SporkWitchanyone else notice any issues with gpg in 16.10?  running into quite a few, between it putting sockets in the wrong directories (which you apparently cannot change), randomly forgetting my smartcard is there (requiring me to kill gpg-agent and restart it), and ssh-agent running for some undetermined reason (possibly causing conflicts).  Further, it also keeps trying to use a subkey for which no02:08
SporkWitchsecret key is available, rather than the one for which a stub is present02:08

=== zippy is now known as Guest66381
valorieweird, SporkWitch -- can you report that in #kubuntu-devel ?05:27
valorieI added it with no such problem, but that was awhile ago05:27
SporkWitchlooks like it's the symlink05:27
SporkWitchremoved it, added repo (and didn't get that weird "no openpgp data" message), and now it doesn't complain about keys.  put symlink back in place and it still behaves.  presumably this is resolved in 16.10, since 2.1.15 is there as gpg rather than gpg205:29
SporkWitchvalorie: so looks like it's not worth filing an issue; i suspect symlinking gpg2 as gpg is rather an edge case05:29

yocs0000Hi all, I am on 16.04 .... I would like the very last version of plasma, what is the best way in your opinion?15:02
yocs0000To install 16.10 or to backport or ....15:02
BluesKajyocs0000, ok you want plasma 5.8.3 at launchapad staging-plasma and staging-frameworks ppas15:07
yocs0000BluesKaj: is that the best way, or is it better if I upgrade to 16.10?15:11
BluesKajyocs0000, I'm on 16.10, but those ppas are available for 16.04 as well15:19
BluesKajfrankly i think 16.10 is more stable than 16.04 IME15:20
grekhi is possible to run plasma 4 in kubuntu 16.10 ? i have screen settings bug in 14.04 work fine now stop work (usb screen)15:22
BluesKajno15:24
grekok thanks15:25
yocs0000BluesKaj: thank you! How do you upgrade? Is it possible to do it using a graphical interface?15:29
BluesKajyocs0000,  I recommend this: sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade, then, sudo do-release-upgrade , in the terminal. Make sure you switch the update manager to normal from LTS upgrades Only, first15:33
=== user|31122 is now known as dramkler
acheronukyocs0000: please do not add those ppas to 16.04. on their own, they will not work for Xenial15:38
acheronukBluesKaj: as above ^^^15:40
BluesKajacheronuk, thy're listed in the OS drop down ,in the framewqorks, and suddenly the dropdown in staging-plasma disappeared (Technical details about this ppa - choose your version)15:45
BluesKajit was there yesterday15:45
BluesKajany acheronuk he's not going to use them on xenial, he's upgrading to yakkety first15:46
BluesKajanyway15:46
acheronukBluesKaj: they have Xenial packages in them, but without some other ppas on top, the upgrade will be broken15:47
BluesKajok , good ..I advised him to upgrade to 16.10 first since it's more stable IME15:48
acheronukend users should not really be adding our staging ppas anyway. only testers who are aware of the hazards. the packages in those ppas may be removed at any time, or updated with something new that is incomplete or broken while we work on it15:49
genii!staging15:50
genii...there used to be a factoid something to that effect15:50
BluesKajsome users like to be adventurous without being "testers" :-)15:51
fakam Hello I am having graphic issues. http://imgur.com/a/gJ18P  here is a image, when I'm playing a video or just at random black spaces appear and or the window frame vanishes on some windows.. Appreciate the help.21:20
oemmacbuntu is tight21:20
fakamalso is it possible to put unity on kde to see if maybe this fixes the issues?21:21
valoriefakam: how would a desktop have any influence on graphical driver issues?21:23
fakamI don't know.21:23
fakamMaybe how it renders the desktop?21:23
valorieyou can try `sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall`21:25
valorieor safer, `sudo ubuntu-drivers list`21:25
valoriesee what's available and do your own research21:25
valorieubuntu-drivers help has info as well21:26

SporkWitchapt-get install muon, then either wait a bit or restart.  the graphical driver wizard will work now.21:33
SporkWitchin 16.04, Discover and the additional drivers wizard are broken because muon isn't actually installed by default.  Installing it explicitly makes them work again.21:34
SporkWitch(or rather, makes them work at all)21:34
Eli2_out of curiostiy are there any reasons not to install muon ?21:34
Eli2_or why was it taken out of the default21:35
valorieSporkWitch: that sounds like a bug21:35
valoriepackaging error21:35
SporkWitchvalorie: it's fixed in 16.10 as far as i can tell21:35
valoriesure, but 16.04 is our LTS21:35
valoriewe support it for 3 years I believe21:35
SporkWitchFINE i'll submit a bug lol21:35
* SporkWitch is LAZY21:36
valoriethank you!21:36
valorieubuntu-bug discover makes it less painful21:36
SporkWitchit's not just discover, though, it's the driver wizard, as well as anything else that depends on muon, as well21:37
SporkWitchlol, ubuntu-bug froze21:38
SporkWitchhow should i submit the bug report for ubuntu bug freezing when you hit cancel? lol21:39
valorieyikes21:39
valorieI actually did that once, and supposedly they fixed it21:39
valorieit's called "apport" I found out21:39
SporkWitchyeah, apport-kde21:39
SporkWitchwhat's the url to just submit the report normally? lol21:39
valoriehttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/muon/+bugs is the closest I could find21:43
valorieso much better if you can get apport to work though21:43
=== oem is now known as uberdub
valorieyou could try `apport-kde -f -p discover21:45

SporkWitchlol, command not found21:45
SporkWitchthis just keeps getting better21:45
valorie-f = --file-bug and -p = package21:46
valorieI was looking in man apport-kde21:46
SporkWitchapport-cli works21:46
SporkWitchyou want it on muon, discover, or  the driver wizard?21:46
SporkWitchseems like it should be on muon, since the issue is that muon isn't included in the default installed packages21:46
valorieoh, apport-cli -f -p package21:46
valoriesorry21:47
[Relic]can anyone using plasma 5.8 tell me if it still has the sort alphabetically forced, when set to do not sort?21:47
valorieok, that's a good thought process21:47
valoriebecause IMO it should be included21:47
valorieI still find it far superior to Discover21:47
SporkWitchit needs to be, because Discover and the driver wizard don't work without it21:47
=== santa is now known as Guest96706
SporkWitchdiscover doesn't work without it; you can click things, but it has display bugs, and all search functionality is nonfunctional, until you install muon itself21:47
SporkWitch(that said, i only use discover for browsing; i do my maint with aptitude)21:48
SporkWitchgah, i'll have to file it when i get home, need to set up / recover a ubuntu one account, apparently21:48
SporkWitchif you don't see a submission on muon from rob.klebes@gmail.com poke me the next time you see me, but i should remember21:49
SporkWitcho/21:49
valoriethanks SporkWitch21:49
[Relic]had to install the muon package manager, hate discover and it never worked well21:50

ubottuLaunchpad bug 1643715 in muon (Ubuntu) "Muon package not installed by default" [Undecided,New]22:59
valorieoh thank you very much22:59
SporkWitchyup; i doubt the auto-attached files will be of any use, i saw some errors in them, but it's not related to the issue, which is muon not actually being installed by default22:59
SporkWitch(and the issue isn't specific to the machine i submitted from)23:00
valoriestill, that gives the devels a way to easily check that23:00
valorieso did ubuntu-bug finally come through for you?23:00
