BluesKajHey folks10:42
=== lordievader is now known as Guest98383
lordievader[m]Hey BluesKaj11:22
BluesKajhey lordievader[m]11:24
lordievader[m]How are you doing?11:34
BluesKajok here. and you?11:40
ducasse\o BluesKaj lordievader[m]11:43
ducasselordievader[m]: any developments on your laptop?11:43
BluesKajhey ducasse11:45
lordievader[m]Ordered a new one yesterday.11:45
ducasseprobably the best solution :)11:45
lordievader[m]Today I figured, one last boot. Laptop performed like nothing was wrong. Until about an hour later.11:46
lordievader[m]Temps where quite hot, but nothing it hasn't seen before.11:46
lordievader[m]Ohwell, after six years it's okay to break down.11:46
lordievader[m]Yeah, indeed.11:47
ducassesix years isn't bad, at least you got good use out of it.11:47
BluesKajwell, my lenovo laptop is a little over 3 yrs old, but the screen is exhibiting red interefernce colour when I move the screen, like a loose connection or some such. If I move it certain positions the red interference disappears , but it's worriesome just the same.12:29
BluesKajit wasn't expensive, reg price was $700, but bought it on sale for $50012:32
ducassei assume it started happening right after the warranty had expired? ;)12:54
BluesKajno, it just started a couple of months ago...warranty was only a yr iirc13:00
ducassestill sad. it might just be a loose connector, as you say, if it's easy to disassemble it might be worth a look.13:02
BluesKajyeah, if it gets worse I'll probly do that13:07
lotuspsychjegood evening to all15:36

brunch875lotuspsychje: it's like a super-light doctor thesis15:52
brunch875but I'm taking it way too seriously so it's getting to me15:52
lotuspsychjewow15:52
brunch875other faculties just write a 30-page paper about whatever15:52

lotuspsychjecomplicated stuff :p15:54
BluesKajhey Bashing-om, brunch87515:55
brunch875Not really, the algorithm itself is finished. I just slapped some kuhn-munkres to it after a small variation15:55
brunch875but right now I'm choking on the front-end15:55
brunch875HTML + CSS is a shitfest15:55
lotuspsychjecant help you there :p15:55
brunch875it's a hack on top of a hack on top of more hacks15:55
Bashing-omBluesKaj: /o .. Good to read you also . Looks to be that kinda day here .15:56
brunch875then I've planned three weeks to write the 30 page thesis, which should be a piece of cake15:56
BluesKajBashing-om, raining here, so i'm kinda stuck inside15:56
brunch875blah blah blah different SQL engines blah blah the one I chose is great because I say so15:57
lotuspsychjebrunch875: its your last year thesis?15:57
brunch875yes, but is thesis the proper term? Is that not doctorate-related?15:57
brunch875this is just for the degree15:57
Bashing-omBluesKaj: Rain here yesterday . Beautiful day out ,, and I have the option to procrastinate on yard chores . .. I choose to procrastinate :)15:58
brunch875frying-sun weather here. Nearly 40 degrees in some regions of spain15:58
lotuspsychje30 here tomorrows15:58
BluesKajyeah, that's usually my choice as well ;-)15:59
Bashing-omLocation: Heber Springs, AR ~ Cond: 70°F (21°C), Clear ~ Atmo: 53%, 7.0 mi (11.3 km), 29.81 in (1009 mb) ~ Wind: 8 mph (13 km/h), SW, N/A°F (N/A°C) ~ Time: 10:5515:59
Bashing-om- nice to have weather in irc terminal :)16:00
BluesKajBashing-om, care to share that command with us ... ...iirc we used to that in our mirc days on windows16:00
BluesKajused to do16:00
lotuspsychjemirc scripts :p16:00
Bashing-omBluesKaj: It is a script . If ya want easier .. inxi can also do . Be glad to share the script however .16:01
BluesKajsomething about ones whether station call numbers/ketters in North America16:01
BluesKajletters16:02
BluesKajsure ..script sounds good16:02
BluesKajweather station ..gawd16:03
lotuspsychjelotuspsychje@RooTBooK:~$ inxi -w16:04
lotuspsychjeWeather:   Conditions: 72 F (22 C) - Partly Cloudy Time: May 25, 6:03 PM CEST16:04
Bashing-omBluesKaj: Krytarik's script that I applied above : http://paste.openstack.org/show/jx13xKIktXbukOG7NckP/ .16:07
Bashing-omBluesKaj: If ya on terminal based irc client try ' /exec -o inxi -xxw ' :)16:09
lotuspsychjecool16:10
brunch875which IRC you you use?16:12
brunch875did I read terminal-based?16:12
brunch875I personally prefer working from a TTY, but I miss notifications :/16:13
brunch875wonder if there's a way to attach notify-send to write16:13
Bashing-ombrunch875: irssi -- yes can do most anything in irssi if ya good at scripting .16:19
brunch875learning the DBUS API is on my TODO list.16:20
BluesKajI use konversation ...cli clients are for emergencies, otherwise I stick my old gui client :-)16:22
Bashing-ombrunch875: ^ lower level . irssi is intercepting signals and then .16:22
brunch875irssi has an API for signals? Nice...16:22
brunch875Right now I'm on hexchat, weechat was ‘just ok’16:23
lotuspsychjei like hexchat16:23
oerhekshexchat & wobbly windows16:24

Bashing-om^ just had to see what the o4o was !16:26
oerheksthere is still no wobbly-tty16:26
brunch875wobbly-tty?16:26
brunch875hahaha16:27
brunch875the only thing I'm missing on the TTY is a proper web-browser16:27
brunch875links2 is kind of... rudimental16:27
brunch875I know the tty is capable of graphics since I've read PDFs on it16:28
brunch875also, links2 kind of interprets SIGSTP as ‘lolno’16:30
BluesKaji like using the cli/shell asmuch as the next guy , but irc chat isn't one of them ...have too many rooms open at one time to be able to navigate16:31
naccBluesKaj: how many is 'too many' in your case?16:31
BluesKaj816:31
naccBluesKaj: by default, alt+1 through 8 in irssi :)16:32
naccBluesKaj: i've got 20 or so, and have no problem navigating in irssi :)16:32
naccit just uses the alpha keys, (e.g., alt+o goes to my 19th)16:33
BluesKajnot gonna start now ... I have konverstaion setup the way i like it with highlighting and diff coloured nicks etc , to help these old eys keep track of what's happening16:34
BluesKajold eyes even :-)16:36
naccBluesKaj: ack :)16:39
BluesKajnacc, you guys are driven by the KB , I'm an old windows guiy driven by the mouse/cursor, that's what I'm used to from the early 90s til i discovered Linux, so some habits are difficult to change16:39
naccBluesKaj: heh16:40
lotuspsychjei always loved candyeye linux16:41
lotuspsychjemuch more creative then other Os16:41
BluesKajI don't consider it eyecandy so much as easier to read :-)16:41

BluesKajos-prober, to find other OSs, perhaps?19:05
BluesKajor to find another grub already installed19:06
=== JanC_ is now known as JanC
ducasse"i have a problem, but i'm going to select the parts of command output i'm going to give you", kthxbye.20:31
naccducasse: historical issue with bug reporting :)20:32
naccducasse: i have closed a number of bugs just saying 'please don't elide output because you think you know what i want to see"20:33
ducassenacc: when we got to "...and many other things, but I think this is the most important" i figured he could also assume what the problem was :)20:37
