* DarinMiller_ is zsync'ing daily now....01:08
wxlwe should be getting milestones soon01:12
tsimonq2wxl: Thank you for poking me btw01:12
wxlhttp://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/371/builds01:12
wxltsimonq2: the fact we're not seeing any images there is perhaps concerning. might want to check on that01:22
acheronukhttps://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-cdimage/+livefs/ubuntu/zesty/kubuntu01:22
tsimonq2wxl: I did...01:23
tsimonq2O_______________O01:23
tsimonq2Thanks a bunch acheronuk :)01:24
acheronukthat's where the daily gets build. not sure if the same01:24

ubottuDebian bug 838441 in apt "apt-get update fails with "Hash Sum mismatch", mixes hashes between tar.gz and tar file" [Normal,Open]01:32
wxlwonder why not affecting lubuntu01:33
tsimonq2acheronuk: You're the best at that, as always. Thank you. :)01:34
acheronukwxl: as lubuntu don't have plasma discover01:35
wxlacheronuk: that's where those images are form?01:36
wxlE: Failed to fetch copy:/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/security.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_zesty-security_main_dep11_icons-64x64.tar.gz  Hash Sum mismatch01:36
tsimonq2wxl: I have juliank in a PM01:38
acheronukdiscover is now installing /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/60plasma-discover01:38

tsimonq2wxl: büt gud fix be brek oter tings01:40
acheronuknew appstream now needs that debian merged discover -3 version with the icons patch01:40
acheronukthough maybe it could be temp dropped for the alpha01:40
tsimonq207:40:05 PM <juliank> I assume the kubuntu meta package enables the hidpi icons for appstream, I'd disable them for now, this should work around the issue  for unknown reasons01:41
tsimonq2wxl, acheronuk ^^^^^^^^^^^^01:41
wxlsounds good01:41
tsimonq207:41:25 PM <juliank> That's my WIP branch https://github.com/julian-klode/apt/tree/bugfix/838441-keep-uncompressedas-confusion01:41
tsimonq2acheronuk, clivejo: go inspect code ^^^^01:42
tsimonq2:P01:42
tsimonq2Oh and wxl too01:42
acheronukyep. discover not the kubuntu meta is the trigger, but real fix would be in apt01:43
tsimonq2acheronuk, clivejo, wxl: make fix go vroom vroom please kthxbai :)01:44
* acheronuk is going to sleep sleep, not vroom vroom anywhere01:44
tsimonq2acheronuk: You need red red bull bull to go vroom vroom?01:45
DarinMiller_Daily iso install was fairly smooth. Flash installer failed first time due to "too many levels of symbolic links".02:23
DarinMiller_Flash install icon appearred in tray awhile later and 2nd attempt was successful. ??? !!02:24
DarinMiller_I was also double prompted to install proprietary drivers. I installed after the 1st prompt, but received a 2nd sys tray prompting before rebooting.02:25
DarinMiller_Otherwise zz 17.04 daily install was a breeze.....02:25
* DarinMiller_ no pun intended....02:26
tsimonq2Weeeeeeeeeeee02:26
DarinMillerOne other note regarding zz daily install, kmserver logout crashed and forced reboot from terminal stalled requiring REISUB...02:41

sittervalorie, clivejo: FWIW, there are two things of note: a) packages are not covered by the CLA, so if one were to maintain the changeset as a patch it would not be subject to CLA requirements b) if you were to find someone to work on it and tell them the problems without showing them the code they'd not be deriving from my work and so it wouldn't matter anyaway (that being said my changes are fairly hackish in nature as there is no long term 10:04
sittermaintenance plan for ubiquity on my side)10:04

acheronukyofel_ clivejo: do you think packages like the old kdepim4 and baloo (KDE4) can now be removed from zesty? to have the new KF5 kdegraphics-mobipocket which KF5 okular depends on, would break that old kde4 stuff15:53
clivejoI dont know16:04
IrcsomeBot<wxl23> No kubuntu images still? I thought you got this fixed @tsimonq216:09
acheronukwxl: the 'fixed' apt seems to still be in proposed, with 1 or 2 tests left to finish running16:10
acheronukclivejo: they are inevitably going to get killed sometime. just dunno if now is ok, and if we have to wait for debian or not16:14
clivejolooks like we need to wait on Debian16:15
clivejootherwise someone will just sync them again!16:15
acheronukclivejo: not sure on that. I think maybe some blocks on that if manually removed, but not 100% sure16:18

