[01:43] So I have the sources for a custom kernel based on linux-3.12.6...to build this custom kernel should I work from an older ubuntu or can I build it using the latest ubuntu? [03:36] infinity: talk about the sun [08:57] what if kernal module is updated/upgraded, the ubuntu box is required to be rebooted even livepatch is applied? [09:04] what if kernal module is updated/upgraded, the ubuntu box is required to be rebooted even livepatch is applied? [14:16] rtg, hi! there i regression of bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1557690 in the 4.8 kernels (yakkey + hwe-edge), I've opened bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-hwe-edge/+bug/1661620 [14:16] Ubuntu bug 1557690 in linux (Ubuntu Xenial) "s390/kconfig: CONFIG_NUMA without CONFIG_NUMA_EMU does not make any sense on s390x" [Wishlist,Fix released] [14:16] Ubuntu bug 1661620 in linux (Ubuntu Yakkety) "CONFIG_NUMA is missing from the 4.8 kernels on s390x" [High,Triaged] [14:16] could that be fixed please? =) [14:17] i guess it's too late for 16.04.2 respin right =) i guess infinity would kill me. [14:18] xnox, huh, looks like it didn't get set for Yakkety [14:19] xnox, I'll make sure its set fr Zesty as well [14:19] rtg, it is set in zesty and xenial =) only yakkety affect (and apperantely somebody tried to use that) [14:19] *affected [14:20] if you set it harder / policy checking enforced that would be nice =) [14:23] xnox, looks like there is some weirdness with Kconfigs in Yakketty regarding NUMA. I'll get it sorted. [14:23] rtg, thank you. [14:50] xnox, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/yakkety/+source/linux/+bug/1557690/comments/6 [14:50] Ubuntu bug 1557690 in linux (Ubuntu Yakkety) "s390/kconfig: CONFIG_NUMA without CONFIG_NUMA_EMU does not make any sense on s390x" [Undecided,In progress] [14:56] cool =) [14:58] xnox, it is too late for the official last respin, whether there will be one is another question [17:03] tseliot, there is a 4.10 based kernel in ppa:canonical-kernel-team/ppa that is showing build failures against the usual nVidia DKMS packages [17:03] rtg: this is a good time to tell me about those failures, as I am working on an update :) [17:03] I'll look into them [17:04] tseliot, serendipity [17:04] now, if only infinity approved nvidia-375 in zesty NEW... :P [17:05] tseliot: I don't know how far you are along, but in ppa:mamarley/staging I have nvidia-340 and nvidia-378 packages with patches for 4.10. Those patches disable the CPU hotplugging support in the driver though because it was broken and I don't know enough about it to fix it. [17:06] mamarley: cool, I'll have a look at the patches then, thanks [17:06] No problem === ayan is now known as Guest87740
