ussher_I've installed "great little audio player" from a .deb file.  Cant figure out how to remove it.  in the "Included files" in the deb package it shows lots going into .opt/extras.ubutntu.com/.......  How do I remove it?  It doesnt seem to have a command line name to start it, just a desktop icon.00:02
clivejoussher_:  dpkg --remove packagename00:03
ussher_normally would do apt-get purge (name of the program) but its not working in this case because the name of the program isnt universal.00:03
ussher_the application launcher command is "/opt/extras.ubuntu.com/glrp/GreatLittleRadioPlayer"00:04
clivejoor use a package manager like Muon?00:04
ussher_tried with "Discoverer" but its not there.00:04
ussher_see if i have muon00:04
clivejoDiscover isn't a full package manager unfortunately00:05
ussher_Think I lost muon in the last upgrade.  not there.00:05
clivejosudo apt install muon00:06
clivejosudo dpkg --remove greatlittleradioplayer00:07
ussher_that one does it00:08
ussher_Thanks clivejo00:08

applecatHI, I recently upgraded to KDE 5.9. I'm using a Wacom tablet and notice that there is no longer a GUI in system settings for the tablet. I would like to develop this functionality. Could someone guide me a little, or send me a few links that would be useful. The wacom settings functionality would be located in system settings -> Input Devices03:36

zetheroo'greeter-show-manual-login=true' doesn't seem to work for KDE - is there another way to do this?13:19
zetheroohow to set manual login in KDE?13:29
lordievaderWhat do you mean with manual login?13:29
zetherooI need to be able to type in a username13:30
lordievaderThat is dependent on the theme, I thought. A theme like Elarun looks like it supports typing of user names.13:31
lordievaderThings like Breeze do it via user icons.13:31
zetherooso the default theme doesn't support manual login?13:31
lordievaderThey all do.13:31
lordievaderUnless I misunderstand what you mean with manual login.13:31
zetheroowell in Ubuntu I edit /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/60-gnome.conf with 'greeter-show-manual-login=true'13:32
zetherooThis gives the option to manually type in a username13:32
zetherooI tried doing the same in /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/40-kde-plasma-kf5.conf but it's not any different13:33
lordievaderKubuntu uses SDDM by default.13:33
lordievaderLike I said, using the default Breeze theme you can click to select  a user. Other themes use text input for this.13:33
zetherooyes, but what if the user is hidden from login13:34
zetherooWe have administrative users which are hidden from the login screen13:35
zetheroowhat the default theme needs is something like "Other" or "Not Listed" so you can type in a username13:36
zetherooor is this configurable with SDDM?13:36
lordievaderMy SDDM has a button for a 'Different User'.13:39
zetherooI am using Kubuntu 16.04.213:39
lordievaderI don't use Kubuntu, my SDDM version is 0.14.0-r2, but I don't think this is a new addition.13:41
zetherooseems like it's been a known issue for some time https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=81340913:49
ubottuDebian bug 813409 in sddm "sddm does not allow entering username manually" [Important,Open]13:49
lordievaderzetheroo: What version of sddm are you running?13:51
zetheroono clue13:51
zetheroothe default with Kubuntu 16.04.213:51
lordievaderapt-cache policy sddm13:51
zetheroo  Installed: 0.13.0-1ubuntu513:52
lordievaderThere is no 'different user' button in your login screen?13:53
zetheroonope13:54
lordievaderHmm, it could be that it was introduced in 0.14.13:55
zetheroohttp://imgur.com/a/wtKNQ13:55
lordievaderAh, yes that old theme. As a work around you may add a text based theme.13:57
zetheroohow do I install a new theme and then set that as the default from terminal?13:57
lordievaderWait a minute, are you trying to login as a used with a uid < 1000?13:58
=== steffen_ is now known as xic
zetheroonot that I know of13:59
lordievaderHmm, but the user you want is not listed?13:59
zetherooI just need to be able to have a login screen where I can have these options set:14:00
zetherooallow-guest=false14:00
zetheroogreeter-show-manual-login=true14:00
lordievaderIn that case, I'd make a (admin) user from a tty. Login as that user. Set up the login screen via the gui. Logout, remove use.14:01
lordievaderuser*14:01
zetherooI have ssh access already14:01
zetherooI just can't setup on Kubuntu what works in Ubuntu Unity and Gnome14:02
lordievaderBy the by, you could also simply install lightdm.14:02
zetheroohmm ok14:07
zetheroogoing to do that14:08

talmageakonadi_imap_resource repeatedly closes unexpectedly. How do I fix that?14:34
talmagekmail seems to be stuck moving items from 'sent-mail' to 'Trash'.14:35
zetheroook, I don't want to use the Unity greeter so this is no good14:41
zetherooback to sddm ... how to install another theme by terminal?14:41
lordievaderYou can also use the Gnome themes for lightdm, if you want.14:43
lordievaderI have no idea how to install sddm themes by terminal.14:43
zetheroowell I tried installing gdm as well ... but when I login I am in a Gnome desktop instead of KDE14:44
zetherooand /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/60-gnome.conf doesn't exit either14:48
lordievaderMost login managers allow you to select which DE you want to boot in. SDDM and LightDM do anyways, and I thought KDM did too.14:48
zetherooKDM, is that yet another one? :14:49
lordievaderYes, and old login manager for KDE, don't think it is really supported anymore.14:50
lordievaderDoes it matter that the file doesn't exist?14:50
zetherooE: Package 'kdm' has no installation candidate14:50
zetheroowell where else does one configure gdm?14:50
lordievaderYeah, you don't really want to do that.14:50
zetherooin Ubuntu that config is there when you install gdm14:51
lordievaderNot in lightdm config files...14:51
lordievaderRead the documentation on where to config your dm.14:51
zetherooIn Ubuntu it's located in /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/60-gnome.conf14:51
lordievaderThat sounds like config for lightdm and gnome. Not gdm.14:52
zetheroook14:52
lordievaderLike I said, read the documentation for your login manager on how to configure it.14:53
zetheroowhy can't I just install another sddm theme which has the manual login option?14:54
lordievaderYou can, already gave you instructions on that.14:55
zetheroooh, must has missed it14:55
lordievaderIn that case, I'd make a (admin) user from a tty. Login as that user. Set up the login screen via the gui. Logout, remove use.14:55

talmageAre there SDDM themes that don't fill in the name of the last logged in user?14:56
talmageI couldn't find any, so I hacked the circles theme to do that.14:56
zetheroolordievader: I don't have any issue logging in. I am asking how to install another theme by terminal?14:57
zetherooor is that just not how its done14:57
IrcsomeBot<José PSX> Hi, something so strange has happened to my kubuntu14:58
lordievaderI know. As I have said before, I don't know how to do so from the terminal. Hence I have given you an alternative.14:58

zetherooI guess it's something like this https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/319451/how-to-install-and-set-new-themes-in-kde-plasma-via-terminal14:58
