[05:29] Bug #1667574 opened: default gateway not set when deploying a machine with two interfaces in same network === frankban|afk is now known as frankban === mup_ is now known as mup [11:01] Bug #1667633 opened: Digital Loggers Inc. PDU configurations are dependent between machines [14:20] Can someone point me in the general direction for creating of custom images? Do I build my machine out, make all the changes I need and then somehow tar it up? Or? [14:22] I found instructions on building out maas-image-builder (which were broke). I finally got it installed on my maas machine. [14:23] neteng, what kind of custom images? [14:24] just a centos 6.8 64 bit machine... [14:24] we have lots of custom file changes [14:24] neteng, CentOS 7.0 won't do (or 6.6)? [14:24] nope must use 6.8 [14:24] neteng, you need a commercial agreement for anything else [14:25] Ubuntu and CentOS 7.0/6.6 are the only ones supported by default [14:25] commercial as in I need to buy support for maas? [14:25] neteng, yeah [14:26] there is no other method to making an image? [14:26] neteng, not that is supported [14:27] it's oss so obviously if you can convince it to work... [14:27] ok… not really looking for it to be supported. Just looking to be able to create my centos 6.8 image that we roll to all of our machines [14:28] neteng, there's info on pricing on https://maas.io/ [14:28] neteng, i understand [14:28] it says free for cent and custom images [14:29] neteng, yes - stock 6.6 and 7.0 [14:29] that could be clarified i guess [14:29] so there is truly no other way to make an image without paying for support? [14:32] no [14:33] lol… this has gotta be a joke [14:40] https://docs.ubuntu.com/maas/2.1/en/installconfig-images [14:40] The CentOS bit should be clarified... [14:41] ..in order to build a custom image for any operating system is the relevant part [14:41] Thanks for the help brendand… time to find a truly open sourced product [14:43] I fail to see how this means that MAAS isn't open source. brendand is just declining to spend *his* time on your problem, that's all. [14:43] it's oss so obviously if you can convince it to work... [14:44] most openen sourced products have docs that detail how to do what the product is supposed to do [14:44] I only asked for someone to point me in that direction I did not ask for him to do it for me [14:45] I fail to see how this means that MAAS isn't open source. [14:45] The open sourced products I generally use don't require some sort of paid support to get them working either [14:46] And MAAS does what it is advertised to do without requiring any paid support either. The only error here is that the documentation doesn't make it clear what versions it is designed to work with, which has been acknowleged. [14:46] anyways…. [16:44] Running maas on 16.04, trying to commision nodes. commissioning fails with "Can not apply stage config, no datasource found!" [16:44] any ideas where to start looking for the cause? [16:46] here's a screenshot of the boot: https://snag.gy/yhbscG.jpg [16:50] looks like an iscsi problem. network? [16:51] well the network is exceptionally simple... not sure what can go wrong here. [16:52] thinking it might be this? https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1582323 [16:56] they did commission last week when I was messing around, so that part fits [17:11] is it possible to log in to the node when it fails commissioning? going to be hard to get logs if not... [17:17] DesktopMan, you can access the remote syslog from /var/log/maas/rsyslog [17:18] aha. that is very useful :) [17:20] the folders there are timestamped two days ago [17:21] I deleted it and it also fails to enlist. [17:22] does maas use the cloud image for enlisting/commissioning as well? wondering if the bug above is fixed in those images [17:33] I did rename the machines inside maas. don't think that should matter [17:41] Bug #1667754 opened: Deleting machines from Nodes listing page tries decomposing multiple times. === frankban is now known as frankban|afk [17:49] I am a bit confused by how the network gateway/routes are set up via the UI. I use MAAS 2.1. Should there be only one gateway in one subnet? Is there a way to have different setup on different nodes? [17:50] Bug #1667754 changed: Deleting machines from Nodes listing page tries decomposing multiple times. [17:53] mimizone: if I understand it correctly you'll have to put the nodes on different lans (physical or vlan) for that since the gateway is configured per subnet [17:54] for the network interface used for pxe booting that is. after the machine is up you can configure the other interfaces on the node configuration screen [17:56] Bug #1667754 opened: Deleting machines from Nodes listing page tries decomposing multiple times. === mup_ is now known as mup [18:08] https://docs.ubuntu.com/maas/2.1/en/troubleshoot-faq [18:08] tried to inject a user like it says here, but the image is not called root-image in my /var/lib/maas. changed name+ [18:08] ? [18:11] Bug #1667267 changed: [RSD] Deleting a machine directly still leaves it composed in the pod === mup_ is now known as mup [18:27] well I give up. no idea how I can find out what goes wrong. [18:36] same error when trying to enter rescue mode [19:08] what should I give dpkg-reconfigure maas-region-controller ? [19:08] it accepts both network addresses and ip addresses.... [19:19] i've always used an ip address. by network address i presume you mean a hostname [19:19] I mean like 10.1.5.0/24 [19:20] doesn't look like it cares what it gets, I think that was my issue [19:21] ohh [23:48] maas 2.1 doesn't add gateways, nor static routes. I use static IPs on my interfaces. How can I set the gateway info and my custom routes?? [23:49] I entered the info in the subnets.
