jgrimmnot done. :/   will get that sent out today so this action can finally go away16:04
jgrimm(jgrimm) email to ubuntu-devel about powerpc arch future.16:04
jgrimmi held off on doing this ^^  as the tech board has picked this up16:04
smosero/16:05
jgrimmand is in the process of talking to powerpc interested parties to see whether they'll pick up and own burden of the work (as debian is dropping the arch)16:05
jgrimmso i'm going to treat that one as done, except to watch what happens at the TB16:06

jgrimmthank you for everyone that updated the blueprint and snagged workitems already16:08
jgrimm#link https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-z-server-core16:08
jgrimmis there anything anyone wants to discuss with zesty?16:08
rharperjgrimm: that Zesty link doesn't get to a schedule for me16:08
jgrimmoh16:08
powersjdon't think the page has been created yet16:09
rharperyeah, odd16:09
powersjmost of the zesty pages were not up when I updated links16:09
rharperhttps://wiki.ubuntu.com/ZestyZapus/DraftReleaseSchedule16:09
jgrimmyeah, i assumed it would be updated by now16:09
jgrimmthanks rharper16:09
jgrimmanyway, back to discussion, anything?16:09
rharpernothing for me16:10
jgrimma good number of merges being worked, happy to see that16:10
jgrimmand i know cpaelzer has worked out plans around libvirt & qemu merges16:10
rharperjgrimm: oh, the /boot work is being done by foundations (xnox has the task)  ; in particular, /boot isn't needed for lvm installs16:11
jgrimmrharper, cool, we can just track it then16:11
rharperbug 163980116:11
ubottubug 1639801 in partman-auto-lvm (Ubuntu) "we should not create separate /boot partition for LVM+GRUB" [Undecided,Fix released] https://launchpad.net/bugs/163980116:11
rharperyeah16:11
jgrimmthanks!!16:11
xnoxrharper, done, celebrated on http://blog.surgut.co.uk/2016/11/boot-less-lvm-rootfs-in-zesty.html16:12
xnoxplease +1 on google plus too16:12
rharperxnox: \o/16:12
jgrimmxnox, nice!! \o/16:12
xnoxrharper, info if ppc64el can boot off LVM is needed though. I am suspecting that it might be possible to enable ppc64el as well.16:12
xnoxi doubt that arm* with u-boot can do it, generically on all boards.16:12
rharperi think if they can multipath, they should be able to lvm16:12
jgrimmxnox, maybe engage folks  that hang out on #ubuntu-powerpc?16:13
rharperwe can certainly poke IBM for petiteboot changes if needed (it's linux anyhow)16:13
xnoxwell, multipath is "pick any, and use readonly" they look the same.16:13
xnoxjgrimm, oooh, that's a thought.16:13
smoserxnox, well, ppc64el boots via either grub2 or petitboot16:13
jgrimmibmers hanging out there that should know16:13
smosergrub2 probably does work, id' be surprised if it had arch specific errors.16:13
smoserpetitboot i dont know.16:13

smoserjgrimm, i pinged slangasek .. hoping to talk to him today16:30
jgrimmpinged meaning its ready to go? or needing to discuss yet?16:30
smoserrharper and i think that it shoudl be fine, but wanted to see what issues slangasek saw, or what he wnated me to do.16:30
rharperit's ready16:31
jgrimmok good, that one's hot.16:31
jgrimmother open discussion?16:31
smoseri'm fairly sure we do not regress anything. the only thing would be a system with cloud-init and systemd-networkd which probably didnt work that well already.16:31
rharperpowersj: I propose we look at figuring out some systemcd unit ordering tests; smoser and I have a few scenarios that we can describe16:32
jgrimmsmoser, but that sounds like a follow-up bug then?16:32
rharperjgrimm: the bug is already open16:32
jgrimmok, good.16:32
rharperthere is an upstream issue with networkd and dbus16:32
jgrimmack, i know that one16:32
rharperwe might see if pitti wants to branch that separate issue off from cloud-init related16:32
powersjrharper: will you send me bug # so I can get context16:32
rharperit turns out that networkd wasn't fully baked w.r.t running super early (ie before dbus.service )16:33
rharperpowersj: yes, on sec16:33
