For some reason, the OS hangs/responds very slowly in between while typing or switching tasks or while doing any work. During this hang/slow behaviour, I notice the fan revving in high speed, delay in typing, network disconnection and stuck digital clock seconds counter which restores to normal after the lag subsides but occurs every 10 seconds or so lasting for about 3-4 seconds. Is this a [12:41] kernel issue? How can I determine what is causing this? [13:42] Hi BluesKaj :) [13:42] I obviously tried on Mozilla/#thunderbird first, but nobody was able to help me. So I thought maybe it's something with kubuntu/ubuntu... maybe some permission problems. I can't see anything in thunderbird/sent folder. I mean the folder in thunderbird itself not a directory on a disk... I'm lost, I don't know what to do now. [13:43] konrados: sorry, tried what on firefox? [13:44] You mean opening webmail, BluesKaj ? It works fine there. [13:45] konrados: were you posting somewhere elase , because I don't follow [13:45] else [13:45] konrados: Let's start from the beginning. Is the "Sent" folder a local folder on your machine or is it on the mail server? [13:47] BluesKaj, chr1s - I tried on the Mozilla servers (not freenode) and there #thunderbird channel. Now I'm trying to locate where thunderbird stores its "sent" stuff on disk. I told thunderbird to keep things on both mail server and local machine btw. I'm a bit lost, because until now, I simply installed, configured, fired and everything was just fine, also on Kubuntu. [13:48] can you see the contents of other folders or nothing is working now? [13:49] chr1s, - everything else works just fine (like 'inbox'). Only the 'sent' folder is still empty and "grayed out" [13:50] OK, I think I'll try again on #thunderbird channel on Mozilla server where does thunderbird stores all the information, because I did find imap folders but nothing more. I mean there is a "local folders" directory (on disk I mean) but there is nothing like "sent" in there. [13:52] I'll be back chr1s & BluesKaj - thanks for your help hitherto :) [13:52] everything local should be in a folder off your user directory called .mozilla-thunderbird something depending on what name your profile has [13:52] ok, good luck === mgolden is now known as mgolden_ [13:53] I'll be back, but, btw, I only have "/home/konrad/.thunderbird/s3zrpwq3.default", chr1s [13:55] ok, it's that, everything should be in there unless you changed the default storage location [13:59] Hey everyone [14:00] When I installed 16.04.1 it gave me the wrong wifi module [14:00] I have no way to wire connect this desktop [14:01] But I found the Install ISO, mounted it at /cdrom and added it as a source through the GUI [14:01] Now how do I install the right one? Lots of hopping back and forth [14:49] locustmage: the drivers are present in linux, your issue is that you don't have the firmware for the card which is loaded by the driver when it comes up [14:50] it's a crappy approach to delivering hardware that we're unfortunately stuck with due to licensing and other issues around the hardware [15:00] I'm really not getting where these files might be if the do exist already on my system [15:02] locustmage: the firmware files most probably don't already exist on your system (unless you already put them there) and that is your problem, you need to get them and put them where your driver is expecting [15:03] locustmage: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Firmware [15:04] Wow what a user friendly operating system.......
