[06:44] Mornin' === brmbrmca1 is now known as brmbrmcar [07:08] hi [07:11] Good morning [07:11] where are you from? [07:14] the uk uk [07:14] sorry [07:20] Uh, yes. [07:22] very qu iet you are [07:23] busy working :) [07:24] what distro do you use? [07:24] * popey looks at the channel name [07:24] Ubuntu, of course :) [07:25] i use kde [07:25] Oh, I'm using Unity desktop on Ubuntu 16.04 [07:25] im on 14.04 kde [07:52] Morning all [07:56] GUESS WHAT DAY IT IS TODAY [07:56] IT IS THURSDAY [07:56] IT IS GOOGLE PIXEL DAY [07:56] \o/ [07:56] CARE-- [07:57] I'd probably wanted Moto Z Force more, but the camera won me over [07:59] will see if three suck as much as they did three years ago [08:00] "you have to go to the store to get a new SIM card" ... "we'll send you one in mail" === Dave____ is now known as Dave [08:28] morning boys and girls. [09:04] Good morning all! Happy Thursday, and happy Conflict Resolution Day! 😃 [09:32] dare I try turning my phone on yet? [09:36] diddledan: How else are the black helicopters going to find you? [09:36] lol [09:37] I washing-machined it last night so it's been sat in a bag of rice since midnight [09:37] give it another 12 hrs [09:37] I'm thinking I probably ruined it [09:37] was it on or off [09:37] roger [09:37] I think it was on :-( [09:38] oh [09:38] yeah [09:39] totes sucky [10:03] why do people fiddle with things like sar, its not until you actually need it you realise someones randomly touched the granularity [10:21] #datadog [10:36] and black helicopters are useless in urban environment... it's anonymous white vans in those locations... [10:41] zmoylan-pi: according to spooks and 24 an anonymous white van invariably means bomb [10:41] and an anonymous black van is the spies [10:42] so who drives the grey vans then?! [10:42] electricians [10:43] (like my bruvva) [10:43] and are black vans the good spies or the bad spies? [10:43] I think that depends on whether they're wearing balaclavas or not [10:44] the cool balaclavas or the uncool balaclavas... ::copies 'i went down' to media player for later:: === ging__ is now known as ging [10:49] I wasn't aware there were two types [10:50] watch that movie and learn :-) [10:51] if you don't laugh i'll owe you a euro which is a lot these days :-P [10:51] I don't know what the euro-to-pound ratio is these days [12:10] Hey folks, I'm trying to set up a VPN client, but I don't want to send all traffic through it. I want to bind applications to the VPN interface so I can pick and choose which application goes through the VPN. I tried adding route-noexec to my config file, which stops all my traffic going through the VPN, but when I try and send some traffic through it (eg curl --interface tun0) it just hangs, I think it's something to do with routes. Any ideas? [12:15] Azelphur: google fu for you might be "split routing" [12:15] I see [12:16] the way I've done it before is to use openvpn and add a route script rather than letting ovpn configure for me. in my script I set the destinations I want to go through the vpn with the private vpn ip of the vpn's router [12:17] e.g. route add gw dev [12:20] Hmm, you definitely understand this more than I do :) [12:20] But what do you mean by destination? [12:20] destination is the ip or network you want to access through the vpn [12:23] diddledan: what if I want to access the whole internet via the VPN, not just a specific IP? I just want to specify the bind interface in the application [12:23] eg by default everything goes through eth0, but I can run curl --interface tun0 and have that go through the VPN [12:24] no idea. I don't think that's possible [12:24] really? I would have thought that would be easy >.< [12:24] My dedicated server has multiple interfaces (just not VPN ones) and curl --interface works fine [12:24] if the application supports a bind-ip concept then you can ask the applicatino to bind to your vpn ip [12:25] that's exactly what I'm after [12:25] curl supports it because it has the --interface option [12:26] alternatively you could set-up a proxy server which you configure apps you want to go via the vpn to use, and apps you don't want vpnified you leave without proxy configuration [12:26] diddledan: is that like a SOCKS proxy? won't work because I need incoming traffic (a port forward on the VPN server side) [12:39] my new facebook banner and icon/photo :-) https://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/A8EclK9h/Capture.PNG [12:40] * zmoylan-pi reports diddledan for having a beard and the bomb in his profile pic... [12:40] haha [12:40] zmoylan-pi: durka durka muhammed jihad [12:41] be careful, you're just 1 casio watch away from a free cuban holiday :-P [12:41] \o/ [12:41] I like the sunshine [12:44] black bag over the head creates terrible tan lines [12:47] this looks awesome: https://youtu.be/yGtVJ48GMAI [12:51] diddledan: tried TorGuard support, not all that helpful :( [12:51] "Thank you for contacting us, problem with vpn that once you disable route-nopull you need to add route .... for hostname either destination or source for it to work, binding torrent app will not do anything other than breaking deluge as vpn is not going to route any traffic. You can alternatively setup proxy on deluge level if you only need deluge to be protected." [12:52] I notice he says either destination or source, could I not add a route with the source of tun0 to go out into the world? [13:04] * arsen_ has a casio watch :< [13:06] :-o [13:07] apparently USB cufflinks are terrorist paraphernalia === arsen_ is now known as arsen [14:18] nintendo's new thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5uik5fgIaI [14:31] diddledan: my used