MirvMirv: hi! I started with dropping the Ubuntu (touch) specific changes in the ubuntu branches of Qt in Debian's git, but other than that it's up to the community to package it (of which I may or may not be part of depending on if I have time). Debian is working on it. Qt 5.8 was skippped altogether since upstream dropped support for it early.09:36
Mirvmardy: ^ that was to you of course :)09:37
Mirvthere's a volunteer from Kubuntu people (oh well, who's from where originally, it doesn't matter) helping Debian with the 5.909:38
mardyMirv: cool!09:38
Mirvthe big thing will be merging it to Ubuntu and getting everything to build against it or drop. there are still AFAIK more Qt using packages in Ubuntu than in Debian.09:42
Mirvthe migration to release pocket might hold a surprise or a hundred, also thanks to the gles twin packages that should be dropped at the same time09:43
Mirvs/Qt using packages/Qt private ABI using packages/ (requiring rebuild)09:44
Mirvmardy: re: ubports, I thought they used xenial with stable-phone-overlay, which has Qt 5.6 LTS at least09:46
Mirvas my last paid feat I landed also Qt Quick Controls 2 backport (from 5.7) made to work with Qt 5.6's qtbase/qtdeclarative in there09:47
Mirvgranted, if not planning to ship actual end-user products then it does not make too much sense to stick to even LTS release of Qt. it's only once it's tried to stabilize things that one needs to select a version.09:47
MirvQt Quick Controls 2 was supposed to gain Ubuntu theme (UITK2) and a couple of new features, that'd been the future of UX building. even though a version of it is in overlay PPA it's still just 5.7, and eg some of our Ubuntu changes were contributed to QQC2 5.909:48
jbichamardy: Oxide is being removed from 17.10 which means that Unity's Online Accounts panel will stop working11:17
jbichado you have any objections about removing UOA completely from 17.10?11:18
mardyjbicha: oh, sorry, forgot to reply to your e-mail11:42
mardyjbicha: no objections; will be packages still be available in the universe?11:42
cjwatsonnot much point keeping something in universe if it doesn't work11:46
jbichamardy: oxide will not be in Ubuntu at all (not universe) and we're talking about removing UOA completely too11:51
mardyjbicha: no objections if you mean removing unity-control-center-signon, but signon-ui can work without oxide, and is still used by KDE11:52
jbichawhat does KDE use signon-ui for?11:53
=== tjaalton_ is now known as tjaalton
jbichawithout u-c-c-signon, I think it makes sense to drop UOA support from evolution-data-server too11:56
mardyjbicha: KDE has its own online account integration, using signon-ui12:00
mardyjbicha: about UOA+eds I don't know, whether it's used by KDE or others12:01
jbichait seems very unlikely for Kubuntu to care about e-d-s12:05
