[06:19] plasma-shell says "error: couldn't find primary output KScreen::Output(NULL)". It's running on desktop with no physical monitor attached, and used remotely with TeamViewer. I added kubuntu backports ppa and did dist-upgrade and reboot but plasma-shell and menus is not visible, it's still black background. [06:35] xet7: to be clear, you did update && dist-upgrade? [06:36] it would be useful to login as a new user, if so [06:36] I think you have a messed up config [06:38] In my Lenovo x1 carbon 2016 it freeze when I used the hdmi output with an external monitor. Since updating to 16.10 Ark cannot open RAR archives for some reason. I got rar, unrar and unrar-free installed, can anyone help me figure this out? [20:41] It just says "no suitable plugin found", but the 3 programs work fine from command line. (Mostly it bothers me because it interferes with Krusader) === daniel is now known as danielthe [20:42] I had to reinstall my system from scratch so maybe I am missing some obscure package for Ark to work with rar files? === danielthe is now known as danielthebague === rthomsen6 is now known as rthomsen [21:02] MazingerZERO: Its not a solution for ARK but 7zip is pretty good. I think its available for linux [21:02] Just throwing it out there [21:04] Yeah I am using that meanwhile. [21:04] But Ark not working also interferes with Krusader's operation, that's why I'd like to repair it as well. [21:07] Oh. Seems the mimetype is wrong. [21:08] xdg-mime query filetype reports "application/vnd.rar" instead of "application/x-rar". Maybe that's why Ark is breaking? [21:08] https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368786 [21:08] KDE bug 368786 in plugins "Unable to open RAR files with shared-mime-info 1.7" [Major,Resolved: fixed] [21:09] Huh. Yeah it is. [21:10] I'll go edit the mime info for now, better than nothing! [21:15] Alright. It's working again. [21:16] Thanks to whoever opened that bug report. Somehow the freenode irc client makes it appear out of nowhere, so not sure who to thank here. [21:17] MazingerZERO: acheronuk is on Telegram, which is bridged to this chan [21:17] Oh. Then thanks, acheronuk! [21:17] and ubottu opens the BRs [21:17] (and you too for pointing that out. Didn't know such a bridge was doable.) [21:17] it's pretty cool [21:18] I like keeping up with IRC when I'm out and about [21:18] irc on my phone is not good [21:18] I'm a bit of an old dog. IRC is still my platform of choice. The only thing I miss on it is the modern "ensure messages get by even if your connection is unstable" newer protocols like Skype or Discord have. [21:20] oh for that I use a BNC [21:21] and I agree that irc is the ne plus ultra [21:21] BNC? [21:21] but Telegram makes it even more useful [21:21] "bouncer" [21:22] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZNC [21:22] KDE runs one that I use, people run them on their own servers [21:22] some even run a screen IRC session that they connect to [21:23] Very interesting, so this can ensure a message gets by even with flaky connection? [21:23] I live in a pretty stormy area and wifi at times is affected badly. [21:24] Reading about telegram too, never heard of it before actually. How useful can it be? [21:29] That was educative. Oh well, gotta go back to work. Thanks for your help! [21:29] Telgram was great for something like Akademy, as it allowed non attendees to keep up with what was going on [23:28] I like that irc Telegram bot. It is easy to follow with mobile and I get all messages even if I'm not in IRC
