MrokiiHello. I have issues with Global Menus in Kubuntu 17.04 (upgraded from 16.10). I added a panel named "Application Menu Bar" and chose "Application Menu Widget" in System Settings/Fine Tuning. The main menu bar with its entries appears, but when I click one, no sub-menu is opened. There only a very small dot shown underneath the main menu-entry I click on.07:11
MrokiiThe entries in the menu bar react to the mouse (getting a different background) and when I click them they change colour again. But otherwise nothing happens.07:13
MrokiiI think I've found the problem. Seems the Global Menus don't work for Gnome-Apps. Too bad. That makes it pretty much unusable, if it doesn't work for everything. :-(07:27

isiselishello, I've downloaded the new kubuntu 17.04 iso from the main mirror, and when I start it it says 16.0412:38
cojackisiselis: then you have wrong iso12:40
isiselisyeah I guess so12:41
cojackisiselis: try neon12:41
isiselisokaaaaaaaaaaaayyy....i'm in a very good moment to try neon, i will12:41
isiselis:-ยจ)12:42
cojackIm srsly, neon12:42
cojackyou will get as fast as can patches for kde12:42
isiselisi have to do a fresh install now, so :-)12:43
cojackfe: in kubuntu waiting in backports for patches was in this release 16.10 a nightmare12:43
isiselisdoes it run Xorg or wayland?12:43
cojackonly apear once12:43
cojackisiselis: Xorg still (hope)12:43
isiselishahaha12:43
isiseliswhats the lastest stable?12:44
isiselishttps://files.kde.org/neon/images/neon-useredition/current/12:45
cojackisiselis: latest stable what?12:45
cojackneon?12:45
isiseliscurrent or with a date?12:45
isiselisyeah!12:45
cojackisiselis: take current12:45
isiselisthanks!!12:45
cojackdon't forget to check sum after downloads12:45
isiselisokay12:45
Dragnslcrisiselis- what's the name of the file that you downloaded?12:48
isiselisthe one in kubuntu...kubuntu-17.04-desktop-amd64.iso!!12:50
isiselisit has a dir inside dists/zesty12:51
isiselisbut when i boot it, 16.04!!12:51
IrcsomeBot1gouthamganesan was added by: gouthamganesan12:53
Dragnslcrisiselis- where does it say 16.04 when you boot it?12:55
isiseliseverywhere!!12:55
isiselisi've also finished the install, its 16,0412:56
DragnslcrDo you know how to get the checksum of the .iso file?12:57
jubo2I think he just trooling for shoulders to cry on. Download correct .iso, burn to stick with command dd and you good to go for install if you have healthy HW12:57
cojackDragnslcr: md5sum file12:57
Dragnslcrisiselis- there are files with the correct checksums at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/releases/zesty/release/12:59
IrcsomeBot1<gouthamganesan> Fwd from gouthamganesan: Hai, I just installed Kubuntu. There is a bug. I dont know how to tell it. So ill show it12:59

IrcsomeBot1<gouthamganesan> Fwd from gouthamganesan: Is there any way to fix it?12:59
IrcsomeBot1<gouthamganesan> (Photo, 468x337) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/rDQyVei2/file_2425.jpg12:59
isiselisi dont know how to match it, ive opened the md5sum13:00
isiselisseveraldirectories13:00
Dragnslcrisiselis- what's the MD5 checksum of the .iso file you have?13:01
isiselise702ac36901679c71d42ebf0aab9e5dff520121a7cb1eac02c91e2db53df7e9d13:03
DragnslcrThat's actually the SHA256 sum, but it's correct13:04
DragnslcrI just fired up a VM with that file, and the desktop icon says "Install Kubuntu 17.04"13:05
cojackisiselis: did you troll hard?13:05
cojackbecause it's not funny at all13:05
acheronUKisiselis: what command did you run to get that sh256 hash?13:05
cojackand first of the april was 20 days ago13:05
DragnslcrSo unless you can be more specific about where you're seeing 16.04, I would assume that you're copying the wrong file to the CD/USB13:06
isiselisnoonono ive done the same , fired virtual box with that file, it says 16.0413:06
cojackisiselis: give us a link to this file13:06
DragnslcrOr using the wrong file in the VM13:06
cojackperhaps13:06
Dragnslcrcojack- we don't need it; the checksum is correct for the 17.04 .iso13:06
isiselisno kidding, perhaps i've mistook somewhere , i dont get it because its the only iso i've downloaded13:07
acheronUKI have quite literally installed more times that I recall from the correct iso. it is 17.04 and says so13:07
jubo2obvious trooler is also fish processing factory13:07
Dragnslcrisiselis- when you get to the desktop, what does the text under the install icon say?13:07
cojackw8 guys, isiselis screenshot or id didn't happen13:08
cojackeot13:08
isiselishttp://se.cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/releases/17.04/release/kubuntu-17.04-desktop-amd64.iso13:08
isiselisi'll get the screenshot13:08
isiselishahah13:08
isiselisnoooo13:10
isiselisnow i saw it13:10
jubo2You messed something up?13:10
isiselisit was loading a very old image from another dir13:10
isiselisyeaaah13:10
isiselismy bad!13:10
isiselisoh gosh13:10
jubo2That's the cue for you to go "my bad."13:10
jubo2beat me to it13:10
DragnslcrDon't worry, we've all done stupid stuff like that13:11
jubo2Dragnslcr++;13:11
cojackeven worst13:11
DragnslcrThere's a reason that the first item on any troubleshooting list is "Is it plugged in?"13:11
jubo2I think some people actually compromise their own systems13:11
jubo2with copy paste from somewhere on the internets13:11
DragnslcrAnd I still forget to check sometimes13:12
isiselisyeah!13:12
isiseliscojack: whats the neon auto partition?13:21
cojackisiselis: hmm?13:26
cojackeverything is same in neon, it's based on *buntu13:29
cojackexactly on *buntu lts13:29
cojackthe only main difference between kubuntu and neon is repository for kde/qt packages13:30
user|51854hi guys, is it possible to install kubuntu near the windows 10 ?13:35
cojackuser|51854: yes13:36
user|51854hi cojack, does it ask when i install ?13:37
user|51854or do i need to do something when i install13:37
user|51854?13:37
hateballuser|51854: It will ask if you want to install alongside13:38
user|51854i appreciate, hateball. thanks13:38
hateballuser|51854: do you have a nvidia gpu?13:38
hateballIf so, there are some tricks needed to install the nvidia driver afterwards13:38
hateballif you have secure boot enabled13:39
user|51854hmm. im using laptop and nvidia gtx is on the board.13:39
user|51854i think i need to do some kind of re-installs for nvidia driver13:40
hateballuser|51854: you need to run "sudo mokutil --disable-validation" before you try installing the binary blob13:45
hateballit doesnt actually disable secureboot, just tells the shim to ignore it13:45
IrcsomeBot1<jayantseraph> any indicator of NUMLOCK/CapsLock Keys widget avaialble ?13:51
Dragnslcrjayantseraph - looks like there are a couple in the Plasma widgets repository13:56
IrcsomeBot1<jayantseraph> <Dragnslcr> None seems to work. My aim is to add it to system tray panel13:57
DragnslcrHm, two different computers now where Discover hasn't shown a message about upgrading to 17.0415:06
