aptgetproblemcan I post a problem here that im having?02:28
valorieya could02:39
poco_hey guys got a question for ya03:03
poco_I'm installing Kubuntu on an SSD and HDD. I want the SSD for boot and some other frquently used programs and the HDD for everything else. I was thinking of making the SSD root and the HDD /home but then apps like Steam, Wine, Spotify, etc will install to a "/." directory, correct? Will I have to manually change all of these? Is there any easier way?03:04
yeehipoco - you could try installing Kubuntu onto the SSD, forget about the HDD03:33
yeehiThen, after Kubuntu is installed, search for the HDD in Dolphin.03:33
yeehiYou ought to be able to find it somewhere in /media/poco/myharddisk03:34
yeehithen, mount the hard disk, (format it if necessary) and then use that for storage of things like videos pictures documents etc.03:35
yeehiYou would need to set your application defaults to save things in the hard disk. For example, Firefox would download to the /media/poco/harddiskname03:36
yeehiinstead of /home/poco/Downloads03:36
yeehiYou would need to do this for all the applications you use. Go into settings, and change default storage locations03:36
poco_awesome, thank you yeehi04:02

jadewany ideas on what's wrong with the display scaling and how to fix it?18:12
jadewthe difference between 1.4 and 1.5 is huge18:13
jadewI think it doubles18:13
jadewso 1.4 is too small and 1.5 is too big18:13
BluesKajjadew, what's your resolution?18:14
jadew1280x1024, 1920x1080 and 1280x102418:14
BluesKaj3 monitors?18:16
jadewyeah18:16
jadewI'd like to be able to set the DPI manually, but that never seemed to be easy18:17
BluesKajdunno how multiple displays works , i just use my plasma TV so there' only one primary display18:18
jadewthere's something wrong with the scaling math18:19
jadewhttp://imgur.com/a/ImYNQ18:20
BluesKajyes, I have thaqt as well, but just leave it at the default18:22
jadewat the default it's too small18:22
jadewat 1.4 is too small too18:22
jadewat 1.5 it gets too big18:23
BluesKajmine is 1 , that's 1920x1080 res18:23
jadewBluesKaj: that doesn't mean much, it's all about the detected DPI18:24
BluesKajDPI here is 96 in fonts that's the only DPI setting I have any control over18:26
BluesKajare you running an xorg.config file?18:27
jadewno18:27
jadewit never works from one update to the next18:27
koffeinfriedhofjadew: never done, but you may check for xrandr --scale18:28
jadewkoffeinfriedhof: I'll look into it, thanks18:28
koffeinfriedhofjadew: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HiDPI#Multiple_displays18:28
BluesKajthere might be some tutorials out there about setting multiple monitors in a xserver-xorg,conf file18:29
jadewBluesKaj: I've been doing this for many years, xorg.conf is not reliable18:29
MOUDBluesKaj, ok, thanks.18:29
jadewit breaks with every update18:29
jadewevery couple of months you have to start over18:29
jadewbut yeah, that solves it, because you can specify the DPI18:30
jadewany idea what "output" means for xrandr?18:31
jadewit has a bunch of options that take "output"18:31
BluesKajjadew, ok, i recall waaay back having to setup the xorg file for my old monitors, but haven't needed one for a long time18:33
koffeinfriedhofoutput is the "target" →monitor/display18:33
jadewkoffeinfriedhof: thought so, but they have --output and then they have --display18:34
koffeinfriedhofjadew: this is for multiple Xserver. display is the X display18:36
jadewbrb, I have to relogin18:36
koffeinfriedhofnormally you won't have more than one on your system18:36

edgyvo1pbx: baloo is the part of KDE that allows you to search. baloo package is transitional to baloo-kf5 but it's still baloo22:48
