Guest73568hi...I'm trying to connect to my phone via bluetooth, but I get the message "Connection to the device failed" when I press the connect button11:39
BluesKajGuest73568, connect to ?11:40
Guest73568BluesKaj: I want to connect my desktop to the phone...was trying to use my desktop as a headset :P11:41
BluesKajGuest73568, try kdeconnect via wifi , dunno if bluetooth will work, yo'll need kdeconnect on your pc and phone11:44
hateballkdeconnect doesnt have audio redirection tho11:46
lordievaderGuest73568: Does the pairing fail?11:46
Guest73568lordievader: it does, dispite it creates the device on the list11:46
Guest73568BluesKaj: does kdeconnect allow to use the desktop as a headset?11:47
BluesKajGuest73568, I don't know for sure11:48
lordievaderGuest73568: No, as hateball already said.11:49
lordievaderGuest73568: On what does the pairing fail?11:49
Guest73568lordievader: I request pairing from the desktop...search the phone, select it, set manual pin to 0000. Then I just get a window saying "The setup of myphone has failed" with the options to restart the wizard and close11:52
lordievaderWhy set the pin maunally?11:53
Guest73568bacause the default method has huge pins :P11:53
lordievaderThought at the time my phone showed a code I needed to enter at the laptop, or the other way around.11:53
Guest73568the same result using that method11:54
lordievaderGuest73568: Hmm, anything in the system log which is more specific than 'it failed'?11:55
Guest73568nothing on /var/log/syslog...where does it log to, any idea?11:57
hateballnot sure it logs at all11:58
hateballyou could try launching that kcm from a terminal tho, see if it spits anything to stdout11:58
Guest73568here's what I get https://pastebin.com/00FWxZ5Q12:02
hateballGuest73568: google gives http://askubuntu.com/questions/440386/bluetoothd-bluez-5-wont-connect-with-any-devices dunno if that's your issue12:05
hateballhmmm, probably not. 16.04 reports PA 8.012:07
Guest73568ok I managed to connect...it was missing pulseaudio-module-bluetooth package12:14
Guest73568it's paired and connected...now how do I get the call sound on my desktop?12:17

acheronukwe think so, which is why we make it :)16:46
jimjohnsondoes it have internet on it?16:46
jimjohnsoninternet explorer I mean16:47
acheronukbut everyone has their own preferences and way of doing things, so you can test it via a live session from a USB drive/cd and see16:47
acheronukjimjohnson: the default browser is Mozilla Firefox. a popular alternative16:48
acheronukbut other web browsers can be installed.16:49
jimjohnsonwhat about outlook?16:58
jimjohnsoni get my email there16:58
BluesKajjimjohnson, you'll still have access to Outlook17:29
BluesKajyou just won't have Internet explorer, buit firefox is default on kubuntu, and chrome and other linux supported browsers are available17:33

geniijimjohnson: Do your incoming emails get pulled off your ISP's mail server by your local Outlook, or are you running an email server?17:39
geniiSo the former17:39
user|75787hello everyone :)17:42
user|75787i have a problem with booting ubuntu on my laptop and I would like to ask for help17:42
user|75787could someone help, please? :)17:42
BluesKajuser|75787, ubuntu or kubuntu?17:43
jimjohnsonyes i get comcast email17:43
user|75787sorry, i meant kubuntu17:43
BluesKajuser|75787, is this a dual boot with windows 8 or higher?17:50
marco-parillojimjohnson: If you have comcast e-mail, you should have two, maybe three options. (1) You can use an e-mail client. kmail ships with Kubuntu. The second most popular around here is probably Thunderbird. You would have to configure your e-mail client software. (2) You can use your browser (by default firefox) to access your comcast webmail directly18:38
marco-parillo(https://www.xfinity.com/support/internet/sign-in-to-email-or-voicemail-on-xfinity/).18:38
marco-parilloThird possibility (and this may not work) is to use your browser to use Outlook Web Access (https://outlook.office.com/owa/) to access your Comcast e-mail. If it works, it will be pretty familiar to you.18:40

viewer|15687Hi, all. I have a problem that I'm hoping one of you can help with. My laptop has a RealTek 8723 wireless chip. Starting with 16.10, I kept getting 'IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready' errors.23:45
viewer|15687I tried moving to the 17.04 Beta, and the driver started throwing this error 'hci0: Direct firmware load for rtl_bt/rtl8723b_config.bin failed with error -2'23:46
viewer|15687I compiled the RTL from Larry Finger's Git repo (as suggested in forum posts), and I now get this error: 'rtlwifi: loading out-of-tree module taints kernel.'23:46
viewer|15687Any idea on where to go from here, besides reinstall 16.04?23:47
