davmor2zzarr: when it lands there there abouts10:41
zzarrdavmor2, are there a feature list?10:57
davmor2zzarr: not that I am aware of10:58
zzarrI wounder if the mms bugs are fixed?10:59
zzarr(I can't receive mmses at all)11:00
davmor2zzarr: are your settings correct?11:00
zzarryes11:04
zzarrI have checked them, it used to work until OTA-1011:04
davmor2zzarr: have you reported a bug?11:08
davmor2zzarr: also check your cellular data connection is on something other than 2g11:09
zzarrI have reported "me too" to an existing report11:10
zzarrit's on 4g11:10
zzarrthe data (e.g. browsing) works11:10
davmor2zzarr: hmm then I'm outta ideas sorry :(11:11
zzarrno problems11:11
zzarrby the way, I can send mmses11:12
zzarrwhich should only be possible if the settings are correct11:13
davmor2zzarr: the send a receive work the same way so it should just work. Have you tried sending one to yourself?11:13
zzarryes11:13
zzarrwhen I send to myself or anyone else does then there's nothing11:14
zzarrwhen I send to anyone else it works11:14
zzarrI would like to have a look at the message app, where can I find the code?11:16
fairiestoyBuenas. I have a little question. Are there any plans yet to add more locking options to the lock screen?11:29
davmor2zzarr: it's all in launchpad11:31
davmor2fairiestoy: probably not no password, fingerprint, pin and none will probably be the defaults11:32
fairiestoyFor anything else, one has to hack it himself i guess?11:33
davmor2fairiestoy: why what do you think is missing?11:36
fairiestoyNot missing. But maybe a more safe way to lock my screen. I thought of more using the fact, that we have a touch screen.11:40
fairiestoyAs an example, something like the old safes with that spinning wheel with a random starting point.11:41
zzarrokey, thanks11:52
=== mimecar_ is now known as mimecar
dobeyzzarr: if/when ota14 comes it will mostly be all bug fixes12:58
dobeyfairiestoy: a combination style UI would probably be doable, but remember that any implementation really needs to be usable on all devices, including standard PCs, for convergence12:59
=== _salem is now known as salem_
zzarrdobey, is there a page where I can see the bugreports/status?13:08
dobeyzzarr: launchpad.net/canonical-devices-sytem-image13:10
fairiestoydobey: So is it in general a bad idea to implement something, that is more suitable for smaller devices (mobile phones) that for PC's? Since you are taking much of potential out of a platform or am i getting this wrong?13:12
zzarrthanks dobey13:13
dobeyfairiestoy: remember that the goal of ubuntu is convergence. that means using the same interface and software across all types of devices, as well as for example a phone being plugged in to a large external display for usage in PC style format. you need to be able to unlock the device while it's plugged into the external monitor as well as while it's a phone. so any implementation needs to consider all these factors13:15
QwertieIs it possible to run ubuntu touch in a VM on my desktop13:31
davmor2Qwertie: use ubuntu-emulator13:34
QwertieDo I need -images and -runtime as well?13:34
davmor2Qwertie: you can only use the stable channel and it only works as expected on xenial13:34
davmor2Qwertie: you run sudo ubuntu-emulator create --channel ubuntu-touch/stable/ubuntu <Name of vm eg stable> then run ubuntu-emulator run stable13:36
davmor2Qwertie: it's slow but it should give you an idea13:36
fairiestoydobey: The question that pops up my mind is, how much more work is it, to have a situational interface? As example if we have a phone and plug it to a larger display, use another unlocking mechanism? Im aware, that this is quite some effort, since its easier to just scale or modify existing mechanisms to fit a new display size.13:37
dobeyQwertie: you can run unity8 in a qemu/kvm vm if you want13:38
davmor2Qwertie: you can also install unity8-desktop-session on a standard vm or on your pc for the pc experience of unity813:38
QwertieIs unity8 on desktop and ubuntu touch pretty much the same thing?13:39
dobeyfairiestoy: i don't know the code for the lock screen, and haven't worked on the designs, so i can't say how much more work it would be. i simply know that it is something that must be considered13:39
davmor2fairiestoy: that is a silly idea from sysadmins in most places users can't remember their passwords from one week to the next having to remember more than one on a device is madness I tell you ;)13:40
dobeyfairiestoy: it's not just considering the display size though, but also how one interacts with the system. you can have a 24" touch screen, or a 5" screen that doesn't do touch. then there are goggles/glasses with a display, or a VR headset, that one can use13:41
dobeyQwertie: yes and no13:41
zzarrI didn't find a bugreport about the mms problem, so I filed a new one13:43
zzarrhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/163271513:44
ubot5Ubuntu bug 1632715 in Canonical System Image "Can't receive MMS messages" [Undecided,New]13:44
zzarrI hope I filed it in the right place13:44
dobeyzzarr: did you verify the APN is correct for your provider?13:48
zzarryes13:48
zzarrand I can send mms, just not receive13:49
zzarrI have even had contact with my providers tech support13:49
zzarrI used to be able to receive mmses until OTA-1013:51
zzarrI forgot to write that13:51
fairiestoydavmor2: Hmm yeah ok that's a good point ^^13:52
fairiestoydobey: I see. It was just a quick idea in the first place and its interesting to see the points to consider.13:54
zzarrnow I have edited the report, I hope it's getting assigned to someone13:55
dobeyfairiestoy: yes, someone made a design for such a lock screen a long while back, even. but it was only for the phone. i'm not sure how it would be adaptable to other interaction models13:58

