I recently switched back to linux after some years with windows, I have always sworn to firefox but chrome seems to be more compatible now? [17:05] you can use chromium also [17:06] Yes that is true [17:07] I just really prefer firefox, guess it's because of years use [17:10] i use chromium because there's many more ways i can drag and drop things [17:10] and other handy stuff [17:10] for example, i can highlight a link and then wheel-click the new tab button to open it in a new tab [17:11] That function is in firefox as wel [17:11] well* [17:11] Guess I have no other options than to get used to chrome .P [17:11] Works way better with streaming services, video players and youtube [17:12] hmm [17:12] firefox didn't support wheel-clicking the new tab button when i tried it last time [17:12] Well, with a hyperlink it does [17:12] But if its plain text then nope [17:13] yeah [17:13] firefox should work with youtube just fine though 0_o [17:14] you do need chrome for anything that uses flash [17:14] or firefox in wine [17:14] Yeah it also used to work, but now it's just the player and then a black screen [17:15] probably another issue, but chrome supports two streaming services which firefox don't [17:15] netflix for an example [17:28] i guess firefox in wine would run netflix just fine... [17:28] but yeah it is a workaround [17:29] Yeah probably [17:29] But then i think chrome is a better option [17:30] Furthermore I have some problems with the built in speaker in the laptop is really low [17:30] Tried with some apps than could boost the sound but the sound just got really bad when turned up [17:30] Something you are familiar with? [17:33] Hey, is anyone having graphical gliches on the top panel around on 16.10 [17:34] around where the battery is [17:49] MartinKG, i haven't had sound issues with firefox or chromium [17:49] Akuli, I mean in general [17:49] all over the system [17:50] laptops' speakers are awful in general :) [17:52] Haha that is true [17:52] But in Windows it was way better [18:00] then that's weird [18:00] i don't know much about sound in linux, so i don't know how to help :( [18:03] Akuli, No worries, thanks anyways :) [19:15] Hello. I have a problem on Ubuntu 16.04 and MATE: the missing Alt+Tab functionality drives me crazy. I can only change to the very last window using Alt+Tab. I can see all the other icons but pressing Tab repeatedly while holding down Alt doesn't activate them. [19:15] Any idea how to fix this? [19:59] vlt, are you using compiz, marco, or compton? and, composite or not? [19:59] It works fine for me out of the box [20:03] Select marco from mate-tweak and see if it works there [20:31] vlt, do "alt+tab", to open the funtionality, then keep "alt" and set free "tab", while you press "arrow buttons" to your preferred window app, and when done, set free all buttons. [20:33] arrow buttons = left, right, (up and down, you don't this ones) buttons. [20:34] (don't need)* [20:39] anyone here [20:39] oh shit [20:42] Good evening === rachel is now known as Guest96303 [20:45] Anyone chat here ? [20:45] yes [20:45] we are here [20:46] I am new to Linux [20:50] ravenblack, yes, me and 90 other people :) [20:58] welcome to linux [20:58] what do you want to learn [20:58] i will admit i am not an expert [20:58] i have limited experience [21:31] anyone out thre === madsa is now known as Guest13012 === madsa_ is now known as Guest87296 [22:02] alkisg, wildlander: I seem to be using marco. [22:03] In composite mode. Changing that doesn't help with the Alt+Tab problem. [22:03] wildlander: As soon as I press an arrow button the Alt+Tab functionality window disappears. [22:11] Alt+Tab works fine for me, arrow keys do make it disappear. Can't say I have ever used arrows on Alt+Tab switching. [23:08] Neither have I. [23:09] What could be the cause of Alt+Tab not working? === jorge_ is now known as Guest93001 [23:36] anyone can help me with bluetooth fail? [23:45] vlt, what is marco?
