[00:18] hi [01:19] flexiondotorg, I confirm Network Sharing works with dnsmasq-base [01:41] Hey is anyone about to help solve a problem [01:46] I some how delted all the items in my application menu now when I try to lunch the menu editor it fails to lunch [01:58] hi TechWombat [01:58] TechWombat, if you create a new user and login as him, is the menu filled? [01:58] I have no items in the application menu [01:58] No it isn't [01:59] So you tested that before I suggested it? [01:59] Error loading menu layout from "/home/benjamin/.config/menus/mate-applications.menu": Line 298 character 1: Element is required to contain text and was empty [01:59] That is the error I get when I try to start mozo [02:01] So you tested that before I suggested it? [02:02] Yeah I did just before and the menu had the same error [02:03] Except of course it wasn't /home/benjamin in the error message, right? [02:03] Yeah maybe its a error carrying over maybe I might try a reboot [02:04] In the mean time [02:04] What version of Ubuntu MATE are you using? [02:04] 1.16.0 [02:05] That's a MATE version number, not an Ubuntu MATE version number. [02:05] 16.10 [02:05] Okay [02:06] Have you tried to: dpkg --reconfigure mozo [02:07] No, I think I am going to go from a back up of the config, I was just hopping there was a command that set everything to default [02:08] I can give you my config if you like. [02:09] hm [03:06] Thanks for your help ouroumov, I got it all fixed up and yeah I restored the .config from yesterdays backup and fixed === Edward-Elric is now known as PostreAFK [08:30] Hi, when does ubuntu 17.4 coming out? Sorry to be a bother but I've been trying to get Ubuntu 17.04 up and running. I've dded it to a USB and booted off of it. However, before it reaches any menus, it stops and displays the following output: http://i.imgur.com/1QR9UNa.jpg Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might work this out? [17:31] Ubuntu-MATE that is. [17:32] j09, that looks bad [17:32] j09, did you use the command "sync" after the "dd"? [17:33] I've tried different USBs and differnt methods. I first used dd and then I used the SUSE ImageWriter studio program. [17:34] Could it have anything to do with the fact I'm running a Nvidia Geforce 970? [21:19] The upgrade has not been pushed to my system yet. Any advice? [22:17] why dont i get notified on new ubuntu version? ive tried forcing it with the manual chekcer, doesnt even start [22:24] how can i force the upgrade? dont wanna wait [22:32] try do-release-upgrade -d [22:32] the -d did the trick [22:32] jojo_, but why havent we got notified? [22:32] because your thing is configured to look for only 'release versions' [22:33] jojo_, huh? [22:33] and for some reason, zesty is still classified as dev in the url that do-release-upgrade checks [22:33] so it wont notify you [22:34] ah, will it become marked as stable soon? [22:34] maybe its better to wait [22:35] here http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/meta-release-lts [22:35] thats the url that do-release-upgrade checks [22:35] sorry - that's only for lts [22:35] this is the one for all release http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/meta-release [22:35] zesty isn't on the list yet. [22:36] which means its not stable yet? [22:37] ubuntu zesty has been released. it is the release version. perhaps they are not marking it as such to prevent the flood of traffic from millions of computers that autocheck for updates [22:37] or maybe someone simply forgot [22:38] if you allow the -d flag. then it checks this url http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/meta-release-development [22:53] jojo_, so, what do i do to force the upgrade now again? [22:56] sudo do-release-upgrade -d [22:57] but i dont need to do the update-manager-core? [22:58] Ubuntu 17.04 is released and stable. [22:58] First, I'd make sure you've run [ sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade ] before you perform the release upgrade [23:00] but isnt that done via gui? [23:01] Well, running the Software Updater is simply a front end for that, yes [23:01] yeah, thats what i meant :-) [23:02] but i dont need to do sudo apt-get install update-manager-core && sudo do-release-upgrade -d? [23:02] is it enough with just sudo do-release-upgrade -d? [23:03] or is it sudo apt-get dist-upgrade && sudo apt-get install update-manager-core && sudo do-release-upgrade -d? [23:04] sry, not apt-get right? should be only apt right? [23:10] Yeah, if you don't have it, install it [23:11] uh? i have update manager [23:13] update-manager-core is installed [23:13] then its enough with sudo do-release-upgrade -d? [23:20] Well, I was just suggesting you have the latest version of everything before you do the release upgrade, nicklas_ [23:21] TheOneMenzie, and i do if ive updated via the gui right?
