[02:37] sorry wrong channel [02:37] no worries [04:27] There are some major inconsistencies with the natural scrolling feature when enabled through the GUI. Some applications scroll correctly and some don't. It's really confusing and frustrating. I found a fix that works well here: https://robotsfuckyeahalloneword.svbtle.com/universal-natural-scrolling-in-xubuntu-1604 . Is there any way to check if this bug has been filed? I would be happy to try and create a fix if necessary. I installed Xubuntu on an more or less old little laptop to use it for youtube, facebook, basic internet browsing. So far i like it BUT firefox is very very slow. it is possible to listen to music via youtube but watching a video isn't (sometimes i can see about 5 frames per minute). also scrolling on facebook is a pain. i decreased the swap use following some guide. i think it made a small difference but still its very slow. any i [15:54] thanks a lot [15:55] how much ram?? [15:55] 1gb [15:55] (i think so, i cant find systeminformation here) [15:56] kwomp, even for xubuntu that's pretty minimal and firefox can be quite resource hungry. [15:56] I suggest 1. install lxde (or lubuntu) and 2. a lighter browser [15:56] !browser [15:56] Some of the Web Browsers in Ubuntu's repositories include: Firefox (XUL, Gecko), Rekonq (KDE, WebKit), Konqueror (KDE, KHTML/WebKit), Chromium (GTK+, WebKit), Epiphany(GTK+, WebKit), Arora (Qt/KDE, WebKit), Midori (GTK+, WebKit), w3m (terminal-based), links2 (terminal-based or graphical, see !manpage), edbrowse (terminal-based). Along with many others. [15:57] is lxde another operating system? [15:57] wich lighter browser would you recommend? [15:58] no, just the desktop environment. lubuntu uses lxde and is also optimized for older/slower hardware. [15:59] okay. i thought that was the reason i choose xubuntu. [15:59] I think midori is supposed to be the lightest [15:59] xubuntu is good, but it's not optimized in the same manner that lubuntu is [16:00] but test for yourself. sudo apt install lxde then logout. choose lxde/lubuntu session at the boot screen and login [16:00] okay i will try this. thank you [16:00] if you like what you see and want the full meal deal, you can easily delete xubuntu-desktop and install lubunt-desktop [17:34] can anyone clue me in on how to change the background of the lock screen in 16.04? [17:44] Maybe with light DM settings [17:48] checked the gui, have correct background set, however it does not display on the lock screen. just a blue background. [18:05] glitchd: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2337343 might help you [18:05] flocculant, thx ill have a look at it [18:06] flocculant, i believe that page is talking about the login screen, however my login screen is working/displaying correctly. my problem is specifically the background of the lock screen. [18:07] oh sorry [18:08] flocculant, np thx for the effort [18:08] glitchd: afaik lock screen with lightdm is black [18:09] never seen a way to change that [18:09] flocculant, nope, its a blue wavy picture on my install [18:09] this is the first time ive not been able to have it the same as by login screen background [18:18] Buonasera, chi fornirebbe assistenza per un problema con la sospensione in Xubuntu? [20:22] Why wouldn't you? [20:23] their system requirements say KDE or GNOME desktop, but i assume that means you'll have to have either Qt or GTK+ [20:24] i heard that it needs KDE [20:24] oh [20:25] that doesnt sound that bad [20:26] cause i don't want to pass on the lightweight system [20:26] thank You :) [22:35] hello?
