msg ubottu !bot ». If you're looking for a channel, see « /msg ubottu !alis ».05:38
acheronukclaydoh: well, yes. logical place to find desktop settings is in the desktop action menu. you can argue the settings such as wallpaper, layout type should also show in the desktop KCM in systemsettings though, or in their own one05:52

user|16301hey there15:42
user|16301i need to know if my downloaded iso is genuine15:43
user|16301anyone there15:44
Dragnslcruser|16301- you should verify the checksum15:45
Dragnslcrhttp://www.kubuntu.org/alternative-downloads has the sha256 sums15:46
user|16301many thanks15:50
user|16301was this only to check if i downloaded it completely or checking its authenticity15:51
DragnslcrIt checks that your iso is an accurate copy15:53
DragnslcrIf you're looking for a PGP signature, I think they only create one for the checksums file15:55
DragnslcrYou can find all of the files at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/releases/16.04.1/release/15:55
user|16301im a beginner using kubuntu15:56
user|16301my current os is win 715:56
DragnslcrUnless you're really paranoid, I wouldn't worry about PGP signatures15:58
SmurphyBut you should worry about these. They confirm that the package came from a known source!15:59
user|16301no im not15:59
=== GreySpirit is now known as Fae|Away
user|16301i follow the instruction on how to install kubuntu15:59
DragnslcrFrom what I can tell, Windows has a built-in program called CertUtil that can do the sha256 checksum of a file16:00
user|16301and it is said that i have to checked it first16:01
DragnslcrYou should use that to check that the download didn't get corrupted16:01
SmurphyThe package managers on the linux Distributions have that feature built-in. In conjunction with the package signature, you can be sure they come from a trusted location.16:04
user|16301i downloaded it in here http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/releases/16.04/release/kubuntu-16.04-desktop-i386.iso?16:08
evilcodegood evning for all16:10
Dragnslcruser|16301- probably better off using a 16.04.1 image, since it will have more recent updates. http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/releases/16.04.1/release/16:22
DragnslcrAnd you almost definitely want the amd64 version16:23

CRogersHello everyone. :)16:37
CRogersI noticed the Kubuntu logo has changed.16:37
CRogersThe one currently used seems to have some geometrical problems.16:38
CRogersI've taken some time to reconstruct it so that it looks cleaner when large.16:39
CRogersWould anyone like a copy of it?16:39
CRogersIt's vector svg format done in inkscape.16:40
soee_CRogers: join #kubuntu-devel and ask there16:42
CRogersAh, good point.16:42
CRogersthanks.16:42
rodolfojcjCRogers: give a link to see your improvements16:43
CRogersSure. It's here: http://whitecatgraphics.com/opendesignstudio/free_graphics/kubuntu/kubuntu_gear_logo_fix.svg16:43
=== Fae|Away is now known as GreySpirit
CRogersFrom a distance, it's indistinguishable from the one currently used.16:45
CRogersHowever, when zoomed, here's a comparison:16:46
rodolfojcjI'm comparing it with https://share.kde.org/index.php/s/SIWf0sCpDIpQt1K/download?path=%2F&files=Kubuntu_logo.svg16:46
CRogershttp://linux.about.com/od/kubuntu_doc/a/kubudg13t01.htm16:46
CRogersYea, zoom in to see the difference.16:47
CRogers(browser zoon)16:48
CRogers(ctrl+mousewheel)16:48
rodolfojcjI'm seeing. I'm not sure if the original logo has problems or if it has "features", but the original one has some curvy segments, while your proposal has straight segments16:48
CRogersYes. This kind of distortion is usually the result of vector-tracing a low-res copy of a raster version of the logo.16:49
rodolfojcjI mean, I'm not sure if the original logo has those cury segments by design, or if quite contrary, that is some kind of bug16:49
CRogersFrom experience, it was probably done with trace-bitmap in Inkscape.16:50
rodolfojcjok16:50
CRogersA very useful tool, however it only works well on high-res bitmaps.16:50
rodolfojcjby the way, besides Inkscape, what other software tools do you use for your artwork design?16:51

CRogersrodolfojcj, Asside from Inkscape, I use Krita, GIMP, Blender, Scribus, Imagemagick (especially mogrify), G'MIC, Atom Editor, GNOME, Viewnior, Natron, Font Forge, Ubuntu... and there's probably more, but that's most of the main ones.17:23
CRogersI'm a commercial designer for work, so all these tools are a definite +17:24
CRogersAllows me to work as I like, in a customisable environment of my choice, which is currently Linux.17:25
acheronukCRogers: impressive :)17:25
CRogersThanks. :)17:25
CRogersI think the open source toolset is the impressive thing, though.17:26
CRogersI envy the kids nowadays who will grow up with free tools like Blender, GIMP, Inkscape, etc.17:27
CRogersI started out with ascii art. lol17:27
CRogersWhich is about all my first computer could handle.17:28
rodolfojcjCRogers: very informative, thanks!17:36
rodolfojcjsome months ago I saw a video about Krita and it seemed to me as a powerful tool. I have not used it, though17:36
CRogersSure. :)17:38
CRogersAnd yes, Krita is astoundingly powerful.17:38
CRogersIn some respects more than GIMP.17:38
CRogersThey already have HDR painting, for example.17:39
CRogersThe latest version has a colorspace browser.17:39
CRogers= better than *anything* else out threre that I've seen.17:40
rodolfojcjis Krita more comarable with Gimp or with Inkscape?17:40
rodolfojcj* comparable17:40
CRogersGIMP, currently, though it has more vector support than GIMP does.17:42
CRogersGIMP is still my go-to program for photo work.17:42
CRogersHowever, when I'm drawing, or making tiling backgrounds, Krita is the way to go.17:43
CRogersThey just added animation capabilities to it too.17:43

rodolfojcjdo you use some kind of drawing tablet?17:44
CRogersMy laptop is a Lenovo X220 T17:44
CRogersit's a tablet hybrid.17:44
rodolfojcjif I remember, wacom is a famous brand for the drawing devices I'm thinking about17:44
CRogersHas a wacom tablet built into the screen.17:44

rodolfojcjdid you draw that dog's portrait by hand?17:55
CRogersYep. In an application called cloverpaint on Android Linux.17:57
rodolfojcjamazing!17:57
rodolfojcjhow long did it take to finish it? From start to finish, I mean17:58
