olatX200hello guys. I'm having installation problems with xubuntu, can someone help me?17:26
olatX200anyone?17:27
flocculantolatX200: first - yes someone can probably help you - but you need to give more information17:28
flocculantand second - have some patience ;)17:28
olatX200Ok, thanks. I'm kinda going at it for hours. I'm a linux newb so I'll explain everything in detail, ok? O:)17:29
flocculantwon't necessarily be me - but more information will help whoever does17:31
olatX200I have an old Dell laptop so I wanted to install XUbuntu on it. I downloaded the 12.04 LTS version because it fits my laptop's requirements. I made a bootable USB disc with Unetbootin since my laptop has no CD drive. I used PLOP to get the installation going. Everything started nice, I set all the parameters and the installation was going nicely. But then, I got the following error in a window called "Software selection": please i17:31
olatX200Xubuntu 12.04.4 LTS _precise pangolin_ - Release i386 (20140205.0)' in the drive '/media/cdrom/' and press enter. Media change.17:32
flocculantolatX200: I'll stop you there17:33
flocculant12.04 has been out of support for nearly 2 years for xubuntu17:33
olatX200I think that this has nothing to do with the version, but with Linux in general. I found some tutorials that describe the same problem on 16.04, but they all say something about "sudo something something" and when I type "sudo xxxx" in the console it says sudo not found (ALT+f2)17:35

flocculantalt+f2 isn't what you want probably - you want a terminal super+t17:39
flocculantand if it STILL says sudo not found - something wrong with download17:40
olatX200Super+T does nothing :( Just stays the same. :$17:41
flocculantctrl+alt+t17:41
flocculantanyway - all that aside 12.04 is EOL for us17:41
flocculantand 14.04 only has a few months left too17:42
olatX200Still nothing... Well, thanks for trying. Maybe someone comes across who had similar problems. Thanks again.17:42
