rachmadhjHi15:38
rachmadhjI want to ask about installing Xubuntu on my laptop. I have 320 GB hardisk. I have windows 7 in there. The partition was C:, D:, and E: | But for installing Xubuntu i make an allocated space 14 gb. But when i try to installing it, i try Gparted first to make an partition for Xubuntu, i see there is no partition on my hardisk. It just one big an allocated space and the size is 320 gb (my hardisk total size). Any solution? Thx15:39
rachmadhjI already try sudo fdisk -l /dev/sda and i see partition still in there15:40
digbychickenrachmadhj, you can see the 14gb partition in sda?15:52
digbychickenrachmadhj, or did it not work?15:52
rachmadhjYes. I can see it.15:55
rachmadhjI see it in terminal window when i enter command sudo fdisk -l /dev/sda15:55
rachmadhjBut when i scan with gparted, there is just unallocated disk. The big one, no partition.15:56
digbychickenrachmadhj, did you wipe out your windows partition too?15:58
digbychickenrachmadhj, are you trying to dual boot?15:58
rachmadhjYes. I try dual boot. In current hardisk, i still have windows 7. I did not wipe out it.15:59
digbychickenrachmadhj, ok...and the only disk you have in the machine is sda?16:01
digbychickenrachmadhj, the only reason i'm asking is that gparted will only show you one disk at a time (see the drop down menu in upper right corner)16:03
digbychickenrachmadhj, can you post a screenshot to imgur or something?16:03
rachmadhjOk. I'll try imgur.16:03
rachmadhjThe gparted http://imgur.com/a/OeKBp16:04
rachmadhjThe command i already try from googling the solution http://imgur.com/a/0hnDW16:05
digbychickenrachmadhj, ok...can you type "sudo fdisk -l"16:07
digbychickenrachmadhj, you'll need to then type your password16:08
digbychickenrachmadhj, then tell me what you see16:08
flocculantis win7 the one where they started that fast start thing where it's some sort of hibernate?16:08
flocculantI'm pretty sure that if that's the case - you'll see that in gparted16:08
digbychickenflocculant, dunno. I've never seen that.16:09
flocculantalternativel try thart chkdsk stuff for windows16:09
rachmadhjI see a long text in terminal window. Should i upload it on imgur? I think it will be 2 images.16:10
digbychickenrachmadhj, ok16:10
flocculantif it's text in a terminal use pastebin, eg sudo fdisk -l | pastebinit :)16:10
digbychickenyes...that would preferable, but do whatever gets you there.16:11

rachmadhjThis is from pastebin http://pastebin.com/mScNKuti16:14
digbychickenrachmadhj, i don't see the 14gb disk you set up for xubuntu...have you done that yet?16:16
rachmadhjI am so sorry. I mean 48,7 GB.16:18
rachmadhjNot 14 gb.16:18
rachmadhjThat partition i split from D: in Windows using Easus Partition Tool.16:19
flocculantthat partition is no good for linux - it's ntfs16:21
flocculantrachmadhj: reboot windows - run chkdsk there - then shutdown - reboot with the livecd for xubuntu and see what gparted shows then16:22
flocculantyou might be able to find out what gparted believes is the issue by right clicking - info in gparted now16:23
rachmadhjflocculant: Ok i'll try. Thanks. The information with right click? There is warning and text is "/dev/sda: unrecognised disk label"16:24
flocculantmm ok - get the disk checked properly by windows and start again16:25
flocculantas it stands you're going to get nowhere16:25
