jesse__Hello04:24
jticketHello.04:25

ObrienDavei think so, can't remember exactly07:45
Guest68595And has onyone install on an XPS 13?07:46
ObrienDavetry asking in #ubuntu07:46
Guest68595installing mate but I'll try that07:47
ObrienDavethat question can be answered in #ubuntu. whis channel is more Mate specific :)07:48
ObrienDave*this07:48
Guest68595okay thanks07:48
r4yI am afraid to do sudo apt-get dist-upgrade but I need to know what the source list should be. I am running Linux Mint 17.2 Mate Desktop Environment 1.10.207:55
r4yI know where to save it and will not need help changing it. I just want the right list07:56

DerRaidenr4y: why do you need the source list08:27
r4yI am looking to the right way to go about doing this08:28
r4yhttp://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&p=1472158708:28
r4yjump to the bottom of that page08:28
r4yI am currently reading this link:08:29
r4yv08:29
r4yhttp://www.2daygeek.com/upgrade-linux-mint-17-3-to-linux-mint-18/#08:29
ObrienDavebetter to ask in the mint channel on irc.spotchat.org08:30
r4yUnable to locate package mintupgrade08:31
r4yI am on the linuxmint channel of freenode as well08:31
ObrienDavethe spotchat channel is the official mint channel08:32
r4yI figured I might as well make sure to check here as well considering that this is both mate and Linux Mint08:32
ObrienDaveno.... this is Ubuntu Mate. a different animal :)08:32
r4yI get it now, so now although Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu you have informed me that it is too different08:33
ObrienDaveyes, unfortunately, different distros add too much of their own stuff to be considered identical cores08:35
x2xx3xI'm on 14.04-mate using marco. i have got a problem with dual monitors. when i switch a video to fullscreen on monitor 2 it changes the screen to monitor 1. I have had a solution for that but cant find it within my local irc-logs. So i am not sure if this: http://askubuntu.com/questions/43755/how-to-select-in-what-monitor-youtube-fullscreens was the solution.09:58
pavlushkax2xx3x: can you give us the paste of xrandr in terminal using paste.ubuntu.com?10:02
pavlushkax2xx3x: and how you setup the monitors?10:04
x2xx3xhttp://paste.ubuntu.com/23571876/10:04
pavlushkaI mean in which order in settings?10:04
x2xx3xorder?10:05
x2xx3xi have got a big one - thats monitor1 (primary monitor) and a smaller one which is right of10:06
x2xx3xbut is shown up as absolute within the x-config-file10:07
x2xx3xboth monitors did not show the same content - monitor 2 is an extension of monitor 1, so it is one big desktop10:09
x2xx3xis this what u wanted to know?10:09
pavlushkax2xx3x: yep10:17
pavlushkax2xx3x: and the web browser you use?10:18
x2xx3xfirefox 50.0210:18
x2xx3xhtml5 player did not change screens. so its a flash-thing i guess...10:19
pavlushkax2xx3x: already tried the second solution of your mentioned askubuntu link?10:25
x2xx3xali1234/fullscreenhack ?10:27
pavlushkayep10:29
ali1234hey what?10:29
ali1234i haven't touched that program in like 4 years so it might not work any more10:29
pavlushkaali1234: oh my10:30
x2xx3xoh - he is here??10:30
x2xx3xwtf!!!10:30
x2xx3xhi10:30
ali1234yes... im here...10:30
ali1234yes fullscreenhack will only work with flash10:32
ali1234the html5 player does not seem to have any problem staying on the right screen for me10:32
x2xx3xi tried it out now... do i need a reboot? it did not work for me now.10:33
ali1234you don't need to reboot ut you do need to restart firefox10:33
x2xx3xi did, but does still not work10:34
ali1234"With NPAPI the Flash fullscreen window opens on the monitor where the Flash plugin was first opened"10:35
x2xx3xfullscreen still pops out of the player and opens on primary monitor10:35
ali1234i remember this now10:35
pavlushkax2xx3x: another method described here, a bit hard lined, http://www.webupd8.org/2012/10/ubuntu-multi-monitor-tweaks-full-screen.html10:35
ali1234x2xx3x: try closing firefox and then starting it. move the firefox window to second monitor before loading a video page, and then go fullscreen10:36
pavlushkax2xx3x: to revert if the flash stops working after that hack, just reinstall the flash.10:37
x2xx3xrestarting, moving and then go fullscreen also does not work on my machine. hmmmmm10:39
ali1234note that fullscreenhack doesn't attempt to change which monitor it goes fullscreen on10:39
ali1234it fixes the bad letterboxing10:40
x2xx3xaha - so fullscreenhack will have no effect for wrong display shown up flash-vids10:41
x2xx3x?10:42
ali1234it shouldn't do10:42
x2xx3xwhat means bad letterboxing?10:42
ali1234letterboxing all around the video10:42
ali1234like double letterboxing10:43
ali1234so video looks like this http://al.robotfuzz.com/~al/fullscreenhack/.images/flash-fullscreen-1.jpg10:43
x2xx3xoh10:43
pavlushkax2xx3x: tried this, "sudo sed -i 's/_NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW/_AET_ACTIVE_WINDOW/g' /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so" ?10:43
x2xx3xno that was not my problem :)10:43
x2xx3xpavalushka: i did now try out the sed... also with no effect10:46
x2xx3xi got an update... i wants me to reboot. i will be back on in i few seconds..10:47
pavlushkax2xx3x: as it appears that flash is set to show videos fullscreen to primary monitor.10:48
x2xx3xyay... now monitor 2 is my primary...10:50
x2xx3xhmm - changed it in the x settings and changed back again .. now the monitors are in correct order again..10:52
x2xx3xthe flash thing still doesnt work..10:52
x2xx3xshould i install a different version of flash?10:53
x2xx3xor can i change that settings of my current flash somehow?10:59

