antishello21:00
antishaving a question/ problem with old nvidia geforce 6200 driver and opengl. anyone here who can help?21:02
lynorianantis explain what the problem is21:02
lynorianI really doubt nvidia proprietary supports that anymore21:02
antisyeah, i read further about that and it neither works with nouveau or proprietary. however what i stumbled upon is, that it works fine on live-cd, but not on the installed system (16.04 lts btw.)21:04
lynorianantis I am having trouble explaining that21:05
antisthe problem is hard to describe. basically it started with firefox not starting (immediate crash on startup). then thunderbid, chromium/chrome and probably more. so i installed the glxinfo/-gears test apps and they crashed as well.21:06
antisafter reboot the latter worked and i was hopeful - but no luck again.21:07
antisthe setup is a fresh install and no certain changes were made to this point. can i send a config or log to perform further checks? unfortunately time is currently against me and very limited. hopefully on weekend i get an hour or two21:10
wxlantis: the problem is not lubuntu specific i imagine. you may want to check with #ubuntu to see if anyone has that particular hardware.21:15
wxlantis: another clue: check out which kernel modules are being used in live.21:15
antiswxl: you mean another channel?21:15
wxlantis: yeah. tends to have more people21:16
lynorianwxl not sure people would have unity running with that hardware21:16
antiswxl: thanks. could you give me the command please? my lousy head forgot about it :P21:17
wxllynorian: i admit that's likely, but worth a shot.21:17
wxlantis: /join #ubuntu21:17
lynorianand the command to check modules is lsmod21:17
wxlor lspci -nnk and look for vga21:17
antisah ok, thanks21:18
antiswill check that rather tomorrow afternoon. not the time right now. but thanks for the hints. might lead to success…21:19
antisg'night for now, bye21:25
