I have issues with Global Menus in Kubuntu 17.04 (upgraded from 16.10). I added a panel named "Application Menu Bar" and chose "Application Menu Widget" in System Settings/Fine Tuning. The main menu bar with its entries appears, but when I click one, no sub-menu is opened. There only a very small dot shown underneath the main menu-entry I click on. [07:13] The entries in the menu bar react to the mouse (getting a different background) and when I click them they change colour again. But otherwise nothing happens. [07:27] I think I've found the problem. Seems the Global Menus don't work for Gnome-Apps. Too bad. That makes it pretty much unusable, if it doesn't work for everything. :-( === selsperr is now known as QuantumDruid [07:46] JAnguita was removed by: JAnguita [09:00] JAnguita was removed by: JAnguita [11:02] Howdy folks === apostolos is now known as Man === toscalix_ is now known as toscalix [12:38] hello, I've downloaded the new kubuntu 17.04 iso from the main mirror, and when I start it it says 16.04 [12:40] isiselis: then you have wrong iso [12:41] yeah I guess so [12:41] isiselis: try neon [12:41] okaaaaaaaaaaaayyy....i'm in a very good moment to try neon, i will [12:42] :-ยจ) [12:42] Im srsly, neon [12:42] you will get as fast as can patches for kde [12:43] i have to do a fresh install now, so :-) [12:43] fe: in kubuntu waiting in backports for patches was in this release 16.10 a nightmare [12:43] does it run Xorg or wayland? [12:43] only apear once [12:43] isiselis: Xorg still (hope) [12:43] hahaha [12:44] whats the lastest stable? [12:45] https://files.kde.org/neon/images/neon-useredition/current/ [12:45] isiselis: latest stable what? [12:45] neon? [12:45] current or with a date? [12:45] yeah! [12:45] isiselis: take current [12:45] thanks!! [12:45] don't forget to check sum after downloads [12:45] okay [12:48] isiselis- what's the name of the file that you downloaded? [12:50] the one in kubuntu...kubuntu-17.04-desktop-amd64.iso!! [12:51] it has a dir inside dists/zesty [12:51] but when i boot it, 16.04!! [12:53] gouthamganesan was added by: gouthamganesan [12:55] isiselis- where does it say 16.04 when you boot it? [12:55] everywhere!! [12:56] i've also finished the install, its 16,04 [12:57] Do you know how to get the checksum of the .iso file? [12:57] I think he just trooling for shoulders to cry on. Download correct .iso, burn to stick with command dd and you good to go for install if you have healthy HW [12:57] Dragnslcr: md5sum file [12:59] isiselis- there are files with the correct checksums at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/releases/zesty/release/ [12:59] Fwd from gouthamganesan: Hai, I just installed Kubuntu. There is a bug. I dont know how to tell it. So ill show it [12:59] (Photo, 305x353) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/ZfE9HcfH/file_2422.jpg [12:59] (Photo, 668x112) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/Ic0kVDqK/file_2423.jpg [12:59] Fwd from gouthamganesan: Is there any way to fix it? [12:59] (Photo, 468x337) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/rDQyVei2/file_2425.jpg [13:00] i dont know how to match it, ive opened the md5sum [13:00] severaldirectories [13:01] isiselis- what's the MD5 checksum of the .iso file you have? [13:03] e702ac36901679c71d42ebf0aab9e5dff520121a7cb1eac02c91e2db53df7e9d [13:04] That's actually the SHA256 sum, but it's correct [13:05] I just fired up a VM with that file, and the desktop icon says "Install Kubuntu 17.04" [13:05] isiselis: did you troll hard? [13:05] because it's not funny at all [13:05] isiselis: what command did you run to get that sh256 hash? [13:05] and first of the april was 20 days ago [13:06] So unless you can be more specific about where you're seeing 16.04, I would assume that you're copying the wrong file to the CD/USB [13:06] noonono ive done the same , fired virtual box with that file, it says 16.04 [13:06] isiselis: give us a link to this file [13:06] Or using the wrong file in the VM [13:06] perhaps [13:06] cojack- we don't need it; the checksum is correct for the 17.04 .iso [13:07] no kidding, perhaps i've mistook somewhere , i dont get it because its the only iso i've downloaded [13:07] I have quite literally installed more times that I recall from the correct iso. it is 17.04 and says so [13:07] obvious trooler is also fish processing factory [13:07] isiselis- when you get to the desktop, what does the text under the install icon say? [13:08] w8 guys, isiselis screenshot or id didn't happen [13:08] eot [13:08] http://se.cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/releases/17.04/release/kubuntu-17.04-desktop-amd64.iso [13:08] i'll get the screenshot [13:08] hahah [13:10] noooo [13:10] now i saw it [13:10] You messed something up? [13:10] it was loading a very old image from another dir [13:10] yeaaah [13:10] my bad! [13:10] oh gosh [13:10] That's the cue for you to go "my bad." [13:10] beat me to it [13:11] Don't worry, we've all done stupid stuff like that [13:11] Dragnslcr++; [13:11] even worst [13:11] There's a reason that the first item on any troubleshooting list is "Is it plugged in?" [13:11] I think some people actually compromise their own systems [13:11] with copy paste from somewhere on the internets [13:12] And I still forget to check sometimes [13:12] yeah! [13:21] cojack: whats the neon auto partition? [13:26] isiselis: hmm? [13:29] everything is same in neon, it's based on *buntu [13:29] exactly on *buntu lts [13:30] the only main difference between kubuntu and neon is repository for kde/qt packages [13:35] hi guys, is it possible to install kubuntu near the windows 10 ? [13:36] user|51854: yes [13:37] hi cojack, does it ask when i install ? [13:37] or do i need to do something when i install [13:37] ? [13:38] user|51854: It will ask if you want to install alongside [13:38] i appreciate, hateball. thanks [13:38] user|51854: do you have a nvidia gpu? [13:38] If so, there are some tricks needed to install the nvidia driver afterwards [13:39] if you have secure boot enabled [13:39] hmm. im using laptop and nvidia gtx is on the board. [13:40] i think i need to do some kind of re-installs for nvidia driver [13:45] user|51854: you need to run "sudo mokutil --disable-validation" before you try installing the binary blob [13:45] it doesnt actually disable secureboot, just tells the shim to ignore it [13:51] any indicator of NUMLOCK/CapsLock Keys widget avaialble ? [13:56] jayantseraph - looks like there are a couple in the Plasma widgets repository [13:57] None seems to work.
