I have 320 GB hardisk. I have windows 7 in there. The partition was C:, D:, and E: | But for installing Xubuntu i make an allocated space 14 gb. But when i try to installing it, i try Gparted first to make an partition for Xubuntu, i see there is no partition on my hardisk. It just one big an allocated space and the size is 320 gb (my hardisk total size). Any solution? Thx [15:40] I already try sudo fdisk -l /dev/sda and i see partition still in there [15:52] rachmadhj, you can see the 14gb partition in sda? [15:52] rachmadhj, or did it not work? [15:55] Yes. I can see it. [15:55] I see it in terminal window when i enter command sudo fdisk -l /dev/sda [15:56] But when i scan with gparted, there is just unallocated disk. The big one, no partition. [15:58] rachmadhj, did you wipe out your windows partition too? [15:58] rachmadhj, are you trying to dual boot? [15:59] Yes. I try dual boot. In current hardisk, i still have windows 7. I did not wipe out it. [16:01] rachmadhj, ok...and the only disk you have in the machine is sda? [16:03] rachmadhj, the only reason i'm asking is that gparted will only show you one disk at a time (see the drop down menu in upper right corner) [16:03] rachmadhj, can you post a screenshot to imgur or something? [16:03] Ok. I'll try imgur. [16:04] The gparted http://imgur.com/a/OeKBp [16:05] The command i already try from googling the solution http://imgur.com/a/0hnDW [16:07] rachmadhj, ok...can you type "sudo fdisk -l" [16:08] rachmadhj, you'll need to then type your password [16:08] rachmadhj, then tell me what you see [16:08] is win7 the one where they started that fast start thing where it's some sort of hibernate? [16:08] I'm pretty sure that if that's the case - you'll see that in gparted [16:09] flocculant, dunno. I've never seen that. [16:09] alternativel try thart chkdsk stuff for windows [16:10] I see a long text in terminal window. Should i upload it on imgur? I think it will be 2 images. [16:10] rachmadhj, ok [16:10] if it's text in a terminal use pastebin, eg sudo fdisk -l | pastebinit :) [16:11] yes...that would preferable, but do whatever gets you there. === yazdmich is now known as BytesAndCoffee [16:14] This is from pastebin http://pastebin.com/mScNKuti [16:16] rachmadhj, i don't see the 14gb disk you set up for xubuntu...have you done that yet? [16:18] I am so sorry. I mean 48,7 GB. [16:18] Not 14 gb. [16:19] That partition i split from D: in Windows using Easus Partition Tool. [16:21] that partition is no good for linux - it's ntfs [16:22] rachmadhj: reboot windows - run chkdsk there - then shutdown - reboot with the livecd for xubuntu and see what gparted shows then [16:23] you might be able to find out what gparted believes is the issue by right clicking - info in gparted now [16:24] flocculant: Ok i'll try. Thanks. The information with right click? There is warning and text is "/dev/sda: unrecognised disk label" [16:25] mm ok - get the disk checked properly by windows and start again [16:25] as it stands you're going to get nowhere [18:20] anyone here familiar with a guy that uses the nicknames: CrazyTux/TuxCrazy/FreePenguin/CrazyPenguin/linuxuser? [19:55] ...bored... waiting [19:56] anyone know any good jokes? [19:58] knome: just asking if someone knows the guy because he keeps changing nicknames and asks the same questions over again in another channel, questions that have been given a clear answer. So i want to know if he's pulling off the same thing here since he told he's using xubuntu and i thought he might show up in this channel too. [20:00] this is the first time im here [20:00] so its probably not me ;-) [20:02] xubuntu14i: nope not you, don't worry. This guy's IP comes from AU (australia). [20:03] its been too long since i did IRC, how do I reply to privately send messages? [20:05] if it's unwanted i never reply to private messages and will say so in the open on the channel [20:06] reboot time, im outta here. laters [20:07] later === digbychicken3 is now known as digbychicken