goods adventures continue, I just bought a perfectly good laptop for £4.70 [14:31] needs a new CMOS battery, that's all I can see that is wrong with it [14:31] :-o [14:31] T2330 @ 1.6ghz, 2GB RAM, DVDRW, what's not to like === layke is now known as Guest62733 [15:17] the bbc series currently in progress called "the missing" it gut wrenching [15:23] also, the fall is pretty engrossing [17:49] diddledan: seems like a trend for names called "The " :) [17:50] i have quite a few movies called 'the $insertname' so it's not really new [17:50] but this is series :> [17:51] shirely you are been series? [17:52] :D [18:04] someone who has been working on WordPress in another channel asked what I thought of https://beta.getshifter.io/ - it looks like a load of marketing waffle about nothing [18:04] "serverless" balliarics! [18:07] also, westworld is epic [18:07] (thinking about tv) [18:09] wordpress to static html isn't a new idea [18:09] however a tool that makes it super simple might be a success [18:10] I kinda think it pointless when there are other things that do a much better job [18:10] they might do a better job but they require you to be a wordpress expert to use them [18:11] but if you have a background in wordpress it might scratch an itch [18:11] which is fine for you and me [18:11] but not for the general public... [18:11] no, I mean things other than WordPress do a better job at creating a static html site [18:11] i don't think there is any better blogging platform for ease of use [18:13] i can give someone a wordpress site and they can happily make pages all day even though they know nothing about computers [18:27] hrmm CPU issues in vmware workstation with 16.10! [18:28] don't even get a desktop [18:41] why do shoot-outs always happen at high-noon? [18:42] nobody had watches [18:42] gotta see your opponent the best! [18:48] so you don't waste your money eating lunch if u gonna die [18:48] but probably the other reasons [18:49] less shadows , if sun is overhead nobody can complain sun got in their eyes [18:50] except this is a movie construct and probably never happened outside of a clint eastwood film anyway [18:50] depends on the latitude ;-) [18:50] there were duels but insanely rare aiui [19:12] zmoylan-pi: I like my beef insanely rare :-p [19:13] obviously I'm kidding about the insanity [20:02] https://youtu.be/gmA6MrX81z4 - Red Dead Redemption 2, wow that world looks detailed [22:13] so my phone is gone the way of the dodo [22:13] it's dead jim [22:14] and definitely as we know it [22:14] clubbed to death by sailors? [22:14] close. washing machine. [22:14] was it a samsung washing machine? :-) [22:14] did you have it down to the bare boards in the rice? [22:15] I don't know how to get into it, even if I had the tools [22:15] what is it? [22:15] nexus 5x [22:15] rice isn't gonna work just on the outside i think [22:15] was... [22:16] ah no way, i just got one :> [22:16] lol [22:16] and lol [22:16] i just charged it for the second time, took just under 2hrs from 8% [22:17] at least my mac is repaired now. gonna pick it up either tomorrow or saturday [22:17] prolly pop into town tomoz [22:17] they're charging me 79 for it [22:17] don't wash it! [22:17] awww [22:18] ah that's more like what i expected [22:18] that was gonna be my first job when I got it home [22:18] i see the cult are unleashing their new wave on the 27th after all [22:18] :D [22:18] yup [22:18] once you found a clothing item with the largest possible pocket [22:18] week today [22:21] sad news about the ESA's Schiaparelli probe eh? :( [22:21] doesn't seem good [22:23] yeah :-( [22:23] sad face [22:23] wether we bring you the weather on mars depends on the next probe due in a few years. [22:24] see if a mars rover had a decent arm with a swiss army knife and soldering kit it could find the impact site and rebuild it... :-) [22:25] this is embarassing - http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/10/20/britain_asks_america_legal_help_new_aircraft_carriers_f35/ [22:25] tell me the weather whenever and wherever the weather is [22:25] whether it be gloomy or not [22:25] d'oh, I coulda put a whether in there after wherever [22:26] whereas you missed out, yus ;) [22:26] lol [22:26] touché [22:27] the uk should buy russian 4th generation aircraft... just a few so 50% of the fighters from russia, 50% from usa so at least you know half will work when you need to attack one of them [22:27] lol [22:27] they work, just need a few tens of reboots before they get going... [22:27] they might have backdoors [22:28] might... [22:29] mike might mightily make munchies [22:29] backdoors wrapped in critical security faults wrapped in software from cheapest bidder [22:29] say that three times fast [22:29] backdoors wrapped in critical security faults wrapped in software from cheapest bidder [22:29] backdoors wrapped in critical security faults wrapped in software from cheapest bidder x 2 [22:29] grr [22:29] :-p [22:30] i typed it, honest :-P [22:30] no fur! [22:37] or just install linux on the f35s :-P [22:37] linux is communist propaganda though [22:38] so how about that new Nintendo Switch eh? there's a funky hybrid [22:38] meh [22:39] if it has the samem eula as the wii u were they reserve the right to brick it if you attach non nintendo hardware pre dooms it i suspect [22:39] gotta love remote brick creation [22:42] heh [22:43] diddledan: hackers do that all the time [22:56] and updates from manufacturers [23:00] never! :> [23:08] some of them seem to think that mundane updates should introduce some excitment into the whole... will it work or not afterwards... [23:30] nn folks \o [23:31] sleep well o/ [23:33] nn
