Fanfarekubunted: What are u looking for?01:37
kubuntedall of a sudden, never before never after..had to reboot to get keyboard back...bizzarre01:37
kubuntedLaptop lid is closed ( sleep ), opened , keyboard is gone - no input is accepted . Surprises galore from the wonderOS (kubuntu), any more to expect? Any explanations?01:37
kubuntedweird01:38
Fanfareonly keyboarddead, not mice?01:40
Fanfaremouse/cursor...01:41
kubuntedFanfare: yes, only keyboard . trackpad worked01:42
Fanfarekubunted: u say it happened the first time an never happened again... so u can not reproduce?01:44
kubuntedFanfare: yes01:44
kubuntedweirdness of this kind of unpredictable surprises that various linux distros never stop to deliver is what boggles the mind...always something new and often unreproducible01:46
Fanfarewell, i can remember those in my MS Windows time too... and more frequent then with linux...01:47
kubuntednever know what failes next , in the middle of something important...making once promising ( in the 1990s) os a bad candidate for real job01:47
Fanfarei think it was something happening during suspend->wakeup thou01:48
kubuntedthese unpredictable failures happen on different computers with different distros01:48
kubuntedWin7 has been much more reliable than any linux distro - a role reversal - Mswindows is the new linux now and linux is the new windows9501:50
kubuntedboggles the mind01:51
Fanfareit's all your choice...01:51
kubuntedindeedy if it was not for the very few things at which linux is better I would've completely dumped it01:53
kubuntedspoken by an early adopter from the early 1990s who's been a hardcore member of the linux cult....never could've imagined01:54
Fanfareso why u landed on (k)ubuntu?01:57

jk^where can i find the Minimum (or reccomended) system requirements, for kubuntu 16.04.02?16:00
jk^https://wiki.ubuntu.com/XenialXerus/ReleaseNotes/Kubuntu16:00
jk^i can't find them here16:00

mparillo_jk^: I am not sure they are published. I do know that if you have a 1GB Asus One Netbook, you will need a ton of patience.16:49
jk^ton of patience for what?16:50
mparillo_A T410 with 4GB is great unless you play a big Minecraft world, and in that case the JVM will drive your fan crazy.16:50
jk^excuse me, i don't understand anything of what u said :(16:56
jk^just need recommended or minimun system requirements :\16:56

mparillo_jk^: I would follow Ubuntu's recommendations: https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop17:10
oerheksjk^, more is better ,.. https://askubuntu.com/a/33386417:15
oerheksa decent GPU is more important, ssd would be great too17:17
jk^mparillo_ https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop at that link there are the "recommended" (and not the "minimum") system requirements for ubuntu, i need the kubuntu's ones17:20
jk^:\17:20
jk^thanks a lot oerheks17:26
jk^:)17:26
mparillo_I am not certain that the minimum referenced here (https://askubuntu.com/questions/333795/what-are-the-system-requirements-for-each-flavour-of-ubuntu-desktop/333864#333864) will work. In fact, I am not sure you can even run the GUI installer in 512 MB. As I wrote previously, I got warnings using my 1GB netbook.17:29
mparillo_And Kubuntu's KDE and Ubuntu's (until 17.10) Unity environment are not too different. Unity is not much 'llghter', and probably heavier if you tweak it at all.17:31
=== claudio is now known as Guest26187
oerheksi think basicly unity , gnome3 & kde like 2 gb memory, but for all flavors: a ssd makes all desktops more responsive17:36
mparillo_I agree. Certainly once you get to 4GB, an SSD is the next big improvement, especially if you re-boot frequently.17:40
