I have installed KDE and I am wondering if I can install unity so I can switch back and forth between the two. [05:41] pfff, stick around if you want answers! [06:05] hello is there a channel for questions concerning the tv series "person of interest"? i want to know who tailored harold's suits === zippy is now known as Guest50762 [06:08] !alis | ffmamk [06:08] ffmamk: Alis is an IRC service to help you find channels. For help on using it, see "/msg Alis help list" or ask in #freenode. Example usage: "/msg Alis list http" [06:08] ty valorie <3 [06:09] personally I would ask in the imdb forums [06:09] you aren't likely to get much interest in technical irc channels! [06:11] so what kind of people are usually hanging around here? i mean besides hackers and vendors for illegal stuff hahahah [06:14] this is the quiet time, between the Americas and Europe [06:15] mostly kubuntu people, willing to help others [06:15] illegal anything is immediately removed [06:16] im in europe right now [06:17] i like #kubuntu, you guys helped me a lot getting started [06:18] that's why we're here [06:18] we also have a chat channel: #kubuntu-offtopic [06:19] which is where we should move this unless you need support using kubuntu [06:22] alright, one more question. is there a list of irc code? i just saw some +R or +i [06:24] those are channel flags [06:24] I think that freenode has some docs [06:25] read the motd on your channel tab [06:25] motd=message of the day [06:41] something something broken multimonitor [06:42] in what version of kubuntu, hateball? Ugh. [06:44] :( [06:44] dangit [06:44] well, backports doesn't have magic in it [06:44] backports-landing might [06:45] but my test on 16.04 was not successful === zippy is now known as Guest97203 [06:45] so I would only advise it on sacrificable kit [06:45] and make sure you have ppa-purge installed [06:46] !ppapurge [06:46] To disable a PPA from your sources and revert your packages back to default Ubuntu packages, install ppa-purge and use the command: « sudo ppa-purge ppa:/ » – For more information, see http://www.webupd8.org/2009/12/remove-ppa-repositories-via-command.html [06:46] Yeah this is my work machine, so I'll make do with the current state of brokenness rather than try landing-brokenness :p [06:47] we do need more testers though [06:47] but not work machines [06:48] :-) [06:49] Yeah, I only have 1 monitor at home tho so it's hard to test [07:35] do kde releases still get backported? e.g. plasma 5.8 in kubuntu 16.10? [07:56] how is it different than backports ppa? [07:57] when is it planned to go into backports, if at all? Qt 5.6.1 has a bug in QTimeZone component that affects Plasma desktop and which seems to be fixed in 5.6.2 ( https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-53071 ). Although it is possible to work around this bug by manually modifying qml files of plasma lockscreen and digital clock, it is not suitable solution for all timezones. === kubuntu is now known as Guest76833
