However after I install the package I'm still seeing the old 2.12.1-k driver version. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? or am I misunderstanding the release notes talking about a newer version of this driver?

[19:12] <kamal> rellis, oh, I should have warned you (sorry!) ... there is no 1006 meta package (yet), so you have to install the linux-image-xxxxx.deb specifically
