TechWombatHey is anyone about to help solve a problem01:41
TechWombatI some how delted all the items in my application menu now when I try to lunch the menu editor it fails to lunch01:46
ouroumovhi TechWombat01:58
ouroumovTechWombat, if you create a new user and login as him, is the menu filled?01:58
TechWombatI have no items in the application menu01:58
TechWombatNo it isn't01:58
ouroumovSo you tested that before I suggested it?01:59
TechWombatError loading menu layout from "/home/benjamin/.config/menus/mate-applications.menu": Line 298 character 1: Element <Old> is required to contain text and was empty01:59
TechWombatThat is the error I get when I try to start mozo01:59
ouroumov<ouroumov> So you tested that before I suggested it?02:01
TechWombatYeah I did just before and the menu had the same error02:02
ouroumovExcept of course it wasn't /home/benjamin in the error message, right?02:03
TechWombatYeah maybe its a error carrying over maybe I might try a reboot02:03
ouroumovIn the mean time02:04
ouroumovWhat version of Ubuntu MATE are you using?02:04
TechWombat1.16.002:04
ouroumovThat's a MATE version number, not an Ubuntu MATE version number.02:05
TechWombat16.1002:05
ouroumovOkay02:05
ouroumovHave you tried to: dpkg --reconfigure mozo02:06
TechWombatNo, I think I am going to go from a back up of the config, I was just hopping there was a command that set everything to default02:07
ouroumovI can give you my config if you like.02:08
ouroumovhm02:09
TechWombatThanks for your help ouroumov, I got it all fixed up and yeah I restored the .config from yesterdays backup and fixed03:06

sdrockhello,   lenovo microsd reader not working after suspend until reboot16:50
sdrockMy 64GB SD card (partitioned as ext4 22gb and FAT32 44gb) does not have any problem mounting if my laptop (running Ubuntu 16.04) never goes into suspend (after I close its lid). But once I reopen the lid, retype my password to login and resume working as before, the SD card vanishes, as if nothing was ever mounted... Pulling it out then re-inserting it doesn't resolve the problem. I have to power off my laptop completely before the card16:54
sdrockis recognized and mounted again.16:54

mate|22435thanks ouroumov that's good to know17:26
j09Hi folks. Sorry to be a bother but I've been trying to get Ubuntu 17.04 up and running. I've dded it to a USB and booted off of it. However, before it reaches any menus, it stops and displays the following output: http://i.imgur.com/1QR9UNa.jpg Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might work this out?17:31
j09Ubuntu-MATE that is.17:31
ouroumovj09, that looks bad17:32
ouroumovj09, did you use the command "sync" after the "dd"?17:32
j09I've tried different USBs and differnt methods. I first used dd and then I used the SUSE ImageWriter studio program.17:33
j09Could it have anything to do with the fact I'm running a Nvidia Geforce 970?17:34
j09I'll asume from the radio silence that no-one here is able to help. I've posted to the forums as well.17:55

jojo_hello. the new IPP printing is awesome.20:42
jojo_was wondering if it can also be invoked through cups (localhost:631) or must we use the GUI for it to work properly?20:43
=== sspencer is now known as sspencer-napping
=== sspencer-napping is now known as sspencer
jojo_when adding a printer via the gui - gives me a choice of three connection methods. DNSSD, driverless-IPP, and LPD. both driverlessIPP and DNSSD report using the same driver "IPPEVE.PPD"20:51
jojo_both ways succeed in printing test-page. however, when trying to add the same printer via cups - it fails.20:51
ericcericksonThe upgrade has not been pushed to my system yet. Any advice?21:19
nicklas_why dont i get notified on new ubuntu version? ive tried forcing it with the manual chekcer, doesnt even start22:17
nicklas_how can i force the upgrade? dont wanna wait22:24
jojo_try do-release-upgrade -d22:32
jojo_the -d did the trick22:32
nicklas_jojo_, but why havent we got notified?22:32
jojo_because your thing is configured to look for only 'release versions'22:32
nicklas_jojo_, huh?22:33
jojo_and for some reason, zesty is still classified as dev in the url that do-release-upgrade checks22:33
jojo_so it wont notify you22:33
nicklas_ah, will it become marked as stable soon?22:34
nicklas_maybe its better to wait22:34
jojo_here http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/meta-release-lts22:35
jojo_thats the url that do-release-upgrade checks22:35
jojo_sorry - that's only for lts22:35
jojo_this is the one for all release http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/meta-release22:35
jojo_zesty isn't on the list yet.22:35
nicklas_which means its not stable yet?22:36
jojo_ubuntu zesty has been released. it is the release version. perhaps they are not marking it as such to prevent the flood of traffic from millions of computers that autocheck for updates22:37
jojo_or maybe someone simply forgot22:37
jojo_if you allow the -d flag. then it checks this url http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/meta-release-development22:38
nicklas_jojo_, so, what do i do to force the upgrade now again?22:53
jojo_sudo do-release-upgrade -d22:56
nicklas_but i dont need to do the update-manager-core?22:57
TheOneMenzieUbuntu 17.04 is released and stable.22:58
TheOneMenzieFirst, I'd make sure you've run [ sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade ] before you perform the release upgrade22:58
nicklas_but isnt that done via gui?23:00
TheOneMenzieWell, running the Software Updater is simply a front end for that, yes23:01
nicklas_yeah, thats what i meant :-)23:01
nicklas_but i dont need to do sudo apt-get install update-manager-core && sudo do-release-upgrade -d?23:02
nicklas_is it enough with just sudo do-release-upgrade -d?23:02
nicklas_or is it sudo apt-get dist-upgrade && sudo apt-get install update-manager-core && sudo do-release-upgrade -d?23:03
nicklas_sry, not apt-get right? should be only apt right?23:04
TheOneMenzieYeah, if you don't have it, install it23:10
nicklas_uh? i have update manager23:11
nicklas_update-manager-core is installed23:13
nicklas_then its enough with sudo do-release-upgrade -d?23:13
TheOneMenzieWell, I was just suggesting you have the latest version of everything before you do the release upgrade, nicklas_23:20
nicklas_TheOneMenzie, and i do if ive updated via the gui right?23:21
TheOneMenzienicklas_: Hopeful23:24
TheOneMenzie+ly23:24
TheOneMenziejojo_: It's in the meta-release23:33
TheOneMenzieUnit193 just updated it23:33
jojo_TheOneMenzie: somoene just forgot to update it?23:42
jojo_you should also update meta-release-development ; it says supported =0  should be =123:43
jojo_but that probly doesn't matter23:43
TheOneMenzieNo23:53
TheOneMenzieIt shouldn't23:53
TheOneMenzieThere is no developing branch23:53
TheOneMenziejojo_: ^23:55
