[14:24] hello everybotty [14:27] i'm here because I'm failing at The Google today...hoping you folks might have some answers. [14:27] about kernel versions in Ubuntu Studio [14:27] particularly, the low-latency and generic versions not being the same. [14:28] Is there somewhere that explains most recent and or most stable for US 16.10? [14:28] my system, after apt full-upgrade has up to 4.8.x for low-latency but only up to 4.4.x for generic. [14:53] guess i shouldn't have logged in with the system I've gotta reboot. toodles all [16:56] the packa ge manager in studio requires a ubuntu one account.....that really bites ...whats another package manager? [16:56] packagemanager [16:57] requiring a one account ..reminds me of windows or mac ..my way or the highway.. [16:58] just to sell those apps...previously known as programs..lol [17:00] so this chat room is a dud ...a lot like that package manager in studio 16-10 [17:01] on to terminal to install a real package manager...C U. [21:30] guys, I'm here to ask a little question, is there anyone ? [21:31] studio-user568: Just ask. [21:32] I'm installing ubuntu studio on my main computer, and it takes forever to do the first task of the installation [21:32] the creation of the file system onto my hard drive [21:33] Does it work as intended ? (It prints that it cannot connect to daisy.ubuntu.com [21:34] My hard drive is a 2 TB one, so I espected it to be long, but not 2 hours (and still at the same point) [21:35] Also, I install it from an usb stick, if it changes something. [21:37] You sure that the hard drive is fine? [21:38] I used to boot windows 8 on it. [21:38] And it worked perfectly [21:41] Manual partitioning with GParted before the installation would be an option, to potentially see where and how it fails. [21:42] I'll try that, but I have to stop the installation, then ? [21:42] Also, I'm not sure it fails, IT may just take forever [21:43] It shouldn't take *that* long. And you'd just boot to the Live desktop, and run GParted from there - then click on the install icon on the desktop. [21:44] ok [21:44] I disconnect from here, then, since I have to reboot. If everything works fine, I won't come back ^^ thank you anyway, and have a good day
