[13:46] keynote is in 15min: http://summit.ubuntu.com/uos-1611/2016-11-15/ [13:55] Good morning [13:55] morning [13:56] good morning [13:56] morning [21:42] Afternoon and all that. [21:45] 'zactly [21:46] what do you say to someone at work who wants to change your entire desk setup for "dual monitors" when you don't like that? [21:46] Have you tried dual monitors? [21:46] seriously, i use one so i don't lose things. just because i don't work the same way as you do (you damn millennial) doesn't mean i'm freaking WRONG [21:47] yes, it's a pain in my backside and i don't particularly like it. [21:47] I find dual monitors handy but I can understand the pushback [21:47] Use one as a wallpaper monitor. [21:47] also "use the remote desktop, it's so much better" [21:47] so you have an ever-changing picture in your office. :) [21:47] no, i can't pull reports out of CoDeP and save them properly with that [21:48] Ah, then you have something you can push back with [21:48] i tile, as well as i can in windows 7 [21:48] Then tell them "my work becomes more difficult with two monitors" [21:49] he offered another monitor and i laughed. it was so tiny! it was CUTE [21:49] (i have a CAD laptop, my monitor is much larger) [21:49] i guess i just don't like people telling me how to setup my workspace. just because it works for you doesn't mean it will work for me. [21:50] That's understandable [21:50] i'm particular about how my stuff is setup. don't force me to change. [21:50] i'm a grumpy old [21:50] i can say that because the guy training me is under 30 [21:50] heh [21:50] brb [21:50] i'm 35. hence grumpy old [21:50] ok! [23:21] ha! [23:21] so true. [23:44] I've found both doual monitors and single monitors can be productive [23:44] I prefer the dual monitors when I'm developing as I can keep docs / browsers opn in another tab [23:44] er, monitor [23:45] but I wouldn't presume to make it mandatory [23:45] $lastjob had a dual monitor workspace by default for everyone in the company [23:45] but a lot of folks had multiple applications open that they used to check data and what-not [23:45] again, presumption is the devil.