morfhello14:54
morfis it possible to run ubuntu touch on samsung galaxy s5 (klte)? did it anybody? thx :)14:55
dobey!devices | morf15:09
ubot5morf: You can find the full list of devices, official images, community images, and works in progress at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices15:09
morf"no activity" :)15:09
morfi guess supporting many devices is no fun at all...15:10
wligtenbergJust read about this: http://www.laptopmag.com/articles/hp-elite-x3-lap-dock-features-specs would that also work with ubuntu touch? The laptop part at least. Since it is using miracast, I would almost assume that it should "just" work.15:19
dobeynot sure if it will work or not. not all miracast things are equal15:20
wligtenbergdobey, somebody should really check that (probably from Canonical) because it might be a boost for their convergence idea. I would like it, for sure.15:26

tedgmariogrip: Howdy, so I got a N5 and installed from ubports15:58
tedgmariogrip: It seems that on the OTA13 image the browser doesn't work because of a hybris mismatch.15:59
tedgmariogrip: I downgraded to OTA12 and things seem to all be okay.15:59
tedgmariogrip: The browser seemed to have the same issue on rc-proposed15:59

flohackGood Eve16:35
flohackgreyback: Who was the guy for Mir you mentioned yesterday?16:35
greybackflohack: kdub can help with egl and mir16:36
flohackkdub: Are you alive? :)16:36
kdubyes16:36
flohackI got an issue with non-functional Mir server on HTC One X (endeavoru)16:37
flohackBasically now I am trying the various tests16:37
flohacke.g. this one: http://pastebin.com/iUr9kPVK16:37
flohackmir_demo_standalone_render_surfaces and mir_demo_standalone_render_overlays works on the other hand16:39
flohacksorry overlays does not work.16:39
flohackmir_demo_standalone_render_to_fb works16:39
flohackEnding mir_demo_server_minimal with CTRL-C gives: ^C*** Error in `mir_demo_server_minimal': corrupted double-linked list: 0x0109ebb8 ***16:41
flohackAborted (core dumped)16:41
=== salem_ is now known as _salem
flohackkdub: still there?16:42
kdubwell, probably need a backtrace if its segfaulting16:43
kduband you can disable overlays with MIR_SERVER_DISABLE_OVERLAYS=true16:44
flohackOk can I use a debug build somehow?16:46
kdubflohack, debug builds are available https://launchpad.net/%7Eci-train-ppa-service/+archive/ubuntu/stable-phone-overlay/+sourcepub/6988261/+listing-archive-extra16:57
flohackOki will take a look. Need now internet on the device, also not so easy...16:58
kdubyknow, what's probably going on is16:58
kdubits the cpu mapping, and not the overlays that's being the problem16:59
kdubbecause render_to_overlays will try to draw with the CPU, and then post via hwc16:59
kduband the diagnostics tests says that fails as well, so that might clue you in16:59
flohackhmm17:13
flohackkdub Im a porter, not a developer xD17:13
flohack But its not in Mir, look17:14
flohackkdub: root@ubuntu-phablet:~# test_egl17:14
flohackSegmentation fault (core dumped)17:14
flohackso the libhybris test is also failing17:14

dobeyflohack: they should be in the PPA as well19:35
flohackCan I instruct apt to fetch them? ;)19:36
flohackbecause apt install libhybris-test-dbgsym does not work19:36
dobeyyou need to add the ddebs URL to apt19:37
flohackoh19:37
