ShadowZhello11:19
ShadowZi need help regarding ethernet11:19
KiickiI just installed Lubuntu and I'm using Minecraft as a testing game but for some reason I can't open the game with Java. I installed Java Oracle 8 which haven't had any issues with Ubuntu but I can't seem to find the software when I try to open the game13:01
KiickiI got Java 6,7 and 8 now and I still don't have the option to open a JAR file with java13:47
leszekKiicki: just add java -jar manually in open with13:51
Kiickiproblem is that it's not there13:52
Kiickiit is there in ubuntu but not in lubuntu for some reason13:52
KiickiLike I got "Oracle Java 8 Web start" "Oracle Java 8 mission control" "Oracle Java 8 console" "Oracle java 8 visualVM" "Oracle java 8 plugin control panel" "oracle java 8 policy tool"13:54
Kiickibut not the actual Java that I need to open the game13:54
Kiickinon of those worked13:54
leszekKiicki: not sure I don't install proprietary stuff usually13:59
KiickiI don't get it though. Lubuntu is based on ubuntu but I never had this problem in ubuntu. It's like I cannot open Jar files in Lubuntu14:00
xenialhi?14:19
leszekKiicki: I have something like that in my /usr/share/applications/openjdk-6-java.desktop to open jar files with: https://pastebin.com/ERPTL31U14:37
leszekKiicki: usually this should come with the java package. Though maybe oracle does not ship it and only openjdk does14:37
leszekthough it would not explain why it appears on ubuntu but not lubuntu14:38
leszekmaybe lubuntu did not refresh the application list (desktop files)14:38
leszekso relogin might fix it. Not sure14:38
JeNeSaisQuoihello everybody14:49
JeNeSaisQuoiI new with Lubuntu and I would like to install it on an USB key? How to after .iso download ? Merci beaucoup :D14:50
=== satan is now known as Guest94804
Scungiellihow do I make it so that I don't have to enter a password to get back to my desktop after the screen saver comes on?  new install of lubuntu here17:32
ScungielliI'm not worried about security, its just a PC connected to my TV17:33
Chunkyznow the RC of ubuntu/lubuntu has been released, have we finally moved over to LXQt?19:22
wxlChunkyz: no.19:22
Chunkyzwxl, ?19:24
wxlChunkyz: we have not moved over to LXQt, no.19:25
Chunkyzis that official?19:25
wxlabsolutely. for that matter, look at the manifest of the RC and you can see there are no LXQt packages in there.19:25
ChunkyzI would if I knew where to download it...19:26
wxlsame place it always is: cdimage.ubuntu.com19:26
ChunkyzI thought we were moving over to LXQt though? what happened?19:26
wxlthings take time19:27
Chunkyz"things" it's been forever lol...19:27
ChunkyzI don't see the RC in that link btw19:27
wxl"forever" also hasn't been forever, either.19:28
Chunkyzyou're pissing a lot of people off, including myself who's been waiting for it.19:28
Unit193It hasn't been long at all, they've had a couple releases at most and it seems like the wise move is to wait until it's at least somewhat stable before moving to it.19:29
wxlunder daily or daily-live, depending on which version you want: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/19:29
Unit193Chunkyz: So then go install it?19:29
Chunkyzwxl, the rc isn't listed there.19:29
wxl*I* am not pissing people off. The process is. I19:29
wxl"rc" is a misused term19:30
wxlyou'll find nothing there that is called rc19:30
Chunkyznot according to ubuntu's site...19:30
wxlwhat it means is a daily image that is locked in time19:30
wxli'm sorry that ubuntu's site doesn't make the whole milestone process clear19:30
Chunkyzlol19:30
Chunkyzare you a dev for lubuntu wxl ?19:31
wxlwhere do you see this on ubuntu's site?19:31
wxli am a contributor to the lubuntu project. anyone can be *hint hint ahem*19:32
ChunkyzI see.19:32
wxli don't see anywhere on the ubuntu site showing a discussion of rc images at all19:32
Chunkyzso your word is not officially true so I'll stick around :)19:32
wxli'm listed under the team here if that's what you mean by not official http://lubuntu.me/about/19:33
Unit193Dude, you can see it's not there now, there's no chance they'll test with LXDE all cycle then on the last day switch to LXQt with zero testing.  The release team wouldn't even allow that...19:34
Chunkyzyour name is?19:34
wxltry searching for wxl19:34
ChunkyzUnit193, yeah it's just I hate waiting and really wanted LXQt :( sorry if I sound rude wxl.19:35
wxlyou can install it19:35
Chunkyzthat's /not/ the same lol19:35
wxlunfortunately the ubuntu packages aren't exactly fixed yet19:35
wxlamong other reasons because of problems with debian19:35
wxlwhich happened because of other problems19:35
wxli know it seems like we can just push a button and all is done, but it doesn't work like that19:36
xanguaChunkyz: there's an lxqt meta19:36
ChunkyzI guess I'll have to wait then.19:36
wxlwe've all been trying very hard to at least get SOMETHING out, but because of stuff beyond our control, we have been unable to19:36
xanguaIt's pretty simple19:36
wxlxangua: it's messed up, too, but ok.19:36
xanguaThere are some distros that offer a default lxqt desktop if you wanna try19:37
ChunkyzI'd rather wait for an official release, the longer we wait the better it might be, true?19:37
wxlum, not necessarily19:37
wxlbut patience is a virtue, so if you get that one figured it, *YOU* will be better XD19:38
Chunkyzxangua, yeah but not as good as ubuntu/lubuntu - if you're on about arch etc, no thanks.19:38
wxlthe main force behind lxqt has a distro based around it19:38
Chunkyzgot a link wxl ?19:39
xanguaManjaro and gecko Linux for example19:39
Chunkyzboth suck compred to ubuntu/lubuntu imo :)19:39
wxlhttps://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=siduction19:40
wxlit's based on debian unstable, so similar to ubuntu19:40
wxl(not in terms of community, though, which is what *I* think makes *buntu superior)19:40
Chunkyzwxl, cheers and yeah I agree.19:41
wxlthere's also been some further discussion about lxqt and lubuntu. it's unclear as to whether or not we'll completely dump lxde and switch to lxqt or maybe offer both as an option. dunno yet. too soon to tell. there's lots of app decisions we'll have to make on lxqt.19:42
Chunkyzthanks for the info about siduction, never even heard of it. grabbing the .iso now (:19:49
tsimonq2I wish some people would read my blog...21:29
