[02:29] i have two electrics and an acoustic; i love my elec [13:02] morning [13:02] https://opensource.com/article/17/5/ktype-mechanical-keyboard-giveaway [13:06] I just realize how silly what I said was; one of my electrics is an Epiphone Les Paul and that's the one I super love [13:08] morning [13:08] notlikethesoup: that is a killer axe! What style / color do you have? [13:09] this is what i have for a bass: http://classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/images/hohnerprobbassv/bbassvpro1.jpg [13:09] shakes808: thanks! cherry sunburst with. black pick guard, knobs, and gold tuning pegs and pickups [13:09] nice [13:09] http://media.musiciansfriend.com/is/image/MMGS7/Les-Paul-Custom-Flametop-Electric-Guitar-Wine-Red/518321000025000-00-500x500.jpg [13:10] literally that [13:10] I absolutely love it [13:10] classic [13:10] i had this guy too [13:10] http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez/GSR200-4-String-Electric-Bass-519524.gc [13:10] sadly I think there's a wiring issue; one of the pickup doesn't work [13:10] doesn't always* work [13:10] should be an easy fix. [13:10] might just need a bit of solder [13:10] I love that red [13:11] yeah I've never soldered before :/ [13:11] or just get some new pickups :) [13:11] well I sorta think this issue is in the pickup switch [13:11] there isn't much that goes into that stuff. [13:11] this sounds weird, but if I wiggle it a bit and then select that pickup, often it will work for a bit [13:11] a buddy of mine built his own and i was seeing pics of it throughout the process [13:12] I forget which it is; it's the one that has less bass and mid tones [13:12] pretty easy [13:12] bridge? [13:12] could be the pickups or the switch. next time you need to change out the strings, you can take it apart :) [13:12] what makes a les paul a les paul? [13:13] the body shape? [13:13] I guess really that's what makes a lot of guitars what they are [13:13] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Paul [13:13] though there are many similar style to a Les Paul [13:13] shakes808: ha! that Ibanez is on my amazon wish list :) [13:14] for being a cheap on, it is nice [13:14] surely that wikipedia page is about the person, not the guitar. [13:14] shakes808: yeah, i figured its a nice one to learn and play on. [13:14] it is lol [13:14] but you can go to the guitar from the top of that page [13:14] ok, whew. [13:14] " He was one of the pioneers of the solid-body electric guitar, which made the sound of rock and roll possible." [13:14] i was going to cry if it wasn't. The man changed music as we know it. [13:15] he invented the 4 track FFS! [13:16] go to guitar builder in the wiki [13:16] it is inspired by him [13:17] The Gibson Les Paul, one of the world's most popular electric guitars, was inspired by Paul's "Log". [13:19] I don't think I've ever actually listened to Les's nusic [13:19] or even his music [13:19] stupid phone keyboard [13:21] haha :) [13:24] One of my acoustics looks similar to this [13:24] http://www.guitar-museum.com/uploads/guitar/57/300165506391-1.jpg [13:24] mother of pearl inlay epiphone [13:27] nice! [13:27] i've been playing on one a lot like that. [13:27] it was my grandfathers. [13:27] it plays oh so nice. [13:28] I've also got a 1935 or 1936 gibson kalamazoo KG21 archtop [13:28] damn [13:28] its kind of awesome to play around on an 80yo guitar. [13:28] hell yeah Kalamazoo [13:29] my acoustic is pretty crap honestly [13:29] yeah, on that epiphone, i lowered the strings and put smaller gauge strings on it. I have a Yamaha that the strings are lowered as well, but have normal / thicker strings on it :) [13:29] oh man is it!!! [13:29] lowered the strings? [13:30] my buddy's step father has an old american strat ... oh how sweet that sounds :) and he has a mexican newer strat, still sounds nice, but not as nice as the american one :) [13:30] closer to the pickups [13:30] ah, i see. [13:30] likely different sounds / tapping abilities [13:30] yeah, you can lower the strings so that they are easier on the fingers. [13:30] i've always heard that described as adjusting the action, but I guess when the goal isn't fretboard distance, it can be called something else. [13:31] yeah, lowered the action. didn't know if you knew what that meant :) sorry [13:31] humbuckimg duophonic stratodopolous [13:31] it is so you don't have to press down as far to get the notes to play [13:32] yes, I need to adjust the action on my other epiphone. its so far its very difficult to play the lower frets [13:32] yeah, it is nice :) [13:34] http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o47/ANDREW_SHOULD_DIE/shim_explanation.gif [13:34] nice album name [13:35] haha [19:16] man i'm starting to play my guitars more, my calluses aren't what they used to be [19:16] i've got calluses like I've never had because I'm a new player. [19:16] oh man [19:16] yeah i started on acoustic and shredded the hell out of my fingers [19:17] but i haven't hardly played the last several years [19:17] gotta start on accoustic with heavy strings... so that you get huge finger strength :) [19:17] then if you choose to do lightweight you cn really shred :)
