drpresidenti need some help with nexus 4 mako00:37
drpresidentive been trying to get ubuntu touch on it for a couple days now, and cant get past the ubuntu recovery.00:37
drpresidentafter running ubuntu-device-flash, it installs, restarts to recovery, but quits when it doesnt see my device in recovery mode, then my device boots back to android.00:37
drpresidentI think the main problem is my computer not recognizing the phone when its in recovery mode, but I cant figure out how to fix it00:38
drpresidenti would love any suggestions, im running out of ideas00:41
dobeydrpresident: flash android 4.4 stock, boot to android, reboot to bootloader, and then do ubuntu-device-flash with --bootstrap; my guess is you have newer android installed, and there's a conflict between what ubuntu needs and what you have00:43
drpresidentok ill give that a try, but I believe ive tried with both 4.4 and 4.200:44
drpresidentis 4.4 the optimal version for installing ubuntu?00:45
dobey4.4 is what the ubuntu image is based on00:45
drpresidentalright thanks00:45
drpresidentdoes it make sense that having the wrong android version would allow it to boot ubuntu recovery, but not be shown wih lsusb?00:48
dobeynot sure why that would be00:48
drpresidentyeah cant get it to show on debian, ubuntu, or windows 700:49
drpresidentso after i flash ubuntu, it quits after "waiting for device to enter recovery"00:49
dobeymaybe try different usb port or cable too01:01
dobeyanyway, i need to go01:10
dobeygood luck01:10
drpresidentalright thanks for the help!01:14

studio_hi all19:10
studio_hmm, is ubuntu-touch dead meat? so, why?19:11
studio_i am confused about that ...19:12
studio_didn't the developers hear about the users problems?19:13
studio_come on bots, what was the problem?19:14
studio_;)19:14
studio_sil2100, onother bot left the room ...19:15
studio_how many bots are still there?19:16
studio_dobey, orga_,popey are your still here ?19:18
dobeyno19:19
studio_lol :)19:19
studio_comon, is the "project" dead?19:19
dobeyno19:19
studio_new devices - new ubuntu touch?19:20
dobeythat's not a sentence19:20
studio_so what is the sentence?19:20
dobeyi can't read your mind. i don't know what you're trying to ask. please formulate a question as a grammatically valid sentence19:21
studio_I try to ask, are all old ubuntu-touch devices eol = dead?19:22
dobeycanonical/ubuntu does not make devices though. manufacturers decide when new devices will happen, not us19:22
dobeywas there some announcement that said those devices are now EOL?19:22
studio_canonical need a new kernel, for exp. for the bq e4.5 - here is a new kernel: https://github.com/Pablito2020/alps_kernel_bq_krillin19:24
studio_so where is the problem for a new ubuntu-touch version for the bq e4.5?19:25
dobeyit is impossible to have any amount of reasonable discussion with you19:27
geniiBQ is the one who makes releases for the Aquarius line, not Canonical19:27
dobeythe e4.5 is quite old, the fact it hasn't been EOLed already, and has been getting updates, is a better record than most all android devices19:28
dobeybut no, it's not likely that the e4.5 will get a major update to a 16.04 snappy based image.19:32
studio_genii, so why nobody is helping this private person? he released a new linageos https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6w8rvoi1nudc1VJOFA2d3BOZGs19:33
dobeyit's a very old device at this point19:33
studio_with a new kernel19:33
dobeyask him; this channel isn't about "linageos"19:33
dobeyor lineageos19:34
studio_ehm, but canonical allways tells, it needs a new kernel for the bq e4.5/e5.0 ...19:34
dobeyno19:35
dobeyi'm pretty sure the claim is that a newer kernel and arm64 are going to be necessary for officially supported snappy core based images for phones/tablets19:36
studio_no? so new os, core/snappy is still running on the bg e4.5/e5.0?19:37
dobeyplease stop running in circles19:37
studio_circle? there is no wiki about that on ubuntu ...19:38
dobeyyes. you asked a question and had it answered. and then you try to ask the same question in a different way. and you keep doing it. it's part of the reason you got banned numerous times before.19:39
studio_dobey, where id i ever asked about running bq e4.5/e5.0 with snappy/core, are you kidding???19:40
dobey*sigh*19:41
studio_yeah :(19:41
studio_hope your investor is willing to pay you without any ssuccess ... you'll never find a better job ...19:45
studio_:(19:45
k1l_studio_: what about you stop insulting the users and developers. that doesnt help but only gets you banned again. we had this too often with you already19:47
dobeyuse english please19:51
studio_new kernel for BQ E4.5  https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6w8rvoi1nudc1VJOFA2d3BOZGs19:51
studio_:)19:51
k1l_studio_: you are not helping when you insult others or putting them under pressure.19:51
dobeyno it is not19:51
dobeykernels for bq devices come from bq, not from zip files on random google drive shares19:52
studio_dobey, no , why not?19:52
dobeyif you want to download random kernels and run them on your device, that's up to you. that is not how retail support chains work, however19:52
studio_dobey, what kernel is the bq E4.5/E5.0 using for ubuntu touch?19:53
popey~3.419:53
studio_so thats old!19:53
dobeythe ubuntu images for krillin/vegeta are 3.4 from the android 4.4 tree for those devices19:53
dobeyyes, they are old phones19:53
studio_did you checked the git?19:54
dobeyso your goal isn't to help, but to come in here and harass developers19:54