RedBHi I'm using Ubuntu-Mate 16.10 in Dutch and I saw some awful translationsmistakes. Where can I get involved to solve this? I would love to help.14:17
ouroumovHi RedB14:17
RedBHi :-)14:18
ouroumovI'm looking for the link14:18
=== flo is now known as Guest29029
ouroumovRedB, https://www.transifex.com/ubuntu-mate/public/14:20
ouroumovRedB, that's for UM specific stuff14:21
ouroumovRedB, however if the problem comes from upstream MATE, you want to look here: https://www.transifex.com/mate/MATE/14:21
ouroumovRedB, also some how-tos here: http://wiki.mate-desktop.org/translation14:22
RedBWell i think i can manage with all this! thanks @ouroumov!14:23
ouroumovThanks to you RedB :)14:24

panelshello, i just installed ubuntu mate 16.04, and suddenly i noticed, both top and bottom panels have vanished - how do i get those back?14:48
ali1234what happens when you right click on the desktop?14:49
panelsthe menu that usually appears, does appear, create folder, create launcher ... change desktop background14:51
ali1234got "new terminal"?14:51
panelsnot exactly "new terminal", "Open in Terminal", thus yes i have access to terminal14:53
ali1234okay, open a terminal and run "mate-panel"14:54
panels"Cannot register the panel shell: there is already one running."14:54
ali1234try "mate-panel --reset"14:56
ali1234that will reset your configuration14:56
panelsi can see the desktop icons move little bit - but the panels won't appear14:58
ali1234try "mate-panel --replace"14:58
panels"Unable to open desktop file /usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop for panel launcher: No such file or directory" - i have removed firefox , mate-panel --replace can't finish due to that15:01
panelsmaybe i should reinstall firefox15:04
panelsbut regardless it seems mate-panel is too dependent on certain applications being installed15:07
ali1234i doubt that is the actual problem15:08
ouroumovtry anyway15:09
panelsno error occurs now, but mate-panel --replace just hangs - and no panels15:12
panelsoh15:13
panels"Panel leaving: a new panel shell is starting.  (mate-panel:8004): EggSMClient-CRITICAL **: egg_sm_client_set_mode: assertion 'global_client == NULL || global_client_mode == EGG_SM_CLIENT_MODE_DISABLED' failed"15:13
panelsand no panels15:13
ouroumovI'm wondering if this might be a screen size issue, like the panels are here but out of sight15:15
ouroumovSince you have terminal access, you can try creating a new user then log in with the new user15:16
ouroumovsudo adduser dummy15:16
panelsi do happen to have second  screen, and panels have reappared there, but not into this monitor15:16
ouroumovPanels don't span dual monitors15:16
ouroumovYou have to add new panels to the new monitor15:17
panelsgo figure, i haven't selected anything like span displays nor mirroring but by default ubuntu mate was mirroring the displays from getgo15:18
panelsthen at some point, the panels just vanished from my main monitor and i didn't remember to check situation on another screen15:19
tgm4883Using 16.10, how can I stop Mate from disabling my second monitor when a game goes full screen?15:37
