[08:12] good day people o/ [08:18] good morning folks [08:22] morning everyone [08:25] amine, nzoueidi o/ [08:29] Morning folks [08:35] elacheche, o/ good day [08:37] did someone say Data Science? :D [08:37] \o/ no one xD [08:43] :) [08:49] anyone worked with ubus before by any chance? [08:50] not me [08:50] amine: did you ever used pfSense? [08:51] I remember once when I was a student :p [08:51] why? [08:52] nzoueidi, you forgot to check your email :P [08:53] amine, you code in C at work? [08:53] Just to ask about your thoughts comparing it with OpenWRT, in case you have a hardware that supports both of them.. :) [08:53] emm, I think they do have different purposes? isnt pfsense more about network security and administration right? [08:54] openwrt is for embedded systems [08:54] Morning o/ [08:54] SalahMessaoud, \o [08:58] Morning SalahMessaoud, amine pfSense works on embdded systems as well.. afaik, it offers the services that OpenWRT offers, WiFi managment, Captive Portal, DMZ, DHCP, DSN, stats, QoS, etc, and more security things like a good FW and VPN server etc.. [09:00] pfSense® software has the flexibility to be installed on a wide range of hardware, but it is currently supported only on the x86 architecture [09:00] from pfsense website [09:01] There is an ARM version as well.. [09:02] It's based on FreeBSD, so it works whenever FreeBSD works [09:20] amine, what language do you use at work? :) [09:26] @elacheche have you used both? if yes did you see any differences? [09:27] @praisethemoon, depends on what Im working on but 90% C [09:28] and sometimes Perl and Python for some cloud work [09:28] C is awesome [09:28] o/ [09:28] high five [09:28] C is love, C is life [09:28] omg [09:28] <3 [09:29] You sir, are awesome. [09:29] but its harder to understand if someone doesnt write comments or document his work... thats what Im struggling with right now [09:29] callbacks everywhere [09:29] oh damn [09:29] teach him how to good_pattern .. [09:29] wait, i have a tweet for you [09:30] well, in embedded software most people trade efficiency for beauty [09:30] I agree :( [09:30] so they write optimized code but a bit ugly and chaotic [09:30] check this https://twitter.com/iamdevloper/status/796781099540103168 [09:30] thanks to elacheche xD [09:30] :D [09:31] well, the thing is when you work with open source projects most of the time there will be no documentation [09:31] you have to dig in by yourself and swim in the sea of code [09:31] until you have that "aha" moment when you finally understand what is happening [09:35] amine: Open Source projcts should be well documented.. At least with comments inside code.. Whenever you get tha aha moment add a comment explaining it ;) Comments will not lose the code optimization, will they?! [09:36] amine: I use pfSense, had hands on OpenWRT ones years ago, I don't really rememebr much than I described above [09:36] no they wont, but after spending a long time debugging code the last thing I will think about is adding comments to that code xD (I know its bad) [09:37] x) I feel you :D [09:38] amine: what do you use as OS? [09:42] I was using OpenSuSe on my desktop at work and Neon (Kubuntu) on work laptop [09:42] yup two different stuff :p [09:42] but at least both Im using KDE as a DE [09:44] lool x) An other KDE guy around x) [09:45] I really like Plasma [09:45] so beautiful [09:45] there are annoying bugs but its getting better [09:45] they * [09:46] I don't use KDE.. :) I don't like it x) [09:50] why not [09:51] I just don't like it x) [09:53] Im using Windows 10 also in my "gaming" desktop [09:53] thats the only connection I have with Windows [09:53] maybe with the new Vulkan API things wioll change [09:54] :) [10:26] did someone mention kde? [10:26] u-la-la, ddg KDE [10:26] praisethemoon: KDE An international free software community producing an integrated set of cross-platform... :: Kernel density estimation A non-parametric way to estimate the probability density function of a random variable. :: KDE Plasma 5 KDE Plasma 5 refers to the latest iteration of the desktop environment created by KDE primarily... :: KDE Software Compilation A desktop environment and an associated range of KDE Applications pr [10:27] thank you u-la-la [11:28] bjr elacheche [11:28] tu as vu le mail de ISIMUx ? [11:31] Bonjour nizarus, oui, j'ai pas pu le lire x( too much blue.. I'll try to reread again and understand.. It's not that clear :/ [12:18] lol :) tu n'aime pas le bleu :p [12:18] bon je viens de lui répondre. [12:20] I was about to tell him to join us on sfd as well.. But there is other requests in the mail that I couldn't read becasue of the blue, and too busy to copy/paste it somewhere else and focus with it.. So I didn't said anything [12:24] for that I don't like HTML mails x) [12:29] blue is windows color [12:29] :D [13:49] Hello o/ [14:23] Hello :) [14:23] ping SalahMessaoud [14:29] Chikore, how are you doing? [14:42] Hey I'm fine [14:42] I just want to ask people here who will go to SFD? [14:44] Chikore: almost all the peeps here will be in the SFD except pavlushka :D [14:45] why? [14:45] cause we want to go :P [14:47] elacheche: by the way, after the mail from Rached how we will organize our workshops? [14:49] praisethemoon: ^ [14:54] Chikore: may be nzoueidi thinks I use self modified proprietary Ubuntu, that's why :p [14:54] or I am an NSFD enthusiast. [14:55] like NSFW [15:03] hahaha :D [15:05] May be you are using a NSFW distro? :D [15:22] nzoueidi: We will see, based on the poll, it's me you & praisethemoon, we will see how much time we'll have, and share it between us as needed, also we need to prepare our requirments, so we can help each others installingthem on the VMs or laptops when the other one is pesenting the workshop [15:23] okay inchallah [15:23] I should start planning my docker scenario by tonight.. Maybe running simple Drupal or HTML webapp will be good.. 2 or 3 cts for each service including the DATA one.. I don't know.. [15:42] For me I still writing my prez for the 3rd time, I try each time to get it more simpler.. [15:46] No prez for me.. Just 2 or 3 slides about Docker Def + docker vs virtualisation.. After that I'll attack the cli [15:48] That's what I am doing :D 4 slides as max then the MAGIC :D [19:14] o/ [19:14] AcidNinjaFWHR, o/ [19:15] hey 0/ [19:15] how is it going AcidNinjaFWHR? [19:16] fine thanks. [19:17] AcidNinjaFWHR, how was your day? [19:18] boring, as always. [19:18] Got to run pricing cycles on the ERP [19:18] why [19:18] one cycle takes 8 hours [19:19] :( [19:19] because my company updates its prices one time every year. [19:19] (commercial prices, and costing prices) [19:19] AcidNinjaFWHR, change company :D [19:19] well 1st the costing ofc, then the commercial price [19:19] XD [19:19] no I won't because i'm the only one to know how to do that :D [19:20] $_$ [19:20] uhh [19:20] i'll work with you :D [19:23] Yeahhhhhhh [19:25] :D [19:25] AcidNinjaFWHR, so, what do you do in your free time? [19:25] Chikore, hey! [19:26] well well I'm watching some tv shows [19:27] AcidNinjaFWHR, what about pegasus?