studio_dobey, how to port the "krillin" for a new kernel?19:55
dobeyand again, you are ignoring what was said earlier19:55
dobeyhttps://github.com/bq is where bq publishes their git repositories19:56
dobeynot "Pablito2020"19:56
dobeye4.5/e5 are also not arm6419:56
studio_so the flash-tool understood the new kernel?19:57
dobeyubuntu-device-flash doesn't understand any kernels19:57
dobeyit doesn't care about kernels19:57
studio_so it is not "uesefull"19:58
dobey*sigh*19:58
studio_yeah :(19:58
studio_so why ubuntu-device-flash isn't updated to the last kernel for the bq e4.5/e5.0?20:01
dobeybecause you aren't running your own system-image server with custom built images to your liking20:02
studio_what?20:02
studio_what is the latest image with the the latest kernel? plz what channel?20:04
popeyrc-proposed, and will be 3.420:04
studio_3.4 is old, again!20:04
dobeyas it has been for the past 2.5 years20:04
popeyyou asked the same question20:05
popeyyou got the same answer20:05
dobeyso is the bq e4.520:05
dobeyit is old.20:05
popeyif you want different answers, ask different questions20:05
dobeyand not a different question that leads to the same answer20:05
studio_popey, did you ever made an update to your E4.5/E5.0 on Android?20:05
popeyI never ran android on any bq device20:06
studio_try it!20:06
popeyNo thank you.20:06
dobeythis is not #android20:06
studio_so where is the problem with the bq e4.5/e5.0 and snappy?20:07
dobeythat was already answered20:07
studio_where?20:07
dobeynumerous places, but in here, about 30 minutes ago20:08
studio_dobey, could you please so kindly to repeat your answer: why isn't the bq e4.5/e5.0 working with smappy?20:10
studio_snappy20:10
dobeyno. you can read the scrollback20:10
studio_thanks that you have no answer for that20:11
studio_so ubuntu-touch is dead meat?20:12
k1l_studio_: stop that20:12
dobeyno20:12
studio_k1l_, böser onkel, ich frag doch nur ...20:13
k1l_studio_: with your aggressive method you will not make anyone ship a more recent kernel for the aquaris devices.20:13
dobeyandroid isn't dead because the galaxy nexus no longer gets updates20:13
k1l_studio_: no, you are annoying and insulting20:13
dobeystudio_: the official language of this channel is english. if you want to rant in german, please go to a german channel.20:14
studio_k1l_, ich bin nich aggresiv, wie du schreibst, nur interessiert ...20:14
k1l_studio_: no, you are not "just interested". you are anooing and aggressiv. you are that way since years now. and that way is not helping. you should have seen that alreday.20:15
dobeyi'm not sure what's worse. trying to talk to republicans, or studio_.20:15
studio_dobey, is there a german channel for ubuntu-touch - i don't think so, because the germans don't like to be pranked ...20:18
dobeyk1l_: can we just ban him again perhaps? this is getting old.20:19
dobeythanks20:20
k1l_np20:20
k1l_i still cant believe that he thinks this is helpfull in any way.20:21
davmor2k1l_: I think that sentence is 6 words too long20:22
dobeyit seems to me that the problem is rather that he does not20:23
dobey(think)20:25
dakerdobey: any idea about the push notification helper ? the notification is delivered to the server, but the helper is failing https://paste.ubuntu.com/23990849/21:01
dobeydaker: the halper has to print JSON to stdout. that error suggests stoud is empty21:01
dobeys/stoud/stdout/21:02
dakerdobey: yeah i am using the helper from the doc21:02
dakeri'll try to do a print inside the helper to see something get printed21:03
dobeydaker: ok, well i'm not sure beyond that, but it looks to me like the error there is enough to point you in the right direction21:03
dobeydaker: you can just cat an example json of a push message from the server, into your helper, on console, and see what happens, too21:04
dobeyiirc, the "API" there is read in from stdin, and print to stdout21:05
dakerdobey: not sure how to do that, even adding some print function doesn't output anything21:20
dobeydaker: cat example.json | my-push-helper21:20
dobeyi would think anyway21:20
dobeydaker: are you trying to build an app that supports push notifications that you intend to ship as a snap, btw?21:21
dakerwell i am intending to add push notifications for the phone bu the app works on desktop too, so i'll ship it as snap too21:22
dakerdobey: znc -> push server -> phone21:23
dobeydaker: ok, push notifications do not work at all for snaps yet. i'm not sure what all changes exactly will be necessary to get it working there, but there will definitely be changes, likely incompatible with clicks21:24
dakerdobey: i see, well since the app is stopped once in the background, the irc connection is dropped21:25
dakerthe irc app supports znc, so you can znc running once get a message you'll get a push notification which will let you launch the app21:26
dobeydaker: sure, i understand why you want it21:31
dobeydaker: i was just pointing out what the situation is :)21:31
OerHeksFairphone 2 looks much better .. http://imgur.com/r/Ubuntu/XM6ip9n21:36
dakerdobey: yes :)21:42
dobeydaker: anyway, that's about the limit of my understanding with push helpers, right now :)21:46
dakerdobey: thanks, one more question, do you know any json database in qml ? The localstorage(SQLite) is really slow21:50
dobeydaker: there are qml bindings for u1db21:53
dakeri am looking at maz-db but since an not qt expert i am waiting for DanChapman to add a .pro for qmake21:53
dobeywhich is also sqlite, but might be a little faster21:53
dakeryeah i'll try to give test it21:55
