ogra_ppisati, hmm, the kernel in -proposed looks good so far, but i did not get a wlan0 device in /proc/net/dev on first boot (second boot is fine)14:14

ogra_the uart error is gone at least14:17
ogra_and there was no wlan oops either14:17
ogra_probably it was just a glitch, lets see, trying the second time now14:18

ogra_yeah, i used wired though ... and there was no wlan0 in /proc/net/dev after i logged in via ssh14:18

ogra_it did show up in the last try too in the UI but could not be found in /proc/net/dev after finishing the config14:23
ppisatiogra_: yes, that has always been my experience since console-conf entered the image14:23

ogra_you cant ...14:24
ogra_(which makes debugging console-conf a pain)14:25
ogra_LOL14:25
ppisatiogra_: right, but you said that you sshed in and checked /proc/dev/net/...14:25
ogra_heh14:25
ogra_so after reset the wlan0 interface comes up telling me it is connected in console-conf14:25
ppisatiogra_: yes, that's me experience too14:26
ogra_yes, i configured wired14:26
ppisatioh k14:26
ogra_well, seems to still time out14:26
ogra_sigh14:26
ogra_so i guess no wlan on pi3 for the RC image then14:26
ppisatiogra_: can you ssh in and check if the wlan is there?14:27
ogra_well, i can probably set up wired, lets see ... though usually if console-conf had one error you can forget about the whole thing14:27
ppisatiogra_: right, it usually loses its mind after a failed network config14:28
ogra_yep14:28
ogra_well, we still have two weeks :P14:28
ogra_ppisati, in general the kernel seems to be a lot better though ... something at least ... all oopses gone14:29
ogra_oh my14:30
ogra_now cosole-conf just crashed ... drops me back to "please press enter" and if i do that it prints python tracebacks14:30
ppisatiogra_: so, for the BBB panic bug, i tried to install console-conf on classic, reproduce the 'first boot' snappy boot environment and work from there14:31
ppisatiogra_: might be a strategy to debug this14:31
ogra_i did set BBB to verification-done for the sru kernel yesterday already14:31

eltigreand I must really have the wrong documentation if this is the only way22:50
mwhudsoneltigre: well having every device running ubuntu core having ubuntu:ubuntu be a sudoer is not ideal either!22:53
eltigreThe server image has ubuntu:ubuntu and forces you to change the password at first login. For Raspberry Pi I think this security is enough, because you'd have an attacker in your home network scanning your network every minute for newly flashed rpis and then you'd still know because the password changed22:55
eltigreBut that's just me. I can understand that. Would be nice to have documentation on this though.22:58
mwhudsonyeah, documentation is definitely lacking23:03
mwhudsonuh, why am i still waiting for a cloud-init timeout in a pc image?23:03
mwhudsoni guess all the people who might know that are asleep23:03
mwhudsonrharper: around?23:03
mwhudsonthis is infuriating23:35
mwhudsoni guess i could try to understand what's going on23:35
