cehwedrechi, i have a question for ubuntu's devs, i couldn't find an answer while searching, so here it goes:01:38
cehwedrecwhen will ubuntu completely get rid off anything else than systemd's mechanisms for controlling services?01:38
cehwedreci've had some problems with the releases so far, systemctl wouldn't work properly for controlling some services01:39
cehwedrecthis doesn't happen on distro's that have only systemctl01:39

ackkcyphermox, hi, did you by any chance manage to reproduce https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1681846 ?09:17
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1681846 in ubiquity (Ubuntu) "Zesty Ubuntu-GNOME Installer hangs at plymouth splash" [Undecided,New]09:17

ilmaisinhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/164296610:27
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1642966 in cups (Ubuntu Xenial) "package cups-daemon 2.1.3-4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1" [High,Triaged]10:27
ilmaisinso this problem seems to be because cups will not shut down cleanly if there are jobs in queue10:28
ilmaisinand thus it is impossible to safely do updates of any kind10:29

cehwedrechi, i have a question for ubuntu's devs, i couldn't find an answer while searching, so here it goes:17:17
cehwedrecwhen will ubuntu completely get rid off anything else than systemd's mechanisms for controlling services?17:17
cehwedreci've had some problems with the releases so far, systemctl wouldn't work properly for controlling some services17:17
cehwedrecthis doesn't happen on distro's that have only systemctl17:17
jbichacehwedrec: upstart will be completely dropped in 17.10, but if you have a specific issue please file a bug17:18
ogra_well, if it is about system services, thats fully systemd only since 16.0417:19
jbichaupstart is only used for unity8 in 17.04 so that shouldn't really affect anything else at all17:20
ogra_the only bit upstart is used for still is user sessions17:20
ogra_(yeah, and even that was dropped in 17.04 for the mainstream stuff)17:20
cehwedreci'll try 17.04 and see if i have the same probs, thanks!17:20
slangaseksmoser: I'm off today, so probably not, but I can do it Monday19:10

nacccehwedrec: i can imagine some upgrade paths may not be well-tested or could have corner cases, so bugs are probably the right way if you do reproduce it21:21
Unit193Tip, don't have cracklib-runtime installed, it bails and the upgrader has bad error recovery.21:23
bdmurrayUnit193: isn't that package seeded?21:26
Unit193bdmurray: Hrm, OK.  So not specifically that package but involving that package.  I'm sorry I misspoke. :321:27
Unit193bdmurray: Looked like this https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cracklib2/+bug/1681231 anywho.21:30
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1681231 in cracklib2 (Ubuntu) "package cracklib-runtime 2.9.2-3 failed to install/upgrade: dependency problems - leaving triggers unprocessed" [Undecided,New]21:30
Unit193Which you just looked at. :)21:30
naccsarnold: got pinged in #ubuntu about a security bug in 1678349 which has not been triaged yet (universe package i'm told) -- is the right answer "package is in universe, may not get triaged for security bugs"? or is this an oversight?21:59
