[02:42] g night all [06:51] Morning everyone [07:15] morning all and paddatrapper [07:22] hi paddatrapper chesedo inetpro thatgraemeguy and other lurkers [07:22] good mornings [07:23] Kilos: we've had more than 125mm now in just two days [07:24] mornings [07:25] i will ask the farmer how much here but it will be lots as well [07:25] he still uses an old fashioned gauge that you pour the water out the receiving thing then into a measure [07:26] from ww2 times i think [07:27] sounds cool [07:43] yes but more work than modern things [07:51] hi unlaudable [07:55] Can't you guys send it south? Not even allowed to water the gardens at the moment [07:56] eish [09:01] https://www.facebook.com/obsidianza/videos/ [09:01] the docker thing going on right now... [09:02] inetpro ^^ [09:02] only a couple of 2 2 minute videos [09:04] silent disco :D conference [09:55] it is clearly not as cold there as here in Ptr [09:55] it seems like 3 speakers are up simultaniously? [12:28] * andrewlsd sees kmf on that video link [13:04] * pavlushka waves at Cryterion [13:05] * pavlushka particles at the rest [13:11] * Kilos joins the pro with power probs [14:06] if I click the xchat icon in my notification bar the window disappears and I cant get it back XD... [14:07] chesedo, yes, its like a silent disco type setup [14:08] you can tune into any speaker you want, and I think it also works for q and a afterwards... I'll try it myself on Thursday [14:14] interesting... [14:29] unlaudable: click on the xchat icon on the notification bar again and you are supposed to get it back [14:29] pavlushka, it disappears [14:29] gone gone gone [14:29] unlaudable: with the icon? [14:29] not in the alt-tab [14:30] I tried dragging the icon to the bar on the left even [14:30] unlaudable: yes, it doesn't show in the alt+tab [14:30] doesnt work [14:30] unlaudable: it's a feature but if you click on the icon in the notification bar, it supposed to come back [14:31] *on the [14:32] pavlushka, I'm avoiding clicking it in the notification bar now... that's what seems to make it disappear :D I'm also using an embarrassingly old ubuntu [14:32] I'll update soonish... [14:33] unlaudable: yeah I liked the gnome2 version of Ubuntu, So now I use Ubuntu-MATE [14:34] I got annoyed with unity at home, intermittently lose the text boxes to login, no idea whats causing it [14:35] eventually just switched to gnome there as well... [14:37] unlaudable: yeah, in my case I faced that login issue too and switched from lightdm to gdm and also tried lxdm [14:38] and both alternatives solved the issue but lightdm [16:27] So what's on dinner Kilos ? [16:43] gunno [16:48] sounds spicy [17:44] Happy 21st birthday paddatrapper! [17:47] superfly: thanks! [17:49] o_O [17:49] happy birthday indeed :) [17:51] tumbleweed: thanks a lot :) [17:59] good evening guys [18:06] Hey nsnzero [18:07] hi paddatrapper [18:10] wow, congratz paddatrapper [18:13] chesedo: thanks :) [18:15] hi chesedo [18:15] i missed the news paddatrapper - but congrats as well [18:16] nsnzero: thanks :) (it's my 21st today) [18:18] hi nsnzero [18:19] anybody running an ssd and hdd together ? [18:22] happy birthday paddatrapper - hope you had a awesome day [18:24] nsnzero: thanks, that I did [18:33] paddatrapper: i wont forget your birthday - its also my sister's birthday today [18:35] Oh cool! It's a good birthday :D [19:33] oh my 21 today [19:33] well done paddatrapper [19:33] Kilos: dankie oom :) [19:33] i feel good [19:33] im only 3 times your age [19:33] hehe [19:34] hehe, still long time to go then! [19:34] ja [19:34] hi superfly tumbleweed [19:34] o/ Kilos [19:34] and inetpro dit sous nog steeds hier [19:35] and bed time for me. night all. sleep tight [20:01] happy birthday paddatrapper [20:02] Thanks inetpro [20:03] time to call it a night as well [20:03] superfly: hold the fort [20:04] I'd rather leave it in more capable hands [20:40] paddatrapper: happy birthday! [20:41] Thanks not_found! [21:12] paddatrapper: I've falled in love with Docker again [21:12] I thought you found a girlfriend, superfly [21:13] superfly: I still see it more as a developer's tool. And that's based on pretty much nothing... [21:14] I guess I should try it before dismissing it, just I know lxc already and have everything set up using it [21:18] smile: I already have a wife. girlfriend is not necessary ;-) [21:18] paddatrapper: Docker and lxc are essentially the same thing. Docker is just more mature and has better tools. [21:18] I think Docker's killer feature is image inheritance. [21:20] superfly: I'll have to check it out tomorrow then. As far as I know lxc has been around longer than docker. It's lxd that's immature [21:20] paddatrapper: is lxc/lxd backed by a company? [21:21] superfly: nice [21:22] superfly: IBM and Google apparently [21:25] Seems the main difference between LXC and Docker is that LXC supports multiple processes, while docker only supports one [21:26] Docker doesn't only support one, it's just the way most people MAKE their containers [21:26] paddatrapper: https://phusion.github.io/baseimage-docker/ [21:27] paddatrapper: the point I think is that you shouldn't put all your services into a single image [21:28] paddatrapper: remember, they both use cgroups [21:30] superfly: I generally have a container per application service - so if an application requires LAMP, I'll have nginx, MySQL and PHP all running in the container. That way a snapshot of the container is portable and can be run with little configuration from anywhere [21:31] But I'll do some more reading tomorrow and try set something up to test. Night everyone [21:35] *blink* [21:38] paddatrapper: ouch, that's not really the idea behind containers [21:56] containers are created to hold items like wtaer [21:56] *water even [21:56] or your lunch === smile is now known as smile|away
