[00:11] cor, thermostat in the lounge says it's down to 16 deg C in there, almost worth giving the heating a trial run i think [02:33] OK, so I build myself a ESXI box. Now what VMs do I want? [02:33] FreeDOS [02:33] i thought it was called vSphere these days [02:34] Yeah, well vSphere then. [02:34] i genuinely wasn't sure if they'd kept ESXi for the free tier or something, i requested a trial of vSphere 6.5 a bit ago and got nothing, very irritating [02:34] even the free one i think [02:35] I just downloaded ESXI 6 and installed it. [02:35] Had to customize the installer to include Realtek NIC drivers (it's some old PC with really crappy NIC) [02:36] heh [02:36] Hey, it works. [02:36] hrmm i think i got sent around the houses on the site [02:37] You need a VMware account, but once you create it, just search for ESXI free, login and download. You'll also be given a license key to use. [02:38] yeah here we are [02:38] "Your download request has been received and is under review for download eligibility." [02:38] then it just says "unable to process your request, please try again later" [02:39] Weird [02:40] daftykins, while you're logged in, go here.. https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/evalcenter?p=free-esxi6 [02:40] might be an address thing [02:41] yeah same error [02:41] on the 'license and download' tab [02:43] You can always have my key and ISO if you want [02:45] hmm i wonder if it phones home? [02:46] Probably, but I've re-used keys many times, they really don't give a damn for the free version [02:50] :D [02:50] well that'd be pretty neat if you could, sir [02:50] i was so disappointed when i couldn't play with server 2016's hyper-v due to a core 2 quad not supporting SLAT which it relies upon [02:51] pm? [02:51] sure [03:19] watching this "Westworld (1973)" film tonight [03:20] enjoy esxi [03:20] :D i will! or at least try over the weekend :> [03:21] oh, good film [03:21] Crichton stuff, assuming this was also a book of his, seems to all have a similar theme! [03:24] the Andromeda strain is quite different [03:25] ah that title rings a bell [03:26] I could comment on that but it would give a plot trick away [03:26] :D [05:19] 5am! [06:44] something zmoylan-pi this way comes... [09:36] morning boys and girls. [23:57] wow i can see the whole day in a single screen of scrollback :P [23:58] and [23:58] now [23:58] can [23:58] you? [23:58] yep! [23:58] fair do's i can't stand modern silly letterbox screens [23:59] I guess people have been busy blowing things up [23:59] we had our blow things up day a few days ago...
