musician_proHi wxl I see something about Jack12:59
musician_proI want to thank you for your suggestions12:59
wxlmusician_pro: i use jack a lot on lubuntu, so feel free to ask if you have questions. i'll point you in ubuntu studio's direction if you want to know about ardour tho :)16:45
wxlmusician_pro: and by asking about jack on lubuntu, i mean ask me directly. i'm always on, but not always around, so make sure to highlight and i'll get back to you asap.16:47
Lavinhogood afternoon16:58
Lavinhohow to create menu firefox esr lubuntu16:59
Lavinho?16:59
wxlLavinho: i'm not sure i understand your question.16:59
LavinhoHow to create menu in bar for firefox17:00
Lavinhofirefox -esr17:00
wxlwhich bar?17:00
Lavinhomenu button17:00
wxlfirefox SHOULD automatically add one17:01
Lavinhofirefox .tar.gz17:02
wxlyou want to add a menu item to the tarball? that seems kind of pointless17:02
Lavinhoyes17:02
Lavinhoadd menu item17:03
wxlwell here's how to do it in general https://wiki.lxde.org/en/Main_Menu17:03
wxlthis is lubuntu's documentation which is a little less verbose https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/Windows#How_to_make.2Fadd_an_application_to_the_.22start.22_menu.17:04
Lavinhothank you17:08
musician_prowxl, I understand. Actually I'm using Reaper, but I see right now Ardour it's a nice DAW to. I hope 1 day in the future I can use music software to collaborate and implement software and OS like ubuntu to get better usage for user. Actually almost all producer and developer doesn't care about this :(17:14
wxlmusician_pro: it's true, except when you consider the cost and the ability to introduce new features. i'd rather pay a developer to introduce something i'm interested in than give a commercial developer a flat fee for them to do what they want (often not what *I* want)17:16
KiickiHi, how can I change the audio output? My PC has speakers and the audio is coming from it but I want the audio output to be from the TV which is connected to my PC via HDMI18:12
wxlKiicki: just pick a different sound card in alsamixer. or you can get pavucontrol if you want it to be really easy.18:13
KiickiI don't see any alternative for a different sound card in there. I have also tried to increase all the volumes and nothing18:14
wxlKiicki: you tried hitting F6?18:14
wxlKiicki: if that fails, you may want to try to look through all the channels and see if one is for HDMI output. mute the others.18:15
KiickiNothing happens18:15
wxlthere is ALWAYS something that happeens with F6.18:15
Kiickihmm, weird18:16
wxleven if there's no other sound card, it will at least show you the one sound card.18:16
KiickiI do get sound from the PC though18:16
wxlunfortunately there's no consistency the to the way the information is displayed18:17
wxlgee, thanks manucturers18:17
wxli might be able to help if i have the info from `aplay -l` and `amixer`18:18
KiickiThis is extremely weird. I have increased everything I can18:19
wxlyou can pastebin it up somewhere18:19
wxlit also may be true (not sure) that you must select the HDMI *VIDEO* out in order for the audio to work18:19
Kiickihttp://paste.ubuntu.com/24196655/18:20
wxlso look at aplay output first18:20
wxlsee how there's two cards?18:20
wxland it's card 1, the HDMI, that you need to use18:21
KiickiYeah, but I see no option to change sound card18:21
Kiickithat should be in the software itself?18:21
wxlF6 in alsamixer18:21
wxlthey should be enumerated in the same way18:21
wxlso you want card 118:21
KiickiThis is just weird because nothing happens when I press F6 in Alsa mixer18:22
Kiickimaybe they changed hotkey18:23
wxlit shows the hotkey while you're in alsamixer on the right18:24
wxl"s" may work too18:25
wxlyou should be able to see a list of soundcards in /proc/asound/cards18:25
KiickiIt's just weird. I can understand that I need to change sound card and I can see that the PC sound card is what is on but there's no option to change it. I have increased/decreased everything, hit F6 and "S" and nothing18:32
wxlwhat does /proc/asound/cards show?18:33
KiickiI'm not sure what you mean by that. I'm really new to Linux18:34
wxl@Kiicki: in a terminal, do `cat /proc/asound/cards`19:02
Kiickihttp://paste.ubuntu.com/24196906/19:05
wxlsee? two cards19:05
KiickiI get that. I'm not denying that I have two cards. I'm saying that I'm not able to change it19:06
Kiickithat I haven't*19:06
wxlyou could do this but it's sort of hokey https://askubuntu.com/questions/167394/sound-card-selection#16974119:07
KiickiThis is just so weird. I find it really odd that you cannot change it that simple19:08
wxlyou could also try installing pavucontrol19:08
