WalWhat time will 17.04 be released?02:19
daxwhen the release team's done with their checklists02:20
daxit's usually on the other side of US bedtime, so at least 12 hours from now, but no guarantees either way02:21
WalOK thanks02:25
WalBut rats02:25
valorieWal: you can install the daily at this point and just upgrade tomorrow02:26
valoriethere will be little to no changes overnight02:26
valorieunless there is some surprise showstopper02:27
daxyep. if you need stability, wait two weeks. if you don't need stability, now is fine02:27
valoriealso you can add your input to the qa site!02:27
WalI'm running Beta 2 now and really like it, stable etc. Will just wait a little and hopefully apt-get dist-upgrade will bring me the release02:27
valoriea few changes since beta2, but not many02:28
daxWal: yep, if you're on Beta 2 right now, apt-get dist-upgrade will bring you up to release once it's out02:28
WalExcellent. Thanks for the advice.02:28
valoriethese days, `sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade` is the recommended command though02:30
WalRoger.02:30

EvilRoeyHello all!  Hey I made a data CD with k3b--it was a mix of .mp3s from a previous CD I had made, and new .mp3s I added yesterday.  Weird thing is--the old tracks play in my car, but the new ones don't!  I tried making another CD at the office of all that music (since my workstation could read it sucessfully), and it appears that my car's head unit still has an issue playing the new mp3s.  That CD played fine on my workstation, though..14:58

ronnockubulo: I would try installing and running this program (https://utappia.org/2016/03/28/ucaresystem-core-v3-0-released-and-available-in-ppa/) which essentially is a script to sort your system out. The script can be found here, if you're interested (https://github.com/cerebrux/uCareSystem/blob/master/ucaresystemcore.sh) and can be run that way as well. There's a discussion about the app on Kubuntu Forums I can link to if you're18:18

kubulogenii, clivejo, thanks for your help. I fixed the problem by doing "sudo apt autoremove --purge". It seems that the hd limit was reached for the partition where the kernels are located18:20

coderphilTrying to upgrade from 16.10 to 17.04 - everything is telling me that no updates are available... Software Center and do-release-upgrade, etc19:04
coderphilis there something else I should try to upgrade to 17.04?19:06
Walcoderphil: try 'sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade'19:07
coderphilTried it: 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded19:07
WalI'm downloading the iso now for a clean install. Probably for the best anyway19:08
coderphilProbably true but I'm afraid because I had a lot of trouble getting 16.10 working properly with my nVidia 1080 card19:09

BluesKajcoderphil:  update and upgrade your existing packages first , then sudo do-release-upgrade19:22
coderphilBluesKaj:  tried that...   I ended up doing do-release-upgrade -d  which seems to be working19:23
coderphilfrom there maybe it'll see release version?19:23
BluesKajnot -d , that the development OS19:23
BluesKajunless your mirrors are out of date19:24
daxthere is no development OS right now19:24
coderphilCan I to release version after upgrade to development?   Everything else was telling me that no update was available (do-release-update, apt-*, etc..)19:24
dax-d goes to zesty19:24
BluesKajdax:  it may be for his repos if they haven't been brought up to date19:25
daxthat's not how do-release-upgrade works19:25
BluesKajdax zesty is released19:25
daxI'm aware.19:26
daxit's not yet in http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/meta-release , so do-release-upgrade without -d will not find it19:26
daxit is however in http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/meta-release-development , so do-release-upgrade with -d will find it19:26
daxbecause do-release-upgrade checks those specific files (when upgrading from non-LTS or from LTS with PROMPT=normal set) on that specific server, not mirrors19:27
coderphildax:  ok thanks, so I'm assuming I'm OK with the do-release-upgrade -d at this point?19:30
daxcoderphil: correct19:31
coderphilcool, upgrading...19:31
BluesKajnot all mirrors are upto date as I mentioned before ...seems there's some delay with some countries19:31
daxThis is utterly unrelated to the mirroring system.19:31
daxdo-release-upgrade does not use the mirroring system when checking which versions of Ubuntu are available.19:32
BluesKaj yes, but most users expect not to need -d to for their repos to work19:32
daxOkay?19:32
daxUbuntu deliberately does not offer release updates to users in the first few days of a release.19:33
daxThis is how it's been for ages.19:33
daxPeople who want to update anyway should use -d.19:33
BluesKajtha's BS\19:33
daxDo you disagree with how things are or are you claiming that I'm incorrect?19:34
BluesKaji repeat,  that's BS19:34
daxYes, your cussing is ambiguous.19:34
BluesKajit's not debateable19:34
daxIs your assertion that 1) Ubuntu's release notification system should be different, or 2) that my understanding of how Ubuntu's release notification works is incorrect19:35
BluesKajblah blah blah ....19:35
Waldax: I love how accurately you're parsing BluesKaj's replies.19:42
BluesKajWal:  it's not worth the trouble ...19:43
WalBluesKaj: what isn't?19:43
BluesKajnevermind19:45
WalI have 13 minutes left on my 17.04 torrent. Very excitiing!19:47
BluesKajWal:  there isn't a huge difference between 16,10 and 17.0419:48
clivejoId beg to differ19:51
clivejosome people will find huge differences regarding multiple screen handling19:52
daxMy usual experience with new KDE SC versions is that nobody in the Release Notes document is interesting, but there's always a few really awesome fixes/changes that I notice after using it for a bit and love19:53
daxs/nobody/nothing/19:53
clivejoand the stability of plasma in general19:54
BluesKajclivejo:  I wouldn't notice multiple monitors diferences, since my pc is an HTPC connected to TV/Monitor19:55
