I'm trying to use the linux-aws package provided by the Ubuntu kernel team to get a newer version of the ixgbevf driver. However after I install the package I'm still seeing the old 2.12.1-k driver version. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? or am I misunderstanding the release notes talking about a newer version of this driver? [17:40] rellis: ah, sorry, that's expected right now as we were seeing issues with the newer version of the driver. We're working on getting that sorted asap to provide a newer driver again. [17:41] ogasawarasa: Thank you for the response. I was able to install the LTS enablement kernel to get version 3.2.2-k [17:41] which I hope won't be fubar :) [17:41] although i would like to be able to use linux-aws [17:42] rellis: cool, that should work for you. Any feedback you have on the 3.2.2 version of that driver from the LTS enablement kernel would be great. [17:42] ogasawara: Would you just like feedback in this channel? or is there a ticket or anything? [17:42] rellis: I'll try to remember to ping you when we have linux-aws with an updated ixgbevf [17:42] thanks [17:42] rellis: informal feedback in this channel is fine [17:43] cool [17:45] rellis, I think I'm about to make you very happy ... :-) https://launchpad.net/~kamalmostafa/+archive/ubuntu/test-linux-aws/+packages [17:46] oh you rock sir [17:46] i was just updating the chef recipe to go install the hwe kernel too :) [17:46] rellis, that includes an update to ixgbevf to 3.2.2-k, which I'm testing in preparation for merging into linux-aws. your feedback on that exact build would be most appreciated [17:47] i will definitely do that [19:11] kamal: So strange, after I add your ppa apt search linux-aws shows the new 1006 rev of all the dependant packages but not the linux-aws meta package itself [19:12] rellis, oh, I should have warned you (sorry!) ... there is no 1006 meta package (yet), so you have to install the linux-image-xxxxx.deb specifically [19:12] ahhh i see [19:12] thanks! [19:13] rellis, try "sudo apt-get install linux-image-4.4.0-1006-aws" [19:13] well im doing this from chef, but i will attempt give or take the same thing [19:14] rellis, y'know what? I'll just construct and upload a 1006 meta pkg to that PPA. [19:14] that's very nice of you :) [19:19] rellis, ok, that's building now, in my test-linux-aws PPA -- should be available within the hour, maybe much sooner [19:19] cool, thanks much! [19:20] rellis, sure, and thanks in advance for your feedback [19:23] well that build was nice and fast [19:24] rellis, yup, I guess "much sooner" was right [19:26] indeed [19:26] rellis, and it looks like it works properly ... let me know if you have any more trouble with it. [19:27] i will, im installing it now === inaddy is now known as tinoco
