[00:30] <ohemdevin> I'm using the Nvidia open-source drivers and they work without a hitch, but if you're using a newer Nvidia card, then you'll probably want to be using the proprietary drivers.

[00:35] <ohemdevin> Yes. There is a welcome screen when you start Ubuntu MATE for the first time that will allow you to install the Ubuntu Software Centre.

[00:38] <ohemdevin> Also, as long as that software is available in the default Ubuntu repos, then you can install them and they should work as intended on any desktop environment that you choose.