acheronuka minute or 2 interruption on each service maybe, and everything back to normal by midnight16:35
acheronuknot too much trauma as long as it goes ok16:35
* acheronuk hopes16:35
acheronukclivejo: from a debiann and ubuntu dev on -release16:37
acheronuk[16:22] <acheronuk> can a source be removed from zesty if it's still in debian unstable? and if so, if there any protection from someone trying to be helpful and re-syncing it?16:37
acheronuk[16:22] <mapreri> AFAIK yes on both, but nothing can stop somebody from manually uploading it.16:37
acheronukand on the stuff that matters, when new KF5 stuff is there, anyone trying to upload the old would probably not have much luck16:38
acheronuktsdgeos: new apt seems to be migrating16:57

acheronukI'l running zesty on this machine, using the main http://archive.ubuntu.com/ mirrors, and I just got the new apt to install in the release pocket of zesty main :)17:20
acheronukso seems to be there on the main mirror17:21
IrcsomeBot<wxl23> Ah so I should respin?17:21
acheronukhttps://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt17:21
IrcsomeBot<wxl23> Looks like it17:22
acheronukwell, it's on the main mirror. if the iso's use another or a cache I suppose it may lag, but I'd hope they spin direct from the main17:22
IrcsomeBot<wxl23> Well let me give it a go17:23

acheronukalpha2 candidate builds to test :) http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/371/builds18:21
* BluesKaj wgets18:30
marco-parilloThanks BluesKaj I assume that was in response to: http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/371/builds18:36
wxlBluesKaj: my suggestion is to zsync but to each their own18:38
acheronukgood start. slideshow says "thank you for choosing kubuntu 16.10"18:46
wxlthat often happens with milestones18:46
wxlstill might need a bug report to remind us18:46
BluesKajwxl, tried zsync, it's no faster than wget here with the html 18:51
wxlBluesKaj: it's not about speed but integrity18:51
BluesKajyeah, but I usually don't have that problem18:52
wxluntil you do :)18:52
BluesKajhad more probs with zsync, drop outs etc causing integrity probs as you callit18:53
wxlit's got the same built in protection as torrents18:53
wxlwhich is not to say that network issues don't happen18:53
wxlthey CAN happen on anything18:54
BluesKajexactly18:54
wxlassuming such issues don't happen, there's no integrity checking in wget that i know of18:54
marco-parilloHmm I am getting a black screen, but I do have the panel at the bottom. The kicker can load Firefox. If I type install to the kicker, it starts the installation program.18:55
wxlin a vm marco-parillo ?18:56
BluesKajso if something goes wrong I'll just try again, but I'm sure from experience the DL will be fine18:56
marco-parillowxl: Yes, Virtual Box, Win 7 host/18:57
wxlmarco-parillo: mayhap try the usual grub settings like nomodeset or whatever. you also might want to check dmesg, syslog, and/or Xorg.0.log and see if there are any clues as to what's going on18:58

marco-parilloClicking on the slide show link to contribute did not seem to launch a web browser, but the installer seemed to complete successfully. I should be able to re-boot in a couple of hours when I get home. Also I can try on real HW then.19:17

mparilloOK, clean installs of both 64 and 32 bit to VMs.22:00
mparilloOn real HW, I burned a USB and booted fine on my HP EliteBook that had Kubuntu on it, but kernel panics on my t410 with Manjaro.22:00
mparilloI have had trouble dual booting Manjaro and Kubuntu (I am too much of a newbie to keep both on the same drive), but I was surprised to see it when booting from the USB thumb drive. I would have guessed it would not look at GRUB on my main drive.22:01
mparilloIn a VM, executing the 32-bit encrypted version, it almost completes, and then gives me Executing 'grub-install /dev/sda' failed.22:38
mparilloWill try 64-bit22:42
tsimonq2mparillo: s/64-bit/amd64/22:46
* tsimonq2 runs22:46
IrcsomeBot<ahoneybun> Good22:48
IrcsomeBot<ahoneybun> Same thing really22:49
tsimonq2No they aren't, actually.22:49
tsimonq2Both amd64 and i386 are 54-bit.22:49
tsimonq2s/54/64/22:49
IrcsomeBot<ahoneybun> Oh stop22:49
tsimonq2Go look it up...22:49
tsimonq2I won't spend my time arguing with you about facts22:49
mamarleyMany i386 implementations have certain 64-bit aspects (such as a 64-bit data bus), but i386 processors definitely do not have 64-bit general purpose registers, which are usually used to define the bitness of a processor.22:50
mparilloMinor inconsistency when setting the LVM Encryption Password. As soon as both match, the Continue Button lights. But, when you set your username and password, if you mis-match you are not told about it until you click on the continue.22:51
mparilloI know there is additional information you COULD add later, but paper-cut.22:51
mparilloI got the same Executing 'grub-install /dev/sda' failed in a VM, this time AMD64 Encrypted test case.23:00
