fossfreedomcheers - nice to get some feedback.  much appreciated.16:41
sebsebsebyour a main dev ?16:42
fossfreedomproject lead16:42
sebsebsebfossfreedom: I had some issues with it in 16.10 on my phsyicall install here, but16:42
sebsebsebfossfreedom: ok well then you'l be glad to know that I intend to now show it in virtualbox16:42
sebsebsebat a Linux Presentaiont Day event :d16:42
sebsebsebthat's for something16:42
sebsebsebhttp://linux-presentation-day.org16:42
fossfreedom17.04 is shaping up to be a nice release.  well worth a look16:43
sebsebsebyes it's beta 2 I am vm trying now16:43
sebsebsebof budgie16:43
fossfreedomcool16:43
sebsebsebI think the welcome scdrene all of that16:43
sebsebsebhow it's done is awesome16:43
sebsebsebdetailed great16:43
sebsebsebeasy to use16:43
sebsebsebaimed at newbies16:43
sebsebseband not many distros aactsauly have those, not even Ubuntu, which is a bit hmm, since its meant to be so user friendly, but other distros such as Mint and Mageia yes welcome screens16:44
fossfreedomalready looking at 17.10 - just adding translation capabilities to the app so that it shows in your native language and locale16:44
sebsebsebare you main guy from solus budige as wel ?16:44
fossfreedomthat would be ikey16:45
sebsebsebI mean it started off as a interfface for some other distro solus I belive?  I'll vm try solus next16:45
sebsebsebah yes of course ikey16:45
sebsebsebyes I have read budige things here and there16:45
sebsebsebok but main guy to bring it over and be in  charge of it as an ubuntu flavour, nice16:45
sebsebsebfossfreedom: and I guess it's GTK 3 based really,  GNOME 3 t ools yeah16:46
fossfreedomcorrect16:46
sebsebsebnever been that keen on anything else that used GTK, untill this :d16:46
sebsebsebXFCE nah, LXDE, nah, etc etc16:46
sebsebsebit  was alwasy GNOME16:47
sebsebsebor GNOME,  GNOME 3, and Mate  later to :d16:47
sebsebsebfossfreedom: anyway  doing an event where will be showing differnet interfaces in Desktop Linux, and some mobile stuff to, some creative commons and rasspry pi as well,  aimed at general public,  would be ashame not to show budgie :d16:48
fossfreedommuch appreciated.  more visibility is always welcome16:49
sebsebsebwell it's easy to use16:49
sebsebsebnice log in screen etc16:49
sebsebsebuser friendly.  ubuntu based as well16:49
sebsebsebyep could imagine a newbie, bang new to linux, using that16:49
sebsebseband quite happily16:49
sebsebsebplus it's an offical flavour so can actusally use #ubuntu  unlike Mint :d   well will be offical falvour with 17.0416:50
fossfreedomwith official status we have equal billing on great help sites such as Ask Ubuntu and Ubuntu Forums.  Very useful for new users.16:51
sebsebsebwhat you mean equal billing ?16:51
fossfreedomfor unofficial ubuntu based distros, Ask Ubuntu will close questions.  From 17.04 Ubuntu Budgie based questions will be allowed.16:52
sebsebsebyeah indeed :)16:54
sebsebseband can use the 1500 to 1700 or so people who ok mostly idle, but yeah in #ubuntu16:54
sebsebsebfor help16:54
sebsebsebfossfreedom: I had a nice pm chata with somoene the other day,  who was in tehre with mint really16:54
sebsebsebnot emailed her yet16:54
sebsebsebmint irc network is a bit small, but can be ok, from what i seen before16:55
sebsebsebbetter a channel with more more people if new really I guess such as #ubuntu16:55
sebsebsebmuch more peop;le16:55
sebsebsebfossfreedom: did you do most of the ubuntu budgie welcome screen text, or is it same in solous ?16:55
sebsebsebnow if only  actsaul ubuntu had one of those to :d16:56
fossfreedomSolus doesnt have a welcome screen.  This is our own application.16:56
sebsebseboh16:56
sebsebsebinteresting :)16:56
sebsebsebwell it's a winner :)16:56
sebsebsebfossfreedom: I remember asking popey in perosn a few years ago,  why is that,  other distros such as Mageia has a welcome screen,  but ubuntu doens't16:57
sebsebseband ubuntu is meant to be so much more user firnedly apparantly16:57
sebsebsebfossfreedom: I'll be able to test the welcome screen out, on general public next month :d16:57
sebsebsebat an event as I was saying16:57
fossfreedomthanks16:57
sebsebsebfossfreedom: did you do some of the text for that welcome screen?16:59
fossfreedommost of the welcome app is done by a team member call Niyasc17:00
sebsebseboh17:00
sebsebsebfrom Canonical or ?17:00
fossfreedomno - a Ubuntu Budgie team member17:01
sebsebsebfossfreedom: anyway going to    run Ubuntu 17.04 with unity 7 as the host os17:04
sebsebsebthen show other things in virtualbox17:04
sebsebsebplus got other people there with computers doing diffenret interfaces etc17:04
sebsebsebplus I got mobile stuff to do etc  :)17:04
sebsebsebfossfreedom: will be a reasoanablly small event, but should be good like last time :)17:04
fossfreedomgood luck.  Sounds interesting.17:05
sebsebsebI think the budige welsocme screen pretty much nicely explains it all though to a newbie17:05
sebsebsebthe kind of things should know17:05
sebsebsebfossfreedom: so why the main lead to bring over to ubuntu ?17:06
sebsebseb:)17:06
sebsebseboh yeah one other hting, uhmm gwibber17:07
sebsebseba potential Irc killer?   peoplere were saying about that about two months ago on IRC.  why is budige on that with a bigger presence as well ?17:07
fossfreedombasically - I think its a great interface.  I wanted to know how difficult it was to bring to ubuntu. So thats how it started.  Lots of people liked the idea - "budgie-remix" was then born.17:08
sebsebsebwhy do you think its a great interface?17:08
fossfreedomgwibber - not sure that is maintained any more.  most people who use IRC use something like hexchat or similar17:09
sebsebsebnot gwibber17:09
sebsebsebgitter even17:09
sebsebsebthe chat thing for support17:09
sebsebsebI meant gitter17:09
fossfreedombasically it has a classic menu driven interface - but uses modern technologies.  It doesnt fork everything under the sun - makes the best use of existing technologies17:10
sebsebsebbut the chat is on something else that isn't irc or mostly hmm17:10
fossfreedomgitter is own chosen development platform - gitter chat is very easy to use.  IRC tends to attract more technically able people only.17:11
sebsebsebor for now.  it's like a develoepr community.  sign in with a github or twitter account it said17:11
sebsebsebwho not that techi on gitter ?17:11
fossfreedomalot of people on the community channel are normal standard users.17:12
sebsebsebfossfreedom: oh see a little typo on the welcome screen now17:13
sebsebsebfossfreedom:  doing solus now vm trying, but yes looks like ubuntu budige is still better :d19:23
sebsebsebbetter implementation of it etc19:23
sebsebsebabout to install in vm though got a live up19:23
