apb1963_apw, Well... what about what "hibernate" does?  Is that not similar?  If app state can be written to disk, then in theory anything that knows how to read the file should be able to run it, once itself is running.  Yes?01:49
apwapb1963_, hibernate relies on the kernle you boot the next time being identicle to the one that closed down08:02
diddledanello, popey asked me to pop-in about a livepatch problem I've encountered. The enable command can't find the socket file because the daemon isn't running after snap install. The instructions say snap install then canonical-livepatch enable, but the snap doesn't have the right interface assigned (kernel-module-control) - it's private bug 163924314:01
ubot5`Error: Launchpad bug 1639243 could not be found14:01
apwdiddledan, as far as i know that is meant to autoconnect, could you include versions of the client and version of snapd installed on the system in the bug14:14
diddledandone14:16
diddledanI see there's an updated snapd available for that box - let me run apt full-upgrade and see where that gets me14:17
diddledanok, that seems to have fixed it - looks like I had an outdated snapd installed14:19
diddledanthanks for the pointer :-)14:20
apwthere is currently at least no way for the snap to express it needs a minimum snapd level14:21
diddledanI'll be willing to bet that's on someone's radar though14:22
diddledansnap is new so these kinds of issues are inevitable I guess - the more we hit them as early adopters, the more-likely they'll be mitigated in time for mainstream user adoption :-)14:24
