First time in this channel. [04:32] Just installed ota 13 and wondering if it has smb (cifs) so I can share media w/out connecting cables [04:38] I'm too lazy to check, but I doubt the phones have Samba installed [04:38] you can enable ssh though, and there are some apps for sharing using FTP & bluetooth [04:40] OK. [04:53] Hey. Sorry but I'm new to cir but excited to try my new Ubuntu touch on nexus4 [04:54] Irc not. Cir I'm wondering how to make the most of ota 13 [04:57] Like can I use the terminal in a normal Ubuntu way? Sudo apt get install [05:00] You can use the terminal, but not apt (without potentially breaking updates) [06:33] for the record, sshfs works just fine, no need for samba [08:45] any one here? [08:55] Unity 8 is an option in 16.10. Not the default, but you can choose it during login [08:56] I try it now. [09:08] i mean this variant : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Install [09:08] We don't have images of that for x86 devices. [09:09] 08:51 < popey> intelpc: but not touch, we haven't ever done a full port of the whole stack to an x86 *phone* [09:09] as I said :) [09:09] http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-touch/daily-preinstalled/current/ [09:09] have you see the *i386* image in this url? [09:11] yes [09:11] i heard [09:12] i heard someone in community who install ubuntu touch on a Thinkpad 8 tablet [09:12] I wouldn't use those images though [09:13] first, if i have skill such as: boot android x86 on hardware, familier with most boot loader. and well know linux. [09:16] i don't see any info about how to boot ubuntu touch using a bootloader [09:16] after google [09:17] just need a little guide or info [09:17] not need a step-by-step guide === mcphail_ is now known as mcphail [12:32] Hello. Is there ant way to edit, via developer mode, and set IMEI settings? [12:35] I think that stuff is buried away in another partition. You may need a tool from the manufacturer to do that. I don't think we provide the tools to do it. === alan_g is now known as alan_g|lunch === chihchun is now known as chihchun_afk === alan_g|lunch is now known as alan_g === dandrader is now known as dandrader|afk [13:41] I don't think canonical would be allowed to distribute a tool to change IMEI === dandrader|afk is now known as dandrader === dandrader is now known as dandrader|afk === dandrader|afk is now known as dandrader === Christoph is now known as Guest23424 [16:07] Hello, [16:07] after reflashing from android to ubuntu touch, the sim cards were unable to register to the network. Searching I noticed that IMEI numbers were not set. In android there is the engineer mode where someone can set these by getting there. [16:07] Is there any way to do it in ubuntu touch, even if I have to edit system files? === JanC_ is now known as JanC [16:25] konnn__: you need to ask your device manufacturer about how to restore the IMEI. you can't do it from within ubuntu touch, afaik [16:27] well, thank you for your reply [16:27] you need a special tool from the manufacturer, generally, to fix IMEI and such [16:28] there are tools for that in android, so certainly in ubuntu is unable? [16:28] Is due to the device or th OS? [16:28] what devices is it dobey ? [16:28] it's not my device, so i don't know [16:29] It is the BQ E5 [16:29] try flashtools of bq [16:29] well i guess you have the tool already. afaik it's the same tool used to repartition the device [16:29] which is exactly how you would have broken it [16:29] sort of [16:30] but I tried to reflash [16:30] when I set the IMEI via engineer mode in android is ok [16:30] then, I try to reflash to ubuntu but ... [16:31] imeis lost again [16:31] is there a mode to repartition in that tool> [16:31] ? [16:32] or icluded in the flash function? [16:32] the partitioning is different for ubuntu than for android. i'm pretty sure there is a way to repartition without flashing, yes [16:32] try this guide http://techprolonged.com/2015/12/fix-invalid-imei-restore-nvram-nandroid-sp-flash-tool/ [16:32] anyway, for specifics on how to fix the issue you really need to talk to bq support [16:36] Well, I' ll tha method, thank you. [16:44] konnn__, as I told you on github the fix on android is just a software fix. ubuntu looks for the imei partitions for that. you really should send it to bq to get it fixed [16:46] Ok, I certainly deeply consider your recomendations and feel thank for that. [16:48] Also, shall go through IAW the previous link and indetify if that is a software or hardware fix? [16:51] I had that problem on one of my devices before and it was just a software fix that wasnt recognized on ubuntu after I tried [16:53] IAW http://techprolonged.com/2015/12/fix-invalid-imei-restore-nvram-nandroid-sp-flash-tool/ ?
