ccheneyanyone know if it is possible to change a setting in LnkCap on a pci device? My pcie ports apparently have 'ASPM not supported' set and I need to turn it on somehow04:33
ccheneyits on a skylake system04:33
mjg59ccheney: It's set by either the firmware or the chipset itself04:35
ccheneythe FADT doesn't have aspm disabled but its not enabled on the ports or the devices, setpci seems to be able to turn it on for LnkCtl but LnkCap seems to be overriding it?04:35
mjg59lnkcap represents what the link is capable of04:35
ccheneymjg59: is there anyway to force enable it afterwards via initrd (similar to acpi replacement tables) or something like that?04:35
mjg59ccheney: Nope04:35
ccheneyugh :(04:35
mjg59Not that I know of04:35
* ccheney kicks lenovo hard04:36
ccheneyso they would need to enable it during pcie setup in uefi?04:37
ccheneytheir front line contact had a modified version of the bios that let him enable aspm but i suspect they didn't remember to enable it for the port itself, he said it didn't make any difference in temperatures, and couldn't release the test image to me to look into04:38
ccheneymjg59: thank you very much for the help :)04:44
