=== JanC is now known as Guest61812 === JanC_ is now known as JanC [08:16] I have Ubuntu 12.04 with the trusty kernel/xorg, i.e. 3.13/ 2:1.15.1-0ubuntu2~precise5 [08:16] I have a very new intel graphics card: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Device [8086:1912] (rev 06) [08:17] 1912 does not appear in modules.pcidep of 3.13, but it appears in e.g. 4+ kernels [08:17] I only want to be able to use 1024x768 instead of 640x480. But adding that mode in xorg.conf doesn't appear to work. Can I use vesa instead? [08:17] ...and, how? :) [09:06] Hehe, I managed to get linux-image-4.4.0-57-generic from trusty installed to precise, after also installing kmod from wheezy-backports... :D [09:08] Just for the logs, here's the list I used: [09:08] http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/l/linux-lts-xenial/linux-image-4.4.0-57-generic_4.4.0-57.78~14.04.1_i386.deb [09:08] http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/k/kmod/kmod_9-3_i386.deb [09:08] http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/main/k/kmod/module-init-tools_15-0ubuntu6_all.deb [09:08] http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/k/kmod/libkmod2_9-3_i386.deb [09:48] alkisg: trusty with lts-vivid stack is first that supports skylake [09:48] anything older and you're on your own [10:21] 1204 is eol in 5mo [10:21] fyi [10:26] Yeah we really need to fix the "can't type in greek" issue past 12.04 so that we can move on... :) [10:26] Thank you tjaalton! === JanC is now known as Guest57833 === JanC_ is now known as JanC
